This Lichdude is so overpowered because he raided endgame gear endlessly and had a massive stock of paystore items. It's set up basically like a WoW endgame with even stronger items available in the paid storefront.

Not really. I mean, I guess grinding yourself to Lv.1000 and being able to one-shot everybody would have its perks, especially if you could grind other skills to the same level of absurdity, but it seems like it would likely just turn into a matter of "grind until at stat X and then just murder everything".

Ironically, the concept of that gun MMO you mentioned has inspired some ideas of how you could do a MMO trinity differently. But it certainly wouldn't be like whatever the SAO sequel was.

I mean, the premise isn't exactly new. And there isn't exactly much more "conflict" than you'd expect from a typical shonen anime, especially given the setup. But they handle it well enough, and it's funny watching Ains curbstomp people at times. The second season is airing now and it has a bit of potential, given what the first season built up to. No clue if it will pay off or just stall to keep things going, though.

Actually, it's pretty much the opposite. Ainz has no clue where the fuck his is. He doesn't want to fuck around with the locals too much, but he does want to get his name out in case anybody else from the old Yggdrasil will recognize him. Most of his actions have either been to spread his name around, or to find out more about the world around him.

Taking over the town was mostly a reaction due to them sort of having nobody to look after them anymore, plus giving him a local contact.

There's one thing I don't quite get. How is he "stuck"? I can't remember if this was some kind of game where you are immersed with vr or something, or if he was just sitting down at a fucking screen. Either way it doesn't really make much sense.

I don't think it's explained, but iirc he's not even in the same game world, but that his guildhall and all are now part of another world.

"Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game" or DMMORPG is the category for that kind of game. Emphasis on "dive." So it's obviously immersive, but it's never fully explained either, just leaves you little bones to chew over.

But the most obvious way of knowing he isn't just sitting at a screen is that emotion-effecting spells actually affect the player, in his case the lich-undead emotion-numbing thing is the only thing keeping him sane during it all. There's a gag episode where he loses the emotion dampening buff and freaks out over every little thing in Nazarik.

Don't know, I haven't seen the second episode yet. The first episode did note that they were attacking human settlements, and were likely going to get squished between two human attacking armies. So it's likely that he's heading over there to subjugate them for access to news from the monster ring of travelers, along with keeping them from just being wiped out.

He was one of the heads of the guild, and unless I forgot something (which is entirely possible) he's at above max level, while all the generals are lower level NPCs who were recruited by the guild heads. He's also experienced at PvP fights, and so had a fairly massive advantage even before the cash shop items.

Don't get me wrong, Ainz is tough, versatile, and experienced. Just saying Shaltear is level 100 just like he is. So is all the other Guardians. The fight was tough because so much shit was stacked against him with how she was built.

Funnily enough,the guy behind Overlord is also a table top guy who is into world building. There's a ridiculous amount of world building that you never see, such as what the real world is like in the Overlord books.Corporations rule everything, nature is dead, no one goes outside. You log on to your computer for work then go home and log on to another computer to relax.

Ainz is a PvE/Roleplay build, and Shalltear was designed to hard counter him.

skellyboi was fucked because Shalltear was setup to be ultra resistant to magic, had auto-revive loot so he couldn't lich her dead and he was trying to keep her alive.

Half and half I'd say. There's no question Ainz is one of the strongest and that lets him act with complete impunity sometimes, but he's always worried there's someone better than him. Don't forget, he's using a roleplaying build and he would have lost to Shalltear, who uses a PVP build, if he didn't cashshop it up. If there any players close to his level, he's probably fucked.

Honestly, I think of Ainz as a white mage running around a low level area in FFXIV. Sure he can cast Holy and just nuke the shit of everything, but that's less about him being strong and more about everyone else being weak. The second he fights someone in his level range, he's fucked.
