Mouselook isn't the same as mouse movement. Doom let you look side to side and move forwards/backwards with the mouse, but never look up and down. Doom 1 and 2 never had freelook, it was always locked to the x axis.

Autoaim jars the shit out of me, regardless of skill implication. I can tell when a game has it on by default, because it feels like the game is fighting me for the controls. And when its not 'aiming for you' but changing the fire direction, I get disoriented by the fact the cursor doesn't mean anything.

Put an indicator on the doors as to what key you're supposed to use instead of just telling you the door is locked and giving you three non-descript keys in levels open enough to encounter all three doors before you find any keys forcing you to backtrack through everything until you find where you're supposed to go.

Better level design. RR just didn't get it. Keys are just another tool to design an interesting level, but you need a clever design to make it work.

E4 isn't a bad episode at all. It's just the first two levels are rough because it doesn't have the tight level design as the rest of the episode or even the rest of the original doom.

If you are talking about level construction, something that bugs me it's that modern tools don't use brushes anymore, it's just predefined assets. You can edit these assets at some extent, but the results are far for what you can make with brushes.

I'm not saying is a proper tool for modern games, but it really feels different. Not better, different

There's a difference between autoaim and aim assist you fucking bitch ass. Can't believe nobody called you out on this. Autoaim is what old ass FPS games had where you can be off with your aiming but it will still hit an enemy. Aim assist is what console shooters use to automatically position your crosshair onto your enemies.

IIRC Quake's autoaim is automatically disabled if you enable fulltime mouse look.
