Why does Sup Forums hate it?

Why does Sup Forums hate it?
It's a children's first VN experience and If you hate it its to deep for you lmao

it is very not amazing and or it is subpar

...

>Sup Forums is one person
lmao

why

...

Gotta give the mods a reason to purge this thread

I got nightmares about high school after playing it before bed. So I guess it horrified me by reminding me of my past failures with women in high school.

BRAAAAAAAAAPPPPP

>Draw a nice ass
>Draw brapping
At least upload a version without the fart cloud. Why must I be tortured like this?

Cause he's a DDLC faggot

yet another "self aware post modern videogame'

You'd think people would get tired of these after undertale finally beat the dead horse to dust

I doubt her farts smell as bad as this pic implies

They used it to a different effect from Undertale, more to parody creepypastas than be edgy and pseudo-intellectual, not like you'd get that impression from the game's fanbase.

Because it got popular. It's the same exact shit that happened to Undertale. Sup Forums was mostly singing it's praises until other people started playing it.

Lots of people on Sup Forums always deny this is the reason, but you can see it happening to Yume Nikki in every single thread we're having about it now. A lot of anons are afraid of Yume Nikki becoming popular.

We just need to convince Sup Forums that liking popular games is the new contrarian.

I played it yesterday and I really don't get why it became so well praised by ironic weabs. It wasn't that good and would only be great if you had previously played lots of visual novels and watched anime so you could see it basically mocking general cliches the whole time.

Is the game popular? If yes then Sup Forums must hate it

this whole "it's mocking common anime tropes lol this is so meta and subversive" thing is something ironic weebs and people who barely watch anime pushed to make their game seem deep.
The game is actually worse if you've read a single good visual novel or seen a good amount of anime.
There's nothing to understand. It's actually just a mediocre visual novel with very little substance and you'd realize this if you weren't a mouth breathing retard

I don't understand why people compare the meta stuff in DDLC to Undertale at all.

>beat the dead horse to dust
And what the fuck are you on about? It's not original, but it's far from overused.

this

yet another "I'm so above everything that isn't conventional because of how experienced I am" faggot.

You'd think people would get tired of these idiots since everyone knows their complaints, thoughts, and opinions are totally baseless and are contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.

Because of le Reddit boogeyman. I find it funny to hate this game, because it doesn't try and be anything more than a twist on the typical mindless LN, while saying some thought-provoking stuff.

The problem here is rather that you and the rabid fanboys think the game is trying to be more than it actually is, which it doesn't. It's not phenomenal, but it's not bad either. I've played many VN's, and I don't saw the need to make it "compete" with the really good ones that I know. That being said, I thought it was worth the 4 hours. It was pretty entertaining.

Does the scary shit start happening right when you perform in front of the audience or some shit? I played for 30 minutes but then got bored.

I thought it was worth the 4 hours and just like another user said it was nothing more than a twist on a typical mindless VN.
That's why I don't like it.
I probably would've liked it more if it was longer and if Natsuki had an actual route during Act 2.
I also don't like how they reminded you that you can look into the char folder like 5 times, I got it the first time

Personally I found the meta angle really lazy and boring. The suicide scene shocks people because it feels real and it's about a character you like and can symphatize with, but after that it blows it's load with the whole "its just a game" aspect which just cheapens it. Undertale made you care about it's characters (at least that was the idea) so wheb flowey asks you at the end not to play it ever again you feel compelled to obey because you don't want to undo the happy ending, even though you know it's just a game. At the end of DDLC I didn't give a shit about anything and it wasn't particularly scary given the limitations of the VN format. It should have disturbed me by telling a well-crafted dark story but all it could do was turn the yandere self-aware and I'm fairly certain there's already an actual VN that does that, at least I've seen webms of it.

It doesn't even get to that point.

it was old and tired after MGS2 did it back in 2001. DDLC does nothing new, has more menu bullshit than Pony Island, and most importantly isn't scary at all.

There are a few VNs where one of the characters takes control of the game so the concept isn't new in it's own genre. But surprise they aren't popular because they weren't made by english speaking white people cashing in on the meme of creepy-pasta style games like FNAF or undertale

It was lost potential. Had the game opted for more existential horror (like SOMA for example) instead of psychological horror le photorealistic eyes xD youtuber-bait, or went another angle entirely and maybe focused on some more heavy issues like Sayori's depression, cutting, abusive parents while investing more heavily in the poem mechanic, maybe fleshing it out more the game could have turned out a whole lot better. The game wasn't bad, it was a fun experience, but like most popular games it was overhyped by its cancer fanbase.

>cashing in
>free game

>But surprise, they aren't popular because they're in moon
Not everyone knows Japanese, user.

There have been some heavy speculation that the game is basically an advert for a future game that is going to cost money.

cashing in as in ripping off to make yourself more popular

>cancer fanbase
Is the fanbase really cancer cause I haven't seen many complain about it. With Undertale people couldn't go 5 seconds with saying how its fanbase was cancer

maybe i'm just living under a rock

I thought the game was fun and it really left an impact on me as a person.

I know the DDLC fanbase started disliking all the Game Grump's Christmas videos when they interrupted their DDLC uploads for them (even though they've interrupted regular series for Christmas specials every year). Eventually, Arin caved and started uploading DDLC instead of their Christmas specials because people wouldn't stop complaining and disliking their non-DDLC videos.

novels belong on lit, not vee

Why? DDLC is a game and It's on Steam with a 10/10 rating

I checked the like/dislike ratio and i see nothing out the ordinary for a channel of their size. Also went into the comments and they already had episodes recorded but thety just put those episodes out a little early. Plus that's nothing compared to what some Undertale fans did to Markiplier. I'm not saying yelling at Arin to post more DDLC was a good thing but its really not that bad

From what I've seen the DDLC fanbase might fair better then Undertale's. Like i said I don't see many endlessly hating the fanbase

feel sorry for you

No one really hates it. There's just no reason to care about this game, it's just a subpar attempt at doing what ToToNo did better years ago. Everyone hates its fanbase though, and for a good reason.

>dead horse
what

DDLC is a ripoff.

I heard that this VN isn't that great as a whole from people who have played it. I also don't understand why it's a sin to reuse a concept.

it's a sin to reuse a concept without improving it

This isn't even fully translated. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to know Japanese.

Natsuki

I hope you don't actually believe this dumb shit you just wrote.

I couldn't believe it when I discovered this game a few weeks ago watching my favourite Youtuber. This game is so deep, like, it's a satire, a parody if you will, of the visual novel genre, indeed of anime itself; it pulls no punches in deconstructing the genre brick by brick and it is utterly merciless in its demolition of the fourth wall. That said, it's still a fanastic game in its own right with believable, three-dimensional characters. Let me go even further and say that DDLC captures perfectly the zeitgeist of the latter 2010s, it's the Rick and Morty generation, the meme generation, the twitch.tv generation, the winner winner chicken dinner generation, encapsulated, bottled up and served for your gaming pleasure.

Now please excuse me, I need to go and bingewatch The One Piece Man on Crunchyroll XD

t. chink

>it was old and tired after MGS2 did it back in 2001
That's not my definition of a 'dead horse', but okay.

that's why you aren't a great artist who steals everything.

Sup Forums is singular.

Sup Forums is single. Call me.

It frustrates me bc it gets these great reviews from people who have never played a vn, will never play a vn, and yet claim it breaches new territory for vns. It isn't a bad game, but it gets too much credit despite being derivative as fuck. And instead of getting people interested in trying more VNs, they're just gonna endlessly jerk this one off.

It's popular therefore I must hate it as per Sup Forums protocol

This is an outright lie, Dan got sick with the flu and couldn't record.

Like, why are faggots so obsessed with what people think about their games? DDLC is an alright short VN, Which appealed a lot of people thanks to a cool twist and likeable characters yet it gets hate because it's popular.

Since it's free it's not worth getting mad about but it wasn't particularly good either

So I literally just finished it and now it says I can't play without reinstalling. Do I continue or is this the proper end?

There's a slightly different ending if you savescum to see all CGs.
What you gotta do now is deleting the firstrun file if you want to restart the game completely
