Mega Man series, especially X and Zero, always struck me as having the potential for some pretty dope lore but the actual thing is kinda shit.
>beating girls
I caught by cute, drug addict girl cousin stealing from me, so I smacked her around. I'm not gonna lie, it really turned me on how scared and submissive she was.
Resident evil
I hate lore and the internet's obsession with it.
Stories > lore
The only fictional universe I actually find interesting is the Dune universe.
not neccessarily a vidya but JoJos. The number of thing Araki just forgot makes me fucking sad.
Hello Kingdom Hearts.
Hi Darksiders.
Sup, Samurai Shodown?
Please don't post off topic garbage. Mommy's tired.
Final Fantasy but i still love it
Boco you just don't get it. Nobody likes you. We would rather you literally not exist. Like having no posts from you would be preferable
Where the fuck is retcon and inconsistency in Dragon Ball?
it's a pretty straight forward shounen story
but the moon keeps coming back
>final fantasy
which one?
the only thing I remember where they changed the story later is FF3's remake where they basically gave a story and characters to a game that didn't really have much
there are also the dissidia games where they fuck around with the characters but it's not like those are canon in the first place
didn't they even say that they wished it back with the dragon balls?
and after Dende they can also ask the same wish as many times as they want
Lore is people inspiration for some secondhand creativity. Imagining how something played out can be just as interesting as reading it.
Easier to say Kami did it.
The first time. That second time when Piccolo blew it up is non-canon filler.
Reading this and to this moment there's nothing that absolutely breaks the lore or shit like that, only minor shit and problems with dub. That said, DB story isn't exactly the standard for the greatest shounen story ever, still love that shit though

>I hate lore and the internet's obsession with it.
I can see where you're coming from. Too many fans treat the release of new media as just an assortment of lore tidbits, and tend disregard the actual narrative and its quality.
tekken
WEW HOLY SHIT MAN
Tried to catch up on RE lore after only playing the ps1 games back in the day. What the FUCK happened?
What about when Arale did it twice?
these are all small bloopers people hardly even notice, not really retcons they intentionally wanted to change the lore with
Beerus's power was retconned after the movie, now the difference between him and Goku is much bigger
The method for achieving SSJ was retconned (instead of anger, you just gotta concentrate ki in your back)
Power scaling doesn't make sense in many ocassions, for example base Goku fights equally against SS2 Caulifla because muh skill, but she somehow adapts to his fighting style and forces him to SS2, yet she still puts up a fight even though SS2 is dozens, if not a hundred times stronger than base. If SS2 Caulifla had problems against base Goku then she should be utterly stomped by Goku in any SS form, just like an ant can't beat up an elephant or a gorilla in a fight by sheer skill because the difference is too big. Skill and strategy have never mattered in a series where all the characters are blobs of meat punching each other at high speed, yet they're forcing to introduce the idea that they do.
Also the Jiren fights don't make sense. SSBKKx10 Goku couldn't even hurt Jiren with a direct kick to his face, and now he's able to fight him in SSB with no Kaioken.
I think the biggest retcon that bothers me is that DBZ made a big deal about how potara earrings are permanent, but they're not anymore.
pls no bully boco
Did they give a reason? I mean they had to otherwise how do they explain Supreme Kai and his attendant?
I thought the SSJ think wasn't a retcon, just a reunderstanding. Like, being angry caused the user to subconciously concentrate on the ki in their back, since the characters don't seem to know chakra points and that's the best way they know to describe it. After they know where they were putting their ki in, it can be done independently of emotion. But maybe I'm just fanwanking but thats how I got it
COD Zombies
I looked into it on a whim one day and there's way more plot than any horde mode needs. The funny thing is all the inconsistencies between the different maps and versions are explained using either time travel or cosmic bullshit. Then there's alternate universes and whatnot scenarios, its a mess. All I care about it it's getting an automatic weapon.
It is actually canon. That is why vegeta had to make his artificial moon when he fought goku.
Metal Gear. The series has never been truly consistent, eve
To be fair, a lot of the retcons in RE were due to English sources making shit up or using the SD Perry novels for reference.
>just a reunderstanding
Then that completely invalidates the training that Goku and Gohan underwent in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, in which Goku specifically explained to Gohan how to go Super Saiyan.
sup
The method for achieving SSJ was never really sure, it was just a thing "legends said" and the method how Goku and Vegeta achieved it.
Power levels were always somewhat inconsistent, but I guess you can explain it with the characters just performing better/worse sometimes.
the dumbest thing about this is there was zero reason the retcon needeed to happen: Goku and Vegeta could have just used the fuison dance
Also, they also retconned how you could only use it once per lifetime
it was the method Goku knew, it doesn't mean it's the only method
*Metal Gear. The series has never been truly consistent, even MGS1 retconned shit from the MSX2 games.
Gag manga rules.
Who the fuck gets into the Mass Effect series late? The first game is pretty fucking important to the second game and the third game is infamous for being bad, so no one in their right minds would play that unless they're somehow hooked on the series.
>only use it once per lifetime
That's clearly just referencing that they'd never be able to unfuse, and you couldn't fuse two fusions together.
The Fate series. Originally it always seemed like too much of a bother to look into, but after the FGO english release I figured what the hell.
I don't know which is sadder, the utterly wasted potential that the series had, or that it was less of a dickpandering waifu-fest when it was literally porn.
Pic related is pretty much the straw that broke the camels back.
The Japanese don't have any idea, what the fuck they're doing. Look to the English for good storytelling. Japanese writing is insanely convoluted and typically ends in tragedy without the reader or observer having any fucking idea how it came to be. Which works for people with aspergers because they don't care about the mid point in a story anyways.
I think they said somewhere Kai and Kibito used a wish to separate.
Dishonored is the worst offender in recent memory.
I've never been so split fucking polarized on a series of games because the 1st drew me into and established a really interesting world and characters that I fell into and wanted to know more about; and then the sequels completely shat on the writing in every way while admittedly improving the actual core gameplay.
Well, its not really shit. The problem is that you can't delve too deep with the lore, because you really only have what the games games give you.
goku isn't the best teacher or the best learner.
Gohan probably has a way better idea of how to explain it. He did write a book about it after all.
I don't know why you expected anything other than what you got. The only connection I have to the series is having watched Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero and what shit I've seen and read on Sup Forums and I know pretty much exactly what to expect.
Not in Japan. They have reference books and guides out the ass.
Metal Gear Solid was partly a reboot of the series, it's not really fair calling it a retcon
>archie wanted to tie everything together.
I liked how Shadow Man turned out to be related to Duo and Sunstar.
Hate it when that happens. I'm quite the storyfag myself and of the same opinion as you, so it made me ditch the series.
Yeah, but even those only go so deep.
>inconsistencies
>Zero series
How so?
