It's honestly in a league of it's own. It's not even a video game. Life is more of a video game than bloodborne. It treads waters waters that were uncharted before. It's truly innovative and there's no "game" like it.

I think it doesn't stray far enough from the Souls games

Ever since beating the Moon Presence and finishing the game for the first time, it really felt like a modern classic. Haven't felt this about a game in a loong time, probably since back on ps1

Bloodborne, much like the rest of the Souls series, stands out only for being somewhat challenging in an era where the vast majority of games tend to be fairly easy. Were it not for this, the Souls series, and Bloodborne by extension, would not receive the popularity and the praise it has garnered, as its gameplay is slow, shallow, and repetitive to a fault.

Note that this is not a knock against your console of choice. I realize most of you have trouble telling the difference.

Sometimes it's pretty frustrating and better to just run through areas than slowly taking out each enemy. Like Ya'hargul and Nightmare Mensis for instance. I prefer DS3 where there's less gimmicky areas.

You don't seem to understand but it's not about BB being exclusive. The reason it's so good is because of many factors of the game itself, the combat is fast paced and enjoyable the story is easier to understand and less convoluted than the souls games while adding more atmosphere and depth to a believable world. BB is as close to being perfection as a game can get without seeming to try too hard.

The only people that seem to appreciate bloodborne's full scope are people who also enjoy Lovecraft's works.
