New Super Mario Bros series

FUCK YOU!
These games are good.

>games
>good

Of course they are.
Except for NSMB2

They're okay. Super Luigi and the Newer mods are actually good though

When Wii U was still being sold, these games got shitposted to death. Now that the Switch is out shitposters aren't focused on NSMB games anymore. It's honestly easier to talk about Wii U games in general. I did genuinely like the NSMB series by the way

the wii one was so fucking good

All hey had to do was not release 2 and MAYBE change the naming conventions and the series would be respected

>the series would be respected

The series IS respected. It sells way better than your fancy 3D games.

Sales doesn't mean respect. Clearly you weren't here back in the day, because everyone just shat on Nintendo for releasing so many NSMB games

Yes, because everybody cares so much about Sup Forums's (assumed) opinion. For every faggot crying on here how horrible they consider the games, there are two others who like them just fine.

Why do you feel the need to respond to my posts and argue pointlessly if we don't even disagree?

playing these games in 2 player co op is kino

...

This is the most autistic thing I have seen as of late.

shut the fuck up retard

I don't care what anybody says, New Super Mario Bros. U is still the most fun I've ever had playing a Mario game.

>same render of yoshi recycled twice on the boxart

They're all too similar.

Play the one for the Wii and you're good to go. Ignore the rest.

>I can't refute it

>I'll just say it's autistic

hi dunkey

why bother refuting if it's already autistic as is

first one was refreshing since there wasn't a 2d mario for a long time up to that point.

2nd was ok since it introduced 4 player. everything else felt like they were milking the series to the point where I don't want to see another 2d mario for another 10 years or longer. They'd need to think of something to make it interesting again besides new animal suit which is their usual hook

It is genuinely autistic. Please tell me you weren't the one to make it.

user, as the one who posted it I gotta agree it's autistic (although not wrong).

They were fun with friends

You misread the image, it says it's from the first game.

DS, U, and Luigi U are the only good ones. Luigi U is the only great one.

New Mario Wii is trash because waggle
New Mario 2 is trash because of the weird coin gimmick

irrefutable autism is still autism, pal

A serious analysis on a child's toy will always appear autistic, because no one is meant to take a child's toy seriously.

But this is also something of a double standard, because if you do insinuate that the games are child's toys, you're then called a shitposter

It's an unwinnable situation

Nsmb2 i liked. Rest didnt play

This makes me wish I had done shit like this with my friends when we were still playing NSMBU on a regular basis. I regret it.

Waggle aside, I thought Wii was a very good game. It had some really good levels. Can't you just take out waggle on PC though?

I wish these games had online so I could do shit like this, it would make the games so much more fun.

Yes they are.
What now?

He's a ninten drone. Behead those that insult Nintendo.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have a NSMB game on Switch with online play. I would love to pull these tricks off with some Sup Forumsirgins. I know there are people here skilled enough to do this shit.

autistic

correct

argument is really easily refuatble, it means new in relation to the old games not the ones of the same series. Somebody thought they were hella smart and Merriam-Webster'd the definition for new but didn't fully see its context.

joke: nsmbu port for switch

woke: nsmb is a terrible, soulless husk of a franchise that should be euthanized

a switch NSMB would only be well received if it was really hard.

We'll be getting a new 2D Mario game soon enough. I'm expecting it to pop-up at E3 or something.

DS, Wii, and U aren’t bad at all.
2 wasn’t necessary at all.

In a way it was actually necessary, I say this since it was made to teach people how to make Mario levels

>buy nsmb 2 out of spite for myself
>it's alright, better than 1 by a mile, but still not quite as good as it could have been
>drop it at the final boss because I ain't dealing with that bullshit
7/10 could be worse, and I would have gave it an 8 if they hadn't done the stupid ass split-world shit from NSMB1 -AGAIN-.

Oh cool. I'm looking forward to see what he has in store for NSMB

I only played the DS one, and I liked it plenty, but hopefully Super Mario Maker makes them obsolete, and the developers can go in a new direction

What could they do to make 2D Mario fresh again?

Eh, it still lacks slopes, and other enemies/features in NSMB. Which I think was deliberately. I imagine Nintendo didn't want all of their assets to be in Mario Maker

Aw man, I can't believe Dry Bones is FUCKING DEAD

The gameplay of the newer ones (U and Luigi) was fine but they need to change the world themes. I cant possibly play another fucking desert world with pokeys and spikes. There is no excuse for these boring world themes.

Its an ugly style no matter how you look at it.

When will it come back?

Never, I hope.

>I cant possibly play another fucking desert world with pokeys and spikes
This, Spikes weren't even desert enemies in their original appearance, they were in Water World. Pokeys are one of my favorite enemy designs, but every level with them in the 2D games is the same fucking thing.

Why do you hope that? It was probably one of the best power-ups the New series ever introduced. It had good speed, introduced neat level design by having blocks you could break only with it and it wasn't just another variant on the flying ability like all the others did afterwards.

It's crazy when you look at Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze level/world design and compare it to Mario. Mario is a way bigger franchise, why is it so much lower quality?

>having blocks you could break only with it
Fuck that shit

Spikes were in water world, but they only showed up in grassland-like levels. They really should have just showed up from the start, seeing as world 1 is mostly grass.

Trying too hard to play it safe. Nintendo doesn't care if DK crashes and burns because casuals find it too hard.

I liked that personally, it opened up nice secret areas for skilled players, regardless it could probably be expanded upon with some newer ideas since it's been 12 years.

I liked the shell because it made for good speedrunning.

>wall jumping in a 2d mario

That's not necessarily true, Mario games are suppose to have both easily recognizable elements and a lot of interplay between those elements. DK games are a bit different, there's not a lot of nuance in how objects/enemies/etc interact with each other.
Doesn't justify how formulaic the New series is, but the level design in the games is still pretty good for the most part (haven't played NSMB2 though).

> Super Mario Maker
just play Super Mario Bros X jesus christ
Super Mario Maker has 1/4 the content of Mario bros X

I hope they do a 2d artstyle for the next one, Imagine a game that looks like the artwork. The 3d models are so ugly.

That won't happen. I've played all the (multiplayer) NSMB games with my casual family, and we tried to play Rayman but had to quit quickly because they could not tell their characters apart from the environment. 3D Models are necessary for the casual audience who buy these games.

>We'll be getting a new 2D Mario game soon enough. I'm expecting it to pop-up at E3 or something.
This year we're getting at least Kirby Star Allies, Yoshi Wool 2 and Funky Kong Country. Even assuming Retro aren't working on DKCR3 or anything, that's still quite a few 2D platformers for one year. So I'm not so sure about a 2D Mario reveal on top of that.

If it's designed well, it's not a problem.

I don't think it will happen either, but I doubt Nintendo cares about sales of the Kirby/Yoshi shovelware. Only Donkey Kong is the relevant comparison.

>NSMB
First in the series, was hype back then. Really easy, though.
>Wii
Pretty good. Has really tough parts, but in a good way. Loses points for Reusing level themes from DS.
>2
Bought it, beat it, sold it in one weekend. So unoriginal it's painful. Possibly the worst main series Mario game.
>U
I like it a lot but it's still playing it too safe. Glad the series is dead.

I had fun but i can't say they were good.

It's not that they're bad, it's that NSMB2/Wii came out at literally the same time and 2 was beyond the worst offender for lack of anything new, as states. Stagnation is worse than an outright bad title. Plus, the sterile plastic look is disgusting compared to the more organic look of the 2D games.

It turned nsmb into a better sonic the hedgehog game than sonic the hegehog

>NSMB2/Wii came out at literally the same time
It was 2 & U came out at the same time actually, your point still applies though.

I meant to say Wii U, my mistake.

Yes, ironically enough it did

They're good, just not that memorable.
NSMB2 also fucked the pacing of them.

>Nephew didn't understand that "New Super Mario Bros" was a series
>he unironically thought NSMB DS was the first Mario game ever

Why is Nintendo so shit at branding?

2 was shit

>Stagnation is worse than an outright bad title

I don't think that's true. Sure, Sonic did a lot of new stuff, but that franchise is dumpster fire now, with 90% of the games being mediocre to trash. Samey as it may be, people want something like Sonic Mania over garbage like Sonic Forces. They want what works and what is good, not for a developer to take a huge dump on it.

Thought the series was bland overall.

>Kirby
>platformer

Its a beat-em-up.

no shit branding just ur nephews autistec

How do we fix 2D Mario? Scrap the "New" line and it's aesthetics obviously, but where does it go then?

Fair enough. It goes both ways. While Sonic's games aren't good, there's some good ideas that could be revisited and refined (Which they need to do desperately). Mario until Odyssey had a set format that became repetitive but still worked for the most part. I think they should make a new 2D Mario. No homages from the older titles, just a new 2D Mario with its own identity and elements.

But it 4/1 as good too

Well, you do make a good point. Stagnation and innovation have both positive and negative sides to them. I thought I heard they were going to make a new 2D Mario for Switch, something original and not NSMB. I forgot where I read this though.

Last I checked the community in SMBX isn't as robust as it is in Super Mario Maker.

i pirated NSMB2 and it's not that bad, just really unoriginal

This?

>5 years since the last NSMB game

>my nephew is a brainlet so the marketing is shit
