An anime that starts off as an mecha action show with psychological elements in between. As it progresses, the psychological elements become more important as it questions the abilities of the main characters of obtaining/giving trust and their willingness to make themselves emotionally vulnerable to other people. A big flaw of the show is that a lot of terms and objects are suddenly introduced without proper explanation like the Chamber of Guf, Lance of Longinus, and the First Impact.

A group of elites determine that humans must revert back to a sort of primordial soup so that no one will experience pain anymore, everyone will be part of a whole. It's sometimes hinted that besides Gendo (consciously wants it), other characters subconsciously want this as well. However, in the ending of EoE, Shinji and Asuka decide that's not the way to live and break free of this way of thinking.

A whole dispute between Gainax and ADV Films who distributed the series in the US. Something to do with that liveaction film they raised money for then went bankrupt and became Sentai Filmworks, supposedly they still have the rights and don't do anything with them, though I think recently they just expired. EoE was handled by Manga Ent, I have no clue what they do anymore or why EoE hasn't been rereleased on bluray.

I don't think hand drawn got more expensive. It's just that digital is both easier and cheaper so everyone uses it now. And I'm pretty sure that even if it is cheaper the budgets have been dropped a lot more than they should be so even if someone with enough talent, time, and money could make digital look good they're already gimped from the beginning and can't fully take advantage of it.

Well the first time he saw an injured girl that was going to do it if he didn't. Then the second time (or another time, not sure if it was the second) they were losing without him there and even if he didn't want to fight he also didn't want everyone to die. Then in EoE Misato goes on her rant and tries to give him an incentive and then Asuka dies so again he feels like he has to even though he doesn't want to.

Also, check , where Asuka gets a very embarassed look when asked straight if she is fucking shinji. If the situation was different (like in the AU sequence), their relationship would have been much better.

The evidence you posted was extraordinarily weak. The video itself includes Asuka lashing out in frustration because Shinji won't so much as hug her, let alone fuck her. Neither character acts like they have slept together after that episode.
Maybe is Shinji saved her while being attacked by the mass produced Evas like he did in the manga, but he doesn't.
