>underground and most wanted suck
Fuck you motherfucker

Agreed. Need For Speed was only ever good when it was a racing game. Open world and story mode NFS a shit. NFSIII is my GOAT racing game.

>implying

>No one would ever believe me I saw special police cars in NFS3 once
I swear they were different

Agreed. Back before it was wigger trash and just about racing fancy cars

>most wanted
>suck
uninstall your post

WE GOIN'
WE GOIN'
WE GOIN'
WE GOIN' DOWN ON IT

NFS3 is boring as fuck. Shit physics shit tracks and every race drags on for way too long.

Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2 is a million times better.

Is there any relatively modern racing game that plays like NFS3/NFS4?

>game from the 1800s has cockpit camera
>modern NFS games don't

Hot Pursuit 2 was pretty cool
Porsche was ok
Underground 2 was probably the best
Most Wanted was cool as well
NFS 2 probably my fav, cuz that's the one I started with

I’m sorry, what were you saying?

Corvette and diablo right? I remember them. Ps1 version. I never found out what was the trigger for them to appear

>diablo
Yeah exactly. I have seen them once and never again, and I played this game a shitton.

No, but you probably haven't played Motorhead so play that.

^ this. Braindead kids steered the serries into bein "need for story".

Alright anons. Payback did not go the way EA wanted. Give me your ideas for the next game. It can be about anything, be it gameplay wise, story wise, sound wise etc.

46 TO COUNTY

...

HP2 with an updated soundtrack and car roster also new maps

HP2's soundtrack is perfect as it is, faggot

This

Cockpit camera with working instruments, no less. It's legit 100% possible to play through all of High Stakes (and probably NFS3 as well) with the entire HUD turned off, and on some of the cars the tach doesn't quite match up but in others it's actually better to shift at the redline shown on the ingame model instead of the one on the HUD.

Aren't they just on a per-track basis? IIRC Hometown has the Caprice, Redrock Ridge has the SUVs, Empire City has the Diablo, etc. Might be wrong and it might be per-version (PS1 vs. PC) but I know it's a thing.

>motorhead

Holy FUCK you just reminded me of this game. I haven't thought of it since I was 13, completely forgot it existed. I remember liking it a lot. Thanks for the nostalgia user.

NFSI
NFSII
NFSIII
NFS:HS
NFS:PU

All of them are god tier, timeless need for speed games.

Anything underground, most wanted, or remotely modern is pure trash.

I bookmarked that game a while back on a Sup Forums suggestion but never got around to playing it, is it good?

I haven't played it in 20 years but I remember it being very fun and a welcome change/replacement for the need for speed and test drive games i was playing at the time.

I like NFS Hot Pursuit 2010

NFS 4, both PC and PS1 versions were fucking incredible. NFS 5, possibly the best NFS game ever but only the PC version, the PS1 version was an abomination.

The only good NFS games after that were Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2 version, the rest sucked) and maybe Hot Pursuit 2010 as it managed to recapture some of the old atmosphere with the country side tracks and focus on exotics.

the pc version of nfs4 had all the tracks from nfs3, so it was basically 2 in 1. One of the best racing games ever made.
I liked Underground 1 as a one-off but everything after that was just garbage. I can't believe that ghost said "we are going back to the roots of NFS" and released fucking NFS 2015. Its like if "going back to the roots of CoD" meant going back to CoD 4.

Close, but no cigar my friend.

Project Gotham Racing games are all similiar to oldschool NFS games in terms of driving, car selection and track design, though unfortunately it's basically all city tracks there.
Driveclub reminded me A LOT of NFS4, it just needed the cops. The tracks had the same atmosphere, and there was no fluff just pure racing. Unfortunately the game is locked to PS4 so all you get is 30 fps.

Forza Horizon games aren't really in the vain of NFS3/4 but they're damn good games. All they need is cops and they would render modern NFS completely irrelevant.

...

Man, HP2010 is garbage. Car handling is a complete joke, completely braindead drift-to-win cornering, and it has a really shitty metagame of arbitrarily driving on the oncoming lane to generate nitro. Underground 1 or 2 may have had that mechanic too but their tracks weren't as straightforward and wide as HP 2010's so it wasn't something you could depend on as much as you could in HP 2010. It's a shit game with boneheaded gameplay design.

Is there any arcade racing game that similar to Hot Pursuit 2 but with better graphics?

>No arcade racer with an autismal amount of ricing on Steam

I hear Forza is good, but I'm not dealing with the microshit store.

my nigga

>no one has mentioned their magnun opus

It's an amazing game but it's very different from the NFS games that came before it.
Porsche Unleashed is just so much more realistic.

I agree, Porche Unleashed was something so different that it really can't be compared, everytime i played it it felt sophisticated and great, i don't know, it looked so genuine to me at the time, maybe it was the cars were presented, more than anything.

>Emulating instead of playing the PC version
user pls

damn that was a great cover

>that feel when I used to play NFS3 with my dad all the time.
>that feel when that was the only time my dad would ever embrace the vidya

Nfs 1 se to NFS ug2 are classics

Anything after was meh I liked carbon and pro street but lost interest in the series after that.

Nfs shift was awesome but short lived.

Shame racing games are all Sims or silly crap no middle ground.

Oh well most of the talent went to playground games from codemasters anyway for a horizon 1-3 are modern classics

what's the general consensus on NFS2SE? too arcadey?

also: where can I find a downloadable full ISO of the game?

I've found about this the other day
github.com/zaps166/NFSIISE/blob/master/README.md

and I'm willing to test it on the road

>tfw if it weren't for Di Prisco posting about it no one would have learned that Saki Kaskas passed away
Semi relatedly, I've been playing Hollow Knight recently and it turns out Jeff Dyck was one of the composers for that so that's neat.

1320 style modern 2010-2020s underground racing street series about a world government that has banned cars for being too high powered and dangerous. Everyone has to drive low power autonomous ev shtboxes

The game centers around multiple protags and the story is barebones and plays similar to mad Max 2015

Part psycho horror part gta part Sim racer.

You get upgrades for your retro deathtrap by killing other players cars for scrap on open roads usually at night and race street drags for money and power.

Can be played online as a mmo or offline against bots

Simcade handling and pro realism modes.

Dashboard or 3rd person view.

Would be awesome if they did something like this with a retrowave vibe but I doubt anyone at ea can be fucked since they've been remaking the same shit for decades.

Game will be styled on neo noir 80s and 90s gritty sci fi dramas

>Saki Kaskas passed away
>mfw that was 2 years ago
What the fuck man

>shame racing games are all sims or silly crap no middle ground

I wish someone would make a good outrun 90s style retroracer

youtube.com/watch?v=Sl50X26Yy8Y

;(

My favorites are NFS III; Hot Pursuit and Underground 2.

The new(ish) one from 2015 is pure shit and I wasted my money on it.

NFSU3
Make it as tacky and early 2000s as the first two.

PSX has different tracks and music

>story
>racing game
It really couldn't be better than Ridge Racer Type 4. 4 teams to choose, 4 short stories, a whole fictional racing championship with 8 races with progressively faster vehicles. I really hate how games like to shove unnecessary shit just to extend the time, "WOAH THE GAME ONLY HAS 20 HOURS? SHIT!!". For example, I love NFS Underground and Most Wanted, but there are so many races and challenges to do and most of them are repeated sections just in name of "hours of fun". 111 races in NFSU, really? Go short, that's the way I like it. 19 years later and I still replay R4 for the godlike music or to have my heart melt when Reiko Nagase sends a letter to PRC.

>no middle ground

Are you fucking kidding me? There are nothing but middle ground games coming out these past years. We have Forza Horizon, the new Forza, gt sport, project cars

Those can be played by casuals and you can always have abs and tc on to make it easy.

Are you crazy? What type of game you want in this "middle ground" of yours?

>underground and most wanted suck
fuck
you

Anons usually use wrongly the expression "comfy", I started to hate it. But NFS Porsche on PS1 is one of the few games I can truly call comfy, can't think in anything better than the Classic and Golden era, visual and soundwise. Hell, even looking at your car in garage is amazing due to the music. I wish PC version had this ost.
youtube.com/watch?v=6quV122vGnA&

>Nfs shift was awesome
NFS Shift was crap not because the setting, but the shit controls. Not even the patch saves it much. It fails as an arcade games because even Pro Street is better, it fails as a simcade because TOCA and GRID are way better and it fails as a sim for obvious contenders. Fuck, I really wanted to like it but everything is done half assed, it was one of the rare games I ever uninstalled for being crap

thegamer.com/ranking-every-need-for-speed-game-from-worst-to-best/

how does this make you feel?

NFSIII demo had Corvette police cars. On the other hand, Corvette was the only car available in the demo.

TO THE WINDOW

>tfw Lamborghini Diablo SV is your fav sports car only because of this game

dude what
the PS1 version is arcadey as fuck, much faster paced and the tracks are mostly circuits.
the PC version is the definition of comfy, point to point races with multiple different routes, slower pace due to better handling, actual cockpit view, changing weather on some tracks (alps and autobahn)

the ps1 version was good too but the PC version is just on another level

this is a laughable list

It's shit.

The Full PC version had Corvette police cars mixed in with the track-dependent cars like the caprices or SUV's.
Never saw the AI in an El Nino or Diablo though.

>NFS 3 and 4 as some of the 3 worst games in the series
>about NFS 3: "nfortunately for Hot Pursuit, its graphics aren’t enough to make up for some generic gameplay and it lacks the open world style that fans of the game enjoy so much."
>NFS World and fucking NFS Nitro which looks like and play like mobile garbage ahead those two
>NFS Shift better than Porsche unleashed
>NFS Undercover and Burnout Pursuit better than anything
>OG TNFS not even figuring in top 10
11/10 clickbait, made me legitemately mad

Need for speed 2049

This is why I refered only to Classic and Golden era, the vehicles aren't fast other than the 917K and some 911 models, racing in snowy Germany or in France with a 356 or 914 is max comfy. And the circuits are relatively long as the cars go really slow, I don't see that as a problem. I can't feel the same with the PC version I really don't know why, even though it was pretty nice when I tried using a wheel,

AREN'T YOU BEING TOO HASTY, SWEETIE?

...

oh man the dashboard alone in the old nfs games was great, not to mention the exotic cars ans music, now its all tuning
>btw remember when old nfd made fun of tuners in nfs4 ?

I gotta agree with HP 2010 being #3. No bs story, just what the title implies. Very good game, cutscenes are fucking annoying though.

Disregard that I suck cocks

>dream cars and exotic (at the time) japanese cars in NFS1
>mostly concept vehicles and supercars in 2
>same thing in 3
>some affordable cars and supercars in 4
>Porsche focused game in 5
>HP2 still has its veins on expensive cars or supercars
>after NFSU - LMAO HONDA CIVIC MIATA ESCALADE
But what bothers me is not a issue in NFS only, but in racing games general. All of them got the same cars. All of them have a Gallardo, a Zonda, a Veyron, whatever the meme car flavor of the month. NFS 2 and 3 got cars you didn't ever heard about and figured in almost no game after it. God, I truly want a game with a GT90 and Calá again
