Unpopular opinion: I really like that the map isn't randomized. It makes it more replayable, imo, in same way that Resident Evil 1 does. It becomes a game of planning your routes and trying to be efficient. Also has a great atmosphere that can be quite spooky sometimes.
>Trying to start an actual thread in the midst of all this cardboard shitposting I admire your efforts
Josiah Long
I just wanted to talk about Subnautica...
Caleb Gray
It is futile. FUTILE!
Juan Nguyen
is this game ever coming out of early access?
Josiah Gomez
On the 23rd. About 5 days from now.
Liam Wright
Thought I saw an announcement recently that it's close? Although given how much stuff is in it now and how refined it's gotten even if it's technically still early access I kind of feel like it's getting to be worth it even if the dev was hit by a bus tomorrow.
>Unpopular opinion Is that really an unpopular opinion? I really enjoy (and miss) more hand crafted maps in games rather then random, where the challenge as you say more comes from optimizing, trying crazy new stuff, and so forth in a known world.
Jaxon Price
Maybe its not so unpopular but here, I did see complaints about it being the same every time. I played this about year ago, so seeing all the new content and UI and such is pretty refreshing too.
I'm playing on lower settings because my PC is a literal toaster and the game still looks better than it did. Feels a lot more stable too.
Jace James
I don't think that's an unpopular opinion, and knowing that and the fact that it's coming out of early access soon means I might actually get it.
Blake Thompson
>If things are always the same, there is more replayability.
Hudson Cooper
brainlet poster go find a cardboard thread
Justin Green
I bought this game a while ago, but didn’t have much of a drive to play it. Told myself I’d play it when it comes out of Early Access. Really excited for the release now.
Gabriel Roberts
Apparently, you can go all the way to the ending, just the final action you do isn't in yet. Plus, I've been told that the save file will carry over and you wont need to start over.
Xavier Murphy
...
John Torres
These exploding little shitheads are driving me mad. What do? I'm only at the beginning. Couldn't even kill them with my survival knife before they exploded in my face.
Levi Young
I don't know if you're baiting but I used Resident Evil 1 for a reason, that game is probably the shining example of a static that remains the same is one of the most replayable games ever made. The Mansion is like a maze and you have to decide whether or not its worth killing a zombie, you also need to plan out how you're going to get whatever item you need. It's like a meta puzzle and Subnautica has a similar appeal to that.
Wyatt Perez
I fucking hate those things. I think they got nerfed a bit because remember being one-shot by them at some point.
Alexander Bell
Fucking google "REmake guide" and read. The game has no replayability other than once every couple of years, you are simply stupid.
Oliver Smith
Are you for fucking real? This is shitpost.
Just in case you're serious though, that's retarded. Why even play a video game when you don't like having to learn it yourself? Sometimes a guide can be helpful if you're stuck at something but learning and memorizing the game is, in and of itself, the joy of playing a video game.
Logan Parker
dont bother you're talking to a dumb brainlet posting kid that thinks arguing about nothing is a valuable use of time
Dylan Richardson
Don't even try. They are only good for the sulfur their nests spawn. If you go cave-diving I'd just out run them with the seaglide.
Grayson Cox
>not taming two ghost leviathans and tying them to your cyclops giving you super sanic speed Everyone here needs to get on my level
Brandon Brooks
N-NANI!?
Noah Gomez
Why would I ever need the cyclops to go that fast? Good luck crashing into everything.
Nicholas Lewis
Has anything been added in the past 5 months?
Brody Cruz
HOW ABOUT THOSE SUBMARINE MOVING TRUCKS?
Jaxon Collins
It seems like everything is in except for the endgame considering you can both cure the infection and build the rocket.
Jason Johnson
>Unpopular opinion I hate that torpedos are fucking worthless. You'd think that after getting bullied in your Seamoth by the Reaper Leviathan, you can eventually come back for round 2 and blast that motherfucker in the face with some torps or hunt him white whale style with a harpoon... but no, you only get some fish fart torpedos and some torpedos that create some kiddy whirlpool.
I get that the intent is that you shouldn't kill anything that moves, but that kind of sentiment is thrown out of the water, as soon as you dart around in your Seamoth and running over countless of Peepers and other fish, doubly so when in the Cyclops.
Elijah Taylor
So they're universally a nuisance then. Kind of weird they're introduced so early. There are literally no way to outrun them at start unless you abused the shitty pathfinding.
Oliver Wood
Running over small wildlife that were never a threat don't really break the intent of the game. Anything listed as "predator" will universally be a nuisance.
Jordan Morris
But Man is the Apex predator.
Cameron Robinson
Stutter: The Pop-in would be a more appropriate name for it.
Connor Lopez
Note "nuisance." The game isn't hard if you just go around your problems. Ghost Leviathans do petty damage with the reinforced suit and stalkers are a joke.
Joseph Ward
We are talking about replayability, you faggot. It's safe to assume that the poster fucking played it before? Read the thread before posting, you nigger.
Camden Bailey
>Kind of weird they're introduced so early.
Because their nests are full of sulfur needed to make the Laser Cutter and Repair Tool.
Samuel Clark
Is it officially completed yet? I've been putting off playing this to wait for it to be out of early access.
Jason Jenkins
It's pretty much done. The full release is the 23rd.
Logan Parker
Thats not the issue. They're not hard to deal with, it's more about petty revenge. When I first played the game, my Seamoth got blown to bits when I first returned to the Aurora. When I heard you could built a torpedo system, I was eager to build them, only to be severely dissapointed.
SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHALE
Luis Barnes
you dont fight in subnautica. get the seaglide and fins. you can outswim them and thell explode harmlessly. then, you can harvest the nest.
late game, you can fight things somewhat effectively with the stasis rifle+thermoknife.
Caleb Peterson
Propulsion Cannon + Crash Fish = dead Reaper.
Chase Johnson
They fixed that months ago.
Isaac Flores
>mfw people got pissy when Subnautica's staunchly defensive playstyle was revealed
Jace Turner
I guess I agree. I never got the point of the torpedoes anyway if they couldn't do that.
Caleb Perez
lethal should be kept to a minimum but its retarded in a survival situation to actively forbid weapons. at least get me a harpoon gun for fucks sake.
James Fisher
What the hell is Lagiacrus doing in that OP image?
Tyler Nguyen
its not that people were mad about the defensive style it was more how the dev made it a point to virtue signal
>woe is me with things like columbine and sandy hook I think I need to take a stance against video game violence and remove guns and make the game more focused on just passive/defensive survival
Nathaniel Fisher
>Unpopular opinion: How is that an unpopular opinion? I've never seen anyone say they wanted procedurally generated maps in this game, or any game really. They're almost always complete shit.
Austin Torres
>its retarded in a survival situation to actively forbid weapons
The game already explains why they forbid weapons though, Alterra actively distrusts their (disposable) employees from not using a Fabricator to make like, a thousand shotguns and go on a rampage.
Brandon Myers
Come out into the Dead Zone and see me, little thing.
Luke Hall
No they didn't. There was a patch aimed at 'optimization'. There is nothing else devs can do.
And a fresh multipage thread on steam is testament that stutter is just as shit.
Jack Stewart
A dev. There's 20 people working on the game and only one of them went on that soapbox. The game has plenty of ways to kill shit that are more interesting and less cliche than boring-ass guns.
Mason Walker
It's especially tedious when you play Survival and you have to grab like 10 or so Peepers for food and a few Bladderfish for water.
I know the Stasis Rifle is an option, but whats so hard about implementing a harpoon?
Parker Collins
Your opinion is good, and you should feel good.
Also, Subnautica needs some zoidbergs scuttling across the fungal forest floor.
Jace Garcia
The gravity gun acts as a harpoon for small fish
William Hughes
Well, the Sunbeam comes to our rescue and gets blown from the sky.... so why can't we find some guns/lethal weapons after that when its basically late game anyway?
Henry Campbell
They baked the terrain, removed voxels, and did nearly a thousand fixes and adjustments. And I've had no problems with stuttering or slowdown with my medium-quality rig since then.
You do know that the Propulsion Cannon exists, right, which grabs fish and objects and pulls them right to you. Alien Containment also exists, put two Reginalds in one and you'll never run out of food.
Samuel Cook
>There are literally no way to outrun them at start So wait until you get one of the things mentioned above, retard. Holy shit. There's no reason to even go near them anymore now that the drop has changed.
Juan Harris
>Subnautica needs some zoidbergs Sea Treader.
Isaiah Gray
i know the lore. the fabricator is also programmed to restrict what you can and cannot create based on location. it knows you are alone and in a very dangerous survival situation. ONE harpoon gun.
Robert Collins
There are few of them in the cave near starting point that have a lot of copper and silver to craft shit with. Sorry for not being an expert because I've only played it for an hour though.
Daniel Richardson
Well, something that has worked for me was to use the airbag to get away from the more exposed exploders in the very early game just for the sulfur.
Brandon Wright
its mostly a philosophical issue by the dev. atmosphere n shit. mind, the game is great otherwise.
Ryder Thomas
...
David Walker
I've been playing cowardly just to avoid losing the carry space to more tools and weapons. Is there any weapon worth carrying around? I just use a thermo-knife for food.
Joseph Wood
Not Zoidberg enough
Tyler Gomez
the sunbeam didnt have any weapon i guess?
Chase Carter
Why scuttle when you can bob.
Juan Gutierrez
>so why can't we find some guns/lethal weapons after that
The Sunbeam was like, a small little passenger ship. From the looks of it the thing was hardly more than a glorified space taxi, why would it have guns?
Andrew Collins
this shit terrify me. ghost and reaper are lethal threats but THIS just....nope.
Brayden Lewis
>I really like that the map isn't randomized Thats an unpopular opinion? I thought that was one of the main selling points that its actually a thought out world
Justin Ward
well, it is his job after all
Easton Butler
Propulsion/Repulsion Cannon and Stasis Rifle.
Michael Butler
Oh no, don't get me wrong - I love the game, the atmosphere and the different Biomes. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it's not really an issue since the game gives you some roundabout options. But thats whats a little annoyance to me - "roundabout". Sometimes, a problem can be fixed with some high explosive torpedo.
You could also use them to crack open some rockslides and find some hidden caves or something.
Camden Collins
Tip: Sea Treaders are OP in that they leave shale deposits in each of their footprints. EZ Gold, Diamonds, and Silver.
Noah Howard
Why were the other lifepod plebs so unlucky?
Sebastian White
>hurr shills It's sad when Sup Forums thinks anyone who actually wants to discuss video games is a shill. Is our board culture really "Everything must be shitposting" now?
Julian Parker
>it knows you are alone and in a very dangerous survival situation. ONE harpoon gun.
Yeah, which is why it lets you make a knife and numerous advanced devices that include gravity guns, stasis rifles and propulsion cannons. Alterra doesn't think you will need *even more* when those are available.
Carson Hughes
An effective quarantine I guess. You were the odd one out.
Anthony Wright
It has been for a long time now user.
Matthew Long
It's a small cargo ship if nothing else and space is huge. If I were to haul some goods, I'd at least pick up a handgun or something. I mean, I'm not expecting an M32 Rotary Grenade Launcher or anything like that.
Justin Peterson
Can you fucking leave the god damn planet yet?
Ayden Garcia
Just come a little closer, dooks are friend.
Austin Howard
That's added in the full release I think. You can build the rocket.
Gabriel Gray
The Alterran fears the Warper.
Gavin Sullivan
>build a rocket >only to crash on one of the moons buy dlc
Ryan Stewart
These niggas irl hit harder than a bullet, ingame they would probably oneshot your cyclops even with upgrades
Colton Howard
>expansion confirmed after launch
Hopefully they'll make the Arctic biome, finish the Twisty Bridges and Lilypad Islands biomes, and expand the map with them along with a Great Barrier Reef biome, Marianas Trench biome, and maze tree biome. Also add the Rock Puncher and some of the concept art creatures they didn't put into 1.0.
Brayden Peterson
They fix the bug where the music will cut off in the middle of a track? Kinda immersion breaking
Zachary Fisher
Has anyone actually bothered with the cuddlefish or are they just pointless?
Daniel Hughes
>Why would I ever- BECAUSE YOU'RE A MAN AND THIS IS WHAT MEN DO. CAN YOU FEEL THE NEEEEED? THE NEEEEED FOR SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED
Aiden Walker
>Marianas Trench biome So Dead Zone expansion?
Carter Roberts
I'm honestly glad all the fishes have such goofy bright color scheme (especially the big ones), otherwise I wouldn't be able to face them.
Not quite, have a trench along the Dunes and Mountains border on the west side of the map extending it out about 500 meters, with some Dunes and Mountains on the other side before going into the Dead Zone, and goes down to 1000 meters or so, with a Wreck and a Precursor Cache down inside it along with some creatures only found there.
Ryan Harris
how would you make a more horror oriented/darker version of this game?
Jose Carter
Model the starting area off the Deep Grand Reef and just go from there.
Aiden Ramirez
>expecting bright colours to save you
Christian Peterson
Reduce brightness, increase contrast, gives all leviathan classes darker, more menacing color scheme.
William Davis
>game is called subnautica >you aren't a sub tour guide in nautica
