>N64 is better than the ps-
N64 is better than the ps-
>no jaggies
>somehow according to user it's worse
How did they even port RE2 onto the N64? The biggest disadvantage of the N64 is how little you can fit texture resources onto a cartridge let alone full motion cutscenes and RE2 is 90% textures and cutscenes.
>all I care about is jaggies
...
-1.
OwO whats this?
>Less detail
>Somehow better than PS1
...
...
4.
Who the fuck has said otherwise?
Nintenyerolds have no say in anything.
looks like a bad port
>Advanced hardware supports proper perspective corrected textures
>Pathetic cartridge storage capacity doesn't actually have room for textures
"Guys, we've got better texture rendering! On all 4 textures of the game!"
Or maybe lazy developers
Every Nintendo Power from the N64 period has an "lmao ps1 load times gotta wait an HOUR to play" joke.
even in your picture the n64 version looks better
>less detailed
>more blurry
>better
>Not playing the Dreamcast version
I'd argue that the jagged pixels of nearest neighbor texture filtering are better at hiding the seams between meshes in animated models without a skinned mesh. The bilinear filtering of the N64 smooths out the pixels, which makes those seams more apparent which causes the character to look like robot made out of hinged pieces.
Not even close, although re2 on n64 was impressive on a technical scale
>Cherry pick
>It still looks worse
why do people even bother
Can you explain what those symbols mean and articulate how that formula is used and what it actually does? What variables are there?
>U texture axis
>V texture axis
> Vertice 0 XY coordinates
> Vertice 1 XY coordinates
> Vertice 2 XY coordinates
so it takes the vertice screen co-ordinates, gets the extremes on both axis and maps the texture squarely to that? How does the correct version of the texture mapping work? What is being divided and in what way to achieve this 'correct' result?
user it was one of the most technically impressive ports ever made
does the psx make it feel like you bring the arcade home?
reminder that brazilian chad literally has REmake 2 inside his security vault and user did NOTHING to stop him.
Also made by the same development studio that made Red Dead Redemption.
the cutscenes are i think smaller in size, like, not as big as PS1, same with textures.
if FF7 had no cutscenes, it WOULD fucking fit on an N64 cart. look at the discs, 90% of the fucking room is cutscenes for useless shit, especially on disc 2 and 3. like a 5 second elevator and shit.
>worse textures
>blurry
>somehow according to user it's better
no, but dreamcast does
oh, look, same with fucking MvC1!
PS1 is absolute SHIT compared to DC!
You're damn right it's impressive. I'm pretty sure you need some black magic to squeeze about a gigabyte (two CDs) of level backgrounds and FMVs into 64 megabytes.
>This console is SHIT compared to a console that released 4 years later!
Playstation Leon's face cracks me up every time
Well already did this yeaterday but
Well the good for N64 RE2 is the high res character models, the fitting of both discs onto a single cartridge, TRUE stereo sorround sound and some curious animations such as how Claire’s torso sways more as she walks/runs bringing an odd focus to her tits as if they are moving.
THE BAD: a lot of character models are fucked up or missing details, just look at Ada’s dismorphed chin in N64 sometime. Some zambos types are missing to save space and lack detail, the bus male zombie? Look at him again sometime and you will realise he is not the same as the PSX one.
The backrounds are a little blurry on N64 and lack a certain brightness to them, in fact the whole game is toned down in colour.
The sounds have been so heavily compressed that there is a quality loss in voice AND in certain music. None are so obvious as the Ada theme when you encounter her in the parking lot, it has been cut short and looped to save space.
In Pal versions, audio is missing, the licker FMV is missing the breathing sounds in the PAL version.
Some mistakes were made, Claire’s voice plays in the Annette FMV whether you are Claire or Ada.
The FMV is choppy because Angel Studios had to literally remove every other frame of animation in order to fit it in one cart, it’s also HEAVILY compressed.
The N64 cart has a save battery not sram. It will die one day and so will your saves.
If you go into the menu and go back into game and attempt to turn in one direction, Leon & Claire will first begin turining in the other direction before correcting themselves.
Other than that, they preformed a MIRACLE on that cart. Nintendo were of absolute no help during the whole process so hats off to Angel Studios.

>t. retard who adds filters
Resident Evil and FF7 both use animated 320x240 bitmap static backgrounds though. With FF7 is't a bit less because it's one background per area whereas RE has multiple camera angles per room. Even though 320x240 is pretty small, that's about 200 kilobytes. A single background, ie. one camera angle for RE takes 0.3% of the capacity of maximum size N64 cartridge. You'll still be needing space for FMVs and audio files.
Where's her vagina?
Know who were no help at all in getting that money printer on to N64? WHY, NINTENDO OF COURSE.
>To further compound Angel Studios’ challenge, his team had to first convert the game’s code from the C it was written in for the Playstation to the Assembly language used for coding on the Nintendo 64. Surprisingly, Nintendo wasn’t all that helpful during the entire affair (something that many developers working on the platform complained about) as it reportedly refused to share its own in-house microcode tools with developers, and the basic tools available suffered from poor documentation and no provided debuggers.

Fit 650MB of content into 100MB cartridge
Yeah... You'll probably cut alot of content or compress it into unrecognizable rubbish.
RDR had a ton of bugs on the launch day
>650MB
Resident Evil 2 has two 650MB discs on PS1 and one 64MB cartridge on N64.
ok then
lets compare Xmen children of the atom, both released during the same 5th gen, faggot.
PS1 is dogshit by leaps and bounds compared to fucking Saturn.
end of discussion, kill yourself faggot.
Ranking
GC > DC > Dualshock Ver. > Vanilla > Windows
The N64 is tricky, I'd like to put it over the Dualshock version because I think it's great that they managed to port that game, but I'm biased and like stupid ports like Saturn RE1.
To be fair both discs were essentially the same thing
Claire is so cursed to never have sex even her own body mutates to make sure of it.
It's actually kinda small and hidden from view.
remember too, those discs are FILLED with lots of junk data and useless shit besides the game and movie files.
shit like uncompressed sound
huh, same shit like the PS3 and PS4...
those 50GB discs are MIGHTY HUGE, but they don't use all that fucking space....huh...
Actually they're totally different in the terms of data space used. When you start with Leon on disc 1, you get the first false scenario with its own FMVs, and then you change to disc 2 which has the second false scenario with its own FMVs. But starting with Claire on disc 1 gets you the first true scenario which leads to the second true scenario, which both have their own FMVs. Some of them cleverly recycled from the other scenarios, but all unique instances divided between the discs to be used in specific playthroughs.
It removes the feel of Resident Eivl
What exactly are you trying to demonstrate with this post? The N64 version looks better... which is pretty much the case with every N64 multiplat. The N64 was a more powerful system, almost 3x as powerful in fact. The cartridge format was limiting in terms of FMV and music, but in terms of actual graphics, N64 blew PS1 out of the water. There is literally nothing on the PS1 which can compare to games like Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, etc. I wouldn't expect it to -- again, the N64 is 3x more powerful.
Don't get me wrong, the PS1 was a great system with awesome games, but graphically it doesn't hold a candle to PS1. Just look at a game like Ocarina of Time compared to say, Metal Gear Solid. Snake doesn't even have a fucking face. N64 games have held up very well, the technology behind them was just vastly superior.
One thing I would mind you that compressing 22050hz audio (which is already earsore to listen desu) will result with Conker's Bad Fur Day sound quality. Without subtitles I couldn't understand a shit.
See It was not a case of “better” between the two, it was a case of choose your poison.
>The N64 was a more powerful system, almost 3x as powerful in fact.
The few games it had struggle to stay at a stable 30 FPS,plus the N64 had no 2D games.
This
N64 is smoother, but the textures aren't as good.
Regardless of the graphics, Playstation has a better library of games, not to mention better controller.
It all comes down to the simple fact that N64 was better at making 3D graphics than the PS1. PS1 could make amazing 2D games, just like the Saturn, but Sony always pushed 3D as a selling point in fact Sony of America vehemently opposed 2D games considering them "old fashioned" which is why a lot of JP games didn't get localized if they weren't in full 3D.
In terms of 3D, the PS1 can never compete with an N64,
Uh no, it actually was a case of "better", N64 games look better. It's a fact. Go find me a single PS1 game that looks like Majora's Mask or Perfect Dark. The N64 was just a more powerful system. It's like trying to say the PS2 had better looking games than Xbox -- it's bullshit.
What does the system having 2D games have to do with how powerful it is? The few 2D games it DID have, like Yoshi's Story or Ogre Battle 64, look vastly better than PS1 equivalents. What's your point? Regardless, you fucked your own argument: the whole reason PS1 had a lot more games with higher FPS is because it had a lot more 2D games. Most 3D games on PS1 chugged along worse than N64 games did, in fact. Just look at the specs, there's nothing about PS1 hardware that gives 3D games some kind of magical advantage, it was a weak system.
>Just look at a game like Ocarina of Time
id use a different game, desu. Its average of 15fps with a max of 20 and the game constantly dipping to around 10ish isnt exactly the paragon of good games to compare.
Actually OoT ran at a locked 20fps so you don't even know what you're talking about. Let's pick a different game though, yeah, like Yoshi's Story or F-Zero X, which both ran at 60fps and looked better than any PS1 games of the same genre.
too bad the psx had that shitty unstable polygon problem
That's not even true. Final Fantasy VII is just under 700 MB without cutscenes. It could fit on 1 disc but it could absolutely never fit on N64.
Didn't the 64 version run at twice the resolution at times when compared to the playstation version?
Most PS1 60 FPS games are 3D not 2D,plus most PS1 devs had way more time to push the hardware to the limit compared to the N64 that had a way shorter life span.
Most 60fps PS1 games are those like fighting games which have no reason NOT to run at 60 fps, much like Killer Instinct Gold, a fighting game on N64, which ran at 60fps.
that shit was not locked friendo.
With the expansion pack the N64 version ran at 640x480 outside of FMV scenes. It had better sound quality too.
Uh yes, yes it was. Your ignorance on the subject doesn't undo fact, friendo.
>F-Zero X, which both ran at 60fps and looked better than any PS1 games of the same genre
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH F-Zero X is barely textured and has pop up out the ass,it runs that fast because it is graphically very poor.
>doesn't even look better
>doesn't have 30 racers at once
What are you trying to prove here retardo?

how? did the games stopped running at 60fps?

Sony ponies, everyone.
Yamauichi had some silly ideas about game development. One of them was "if it's harder for developers to make games, then only the best developers will manage to make games!"
Which admittedly can work as a crude quality barrier - when you have no competition.
Seemed to work pretty well given that the best N64 games are of a supremely high quality and the "best" PS1 games are often riddled with low production values and numerous gameplay flaws. Sony is literally the #1 cause of the industry's decline.
But it was more powerful
jaggies>all
I would more sympathetic to them if sony didn't do the exact same shit in 2006
...
No, but many of them never did to begin with.
Just look at that face in the PS
>plus the N64 had no 2D games.
It's kinda funny.
The N64 controller was clearly designed to bridge the gap between the 2D generation and 3D, and assuage any potential developer concerns about the adoption of 3D games.
It had a dpad and structure that let you hold it comfortably as if it was a more advanced SNES controller, but you could also hold it as a 3D controller with a joystick.
But given the games produced, it looks like the concerns about developers being afraid of jumping to 3D were completely misguided.
Sega had similar concerns and took it way further with the Saturn, with an architecture that was far less friendly towards 3D game development.
Nintenbros are that deluded, when the nostalgia coating over the N64 comes out they suddenly start to freak out.
>PS1 has more games that run at 60fps than PS4 reg.
who invited the segafag here?
>when the nostalgia coating over the N64 comes out they suddenly start to freak out.
Lol.
dude, nintendo knocked it out of the fucking park on LAUNCH with fucking mario 64
that was the best showing of fucking how to USE 3D movement and shit.
they knew gaming was moving into 3D
zelda oot is the same shit
i never felt like i had shit control over link's movements and weapons
Are you using that broken PS as a roach hotel?
The N64 also had a fair amount of junk. But the PS1 had almost 10x more games overall.
All of the "they enabled licensed casual junk" arguments about the PS1 could be said for Sega of America's ambitions back then as well.
Nintendo's first party output was simply stellar, enough to justify the console on its own. It almost always is.
DELET THIS
The one on the right looks better though. What are you even trying to say?
Every console has a heap of junk, yes, but the difference is that when you compare the better games on both consoles, the N64 had the more high quality experiences. Just compare something like Crash or Spyro to SM64 or Banjo, the difference in quality is night and day. Nintendo has always been anal about making sure the big hits on their system have high production values, good controls, lots of content, etc. I can't say the same for most Sony exclusives.
>Uh no, it actually was a case of "better", N64 games look better. It's a fact
We were talking about RE2 in particular and i can tell you that you are full of shit about RE2
