This game is a letdown for me and I don't think it's worth buying it since Dragon Ball Fighter Z and Monster Hunter World is coming out this month too. I'm just waiting for Star Allies since that looks way more fun.

I dunno, I'd put Mario on top by far, even if in recent years there's been a massive dive in quality. The RPGs until recently, nearly all the kart games, many of the sports games, the party games until recently, all are really good.

They're good, but I like the Kirby spinoffs better since they can come up with some really interesting gameplay like Tilt'n Tumble, Canvas Curse, Kirby Air Ride, Mass Attack, and more. Plus they usually incorporate copy abilities into these game that makes it way more enjoyable.

But most of those are subpar, especially in comparison to what the Mario spinoffs have done.

I'm eager to give this game a shot but I don't have the highest hopes for it. Biggest concern is the big arena fighting mode- in the demo all it takes is 2 charged sword spins and you just win.

I will say Air Ride is the best spinoff game I have ever played and nothing comes close to topping it, but overall, the Mario games have a far more consistent lineup of good games. i also don't particularly care for the touch controls that some kirby spinoffs have, though, so that's probably why I feel they're subpar. Actually, now that I think about it, Pokemon might be better, too, but that's a far more tenuous proposition.

This should've been bundled with the other download games. It's not a full price release.

I pirated the European version (I was planning on buying later, but I'm impatient) and it was just a collection of boring, mediocre, samey minigames, most of which just involve carrying things. In story mode, the bandana wearing Waddle Dee is really fucking obnoxious, probably just as bad if not worse than fuma. Who knew they could even make a Waddle Dee of all things annoying and obtrusive. Kirby and Waddle Dee are the only fucking playable characters too, besides Dedede and Meta Knight. I won't buy it.

Finally got around to playing Super Star Ultra, I've had this cartridge for around 5 or so years and I never touched it, now I can see why you guys praise the game to the high heavens

several word: It's a lot better than you give it credit for. It has the perfect physics for a Kirby game. The move sets and level design make it a perfect balance between the platforming side and action side of the series. It introduced a lot of great things like destructive environments and abilities that effect your environment in other ways, these are things that have yet to reappear. Its only flaw is that it's short, and it portrays Kirby as a fucking retard compared to his characterization in prior games. That's it. It's a good game besides that.

To each their own user. Kirby spinoffs usually don't get sequels and are standalone titles. There are exception like Rainbow Curse, which was great since the level design is much better, but the autoscroll stages does tamper the experience. Funny you'd say about the Pokemon spinoffs since those are also well made, especially the Mystery Dungeon series.

It's fucking boring. Most of the gameplay modes play the same, they just change the thing you carry or kill. Combat is mindless as fuck, main game is short, and multiplayer is just those same modes again. It didn't even have a cool final boss.

Now see, you say the pokemon spinoffs are well-made, but is that really true? I'm probably just forgetful, but what good spinoffs are there? Coliseum and its sequel, the Mystery Dungeon games of course, those are arguably the best pokemon games out there, Stadium is good albeit I might have nostalgia clouding my vision, I hear Snap is a great photo game, but then, what else? There's obviously more games out there, but I can't recall them, though it might be my poor memory, I feel as though there's been a bunch of shovelware-tier spinoffs that were conveniently forgotten and it's about a 50:50 ratio of actually good games to bad, but if I can't remember them then all I have is a gut feeling, worthless.

Any of them could easily get a unique moveset, they fight enough and they're all unique/gimmicky enough to have a clear "thing" to base them on, for a bunch of mice that have been totally unexplored after their introduction. Meta-Knights are in a similar boat.

Pretty much the titles you've just stated. I really enjoyed Gales of Darkness, I thought it had an interesting mechanic behind Shadow Pokemons. The pinball game was also great too, I found it to be way bettet than Kirby's Pinball Land. The Ranger games were also fun to play through as well.
