There's this game called Spider Wars on Steam that could really use some attention and love. Specifically because it is literally the ONLY FUCKING GAME OF ITS KIND.
It was meant to be a multiplayer-only shooter with spider abilities, but fuck that, I just wanted to be able to spend a relaxing afternoon spinning a web and catching flies. Because you can spin giant 3D webs from point A to point B, swinging around in the wind and climbing on every surface.
It has procedurally-generated animation for the spider legs, so it doesn't look like complete shit when climbing on a thin strand of webbing or a tree limb. You probably guessed, but yeah, your legs stick to everything.
And if you choose to be the "Scout", a jumping spider, you basically go into warp speed when you press the space bar, flying up to the top of a life-size fully-grown tree.
>17 maplebux >early access >already making excuses of "making bots is hard for such a small dedicated team like us, woe is me"
i'll fucking pass, thanks. Either release a complete product or have faith in your abilities, this fucking "make a skeleton, sell it for money, and then complain to your paying customers how tough game development is" shit needs to cease.
Landon Gutierrez
Their Patreon has significantly more news on their situation if you give at least a dollar. patreon.com/SpiderWars/posts
Yeah, the game definitely needs a ton of work to feel like more than a tech demo. Especially sound effects for the spiders.
Carson Smith
> making bots is hard
I think you're forgetting that the bots are SPIDERS that need to spin webs and jump around to play properly. You can't even go to stackoverflow for that shit, because nobody's done AI for that before.
Ayden Baker
That doesn't justify them following the same indie dev kickstarter cycle as every other talentless hack shitting out an early access nowadays.
user is right. This shit needs to stop. Don't make games if you're going to half-ass it and whine the whole time.
Ayden Turner
Now this. Is a fucking Shill. I will buy your game and then refund it.
Alexander Foster
>because nobody's done AI for that before. you sure you want to make a bold statement like that on the #1 hotspot for video game related autism?
Jaxson Flores
>paywalling your excuses
holy fuck what the hell kind of nightmare are we living in
Joshua Young
Shill my ass, I'm OP and I love the concept, but I definitely know the devs have really shitty marketing skills, and aren't capable of Shilling.
>talentless hack Except the spiders are procedurally animated using Inverse Kinematics, and the concept of the game is actually original.
fuckin lol, I've done a SHITLOAD of research into trying to find a proper spider video game and haven't found anything beyond shitty platformers and flash games. For a game to have AI for web-spinning, there actually needs to be web-spinning. Let me hear about all these web-spinning games that already fucking exist that I haven't heard about.
Gavin Wright
Really, dude, next you're going to tell me that there's a game out there with full focus on proper necromancy and ability to become a lich.
Luis Scott
shouldn't you be working on the game, or at least posting these excuses for your poor, deluded patreon supporters?
Michael Ward
being a spiderposter is illegal here m9, show me your spiderposting licence and ill make an exeption this one time
Luis Watson
gosh the devs sure are lucky to have a 'fan' that knows how the spiders are animated, how good the devs supposedly are at marketing, and having done all this internet research on their behalf. how fortunate of them, and not at all suspicious
Colton Martinez
They have two Patreon supporters, and one of them is me, dipshit.
I asked if I could help work on the game but that was a few months ago and I haven't gotten a reply to my email yet.
I have a shitposting license, will that do?
You're highly overassuming. I saw "spiders are IK'd" on a Steam Greenlight page and their broken website and that's pretty much it. All my insane research into spiders was years before I knew this game existed.
> how fortunate of them > fortunate
Get that normie shitword out of here.
Jordan Rivera
>y-you are overassuming with your n-normie shitwords
i hope your shitty game studio gets audited
Ian Hill
>is another "dev shills his shit game on Sup Forums" episode
Julian Collins
Hey! That's not what I said at all!
These sitcoms are getting weirder and weirder.
Adrian Miller
i really dislike what you're doing here. I've notified the SARS of suspicious tax-related activity. Someone in cape town should be following up tomorrow
Wyatt Hernandez
What the hell is the point of paywalling development updates?
Benjamin Martin
As long as they don't interrupt before I ejaculate to this spider photo.
