Sequels are one of the biggest cancers in all art, and specially in this industry where you can make long products that contain all you want to comunicate to the consumer, unlike in films where sequels MAY be sometimes understable.
The guy who owns the the style is Alex Ahad, a deviantartist who mixed anime with Animaniacs and added some Darkstalkers into Skullgirls in particular. The main artist for the game's animation was Mariel Cartwright. Just another talentless hack who is only good a copying styles semi-competently.

What makes me skeptical about the project is the fact yea the animations look great but the genre itself is overcrowded as fuck especially on Steam right now. Last year Steam had over 6000 released smaller games. 6 fucking thousand little indie-titles and most of them were some kind of rpg games.

Except the publisher of Indivisible isn't Autumn Games, it's 505, so the success of that game ultimately has nothing to do with Skullgirls but everything to do with the continued future of the dev team, LabZero.

The fact its based on MvC, the fact its so combo-centric that back&forth is neigh nonexistent. Even with several mechanics trying to prevent infinites you get 6-10 second corner rapes that makes the gameplay ironically slower than most MOBAs out there.

I want they effort to be put in other games besides skullgirls since i like the art style but i don't like the game itself, feels way too convoluted and reset heavy with long ass combos. I suppose they changed the game quite a lot for what i heard but when i last played the game for the last time these were still a thing.
I'm hoping indivisible to be at least decent so they can start making other stuff, literally anything besides skullgirls 2. I'm not liking most of the redesigns though, like this one.it is not much of a change but i don't see why they would do it especially when this and many other shots are still in. Just seems like wasted effort.

Worst part about the whole game design is once you get the hang of it the game ironically turns boring because the combos are the king and nothing else, Big Band was the only notable exception. If I want a fighter I want to play a fighter, not a fucking rhythm game where the fighting halts so one player mashes buttons in order while the other reads a book. At least in GGXrd the system allows more footsies because you can spend meter to stop any combo, the well designed idea that only way to gain that meter is to be aggressive so theres more to the game than just "find an opening then corner-rape for 6-10 seconds, remember the correct buttons and the rhythm".
Nobody likes MvC's system. The only reason that franchise got off the ground was thanks to the license and plebs being excited about the fact you can pit Wolverine against Mega Man. The actual games were fucking unbalanced spammy garbage. Skullgirls didn't even have the luxury of having known mainstream characters to it so of course the game had disappointing sales. The 100-200 or so US fanboys keep the game in the undead state it is but its still effectively dead, its last appearance on Evo in the Mad Catz booth was fucking sad to watch. So heres hoping the Indivisible doesn't repeat the same mistake of having a piss-poor game design which turns the game into a boring slog once you get good at it like it did with Skullgirls. I guess at least its a new genre so its harder for them to do the same mistake.

Sounds more like you're complaining about fighting games on the whole rather than Skullgirls specifically. Yeah it sucks to get hit on-wakeup, that's kind of the point of putting pressure on someone. Alternatively you could stuff their wakeup with an invulnerable attack and now the ball is in your court to take a chunk of their healthbar away. That's kind of a fundamental of most fighting games and GGXrd's burst is an exception rather than a genre staple.

You do realize that if Xrd would have bombed then Arksys would have been fucked for years to come because of how much time, money and effort went into making those visuals right?
It takes them on average 7-8 months of consistent work to finish a character and multiply times during development they were about to drop it. If Daisuke wasn't a literal god that kept the entire company afloat for almost a decade then he wouldn't have been able to pull the funds needed to do that.
