Do you play them all or do you stick to either E or M only?

Do you play them all or do you stick to either E or M only?

I used to know a guy who literally refused to play any game that wasnt M, his parents got him Arkham Asylum and he literally wouldnt play it because it was T rated. Needless to say it was the most immature thing I had ever seen.

I do notice a lot of gamers have an aversion to E rated games because they are afraid of looking like manchildren.

I don't even look at what a game is rated. I don't care.

Who gives a shit about that? If the game is good then I'll play it.

ECEET MAORKA

I only play these.

>a lot of gamers have an aversion to E rated games
wrong
no one cares about game ratings except actual children and parents

Why does KA rating even exist? Doesnt E for EVERYONE mean the same thing as Kids to Adults?

do they even release Ao games anymore?

KA doesn't exist. It did exist 20 years ago but was renamed to E.

I... I didn't even know the ESRB thing was still around. Are you sure you aren't underage?

Only console game devs even bother with the ESRB, I have no idea what anything I play would be rated anymore.

Hatred was the last time I remember hearing of a non-porn game being rated AO. You generally don't see them much because it means your game isn't going to be released on consoles or sold in retail stores so you are limited to PC online distribution in which case you don't really care about getting an ESRB rating. Technically it is optional.

>caring or even checking the esrb
only burgers do this

ECEET
MAORPKA

E is actually the replacement to KA
To put this in context, DKC2 on SNES was rated KA but by the time DKC3 came out they'd already moved on to E

This stuff is really for parents that want to protect kids. Only the extremes really say much about the content of a game. Games that sport E labels tend to be oriented towards very young ( less than 10 years ) kids, so they don't tend to have much in terms of engaging game play.

Nothing that isn't a porn game. It gets treated as a black mark since most retailers won't carry them at all. Just about any game that isn't submitted to the ESRB is supposed to be assumed AO by default. MangaGamer uses the proper AO label for their physical releases. JAST and friends still have their custom 18+ icon.

>CEET MARPKA

What did ESRB mean by this?

AO-rated games only, preferably with cute lolis

Looking at my 10 most played games:

>Skyrim
M
>Crusader Kings 2
T
>Mount and Blade
T
>Rome 2
T
>Attila Total War
T
>Medieval 2
T
>Divinity 2 Original Sin
M
>Age of Empires II
T
>Worms Armageddon
E

I just got a physical copy of Ef and that's AO, but only the physical version.

Haven't played an eC game in a long time. I think I had a Sesame Street game on PS1 back in the day. Never played an Ao game.

This came out a bit after hatred, this release at least

I literally and physically could not possibly give less of a fuck what a game is rated by the ESRB, doubly so because they don't have the faintest fucking clue what they're talking about anyway.

Most of that is their own fault for sheer, mind-boggling ignorance, but I also have personal issues with a system wherein it is fine to jam a sword through a man's torso and get front-row seats to him coughing up blood and breathing his last dying breath right in front of you... But a glimpse of a naked but covered woman is enough to get a game rated AO or just denied a rating in the gulag down under.

I have never taken the age tags into any kind of consideration, even when I was a kid.
My parents didn't care about them either

is PEGI any better? I know Americans do have weird fucking hangups about sex and nudity, like way more than is rational.

At least the ones on the ratings board are from the generation that has hangups over it.

>outrageous amounts of gore and ultraviolence
M

>hand holding
AO

I'm from a PEGI nation. I assure you, it's no better. Violence is a-okay, but actually getting used to the idea of the unclothed human body is badsickwrong and not allowed. I'm not saying to allow 10-year-old access to pornos here; I'm just saying to treat them equally. If a game with enough demon or faceless mook slaughtering to fill a WW1 cemetery is allowed a 'teen' rating because it's all fantasy-based, then why does a pair of boobs or an even SLIGHTLY physical romantic relationship bump it up to 'mature'? They should be weighed equally, dammit!

This is all just a holdover from the patently idiotic and puritanical practice of abstinence-only sex ed, if you ask me.

to be fair having two adult ratings is nonsensical and could also be unconstitutional (in Mexico)
