When Sega still made consoles, a good Sonic game was what sold them. Once Sega stopped making consoles, Sonic didn't need to be a killer app anymore.

Music is great but Sonic X-treme doesn't really look like a great game. The fish-eye lens seems disorientating as fuck and the game seems really slow apart from automated sections.

It's an interesting game though and is probably the best example of a troubled development history for a game. It's also super fucking aesthetic. Space Queens sounds like the theme song of a magical cyberspace highway. I hope some day X-treme is revived or acknowledged in some form, just to see what it could have been. Maybe if Sega ever gets their shit together and makes a 3D Sonic game in the vein of the classics, X-treme's style could be reserved for it. Bonus points if Jade Gully is literally the first zone and Space Queens is used somewhere.
