Try asking again
It's a fun game if you can deal with the learning curve and with people sometimes being dicks.
I've got 1k hours in dota, I quit before the addition of Monkey King.
I hear it's totally fucked now. I'd probably get my ass raped if I tried to play again but lately I've been having the MOBA itch
its not fun even when you learn the game so you should just play league.
definitely
the golden age of dota has long been over
Yes. Started in 2006 and quit in 2015. Never looked back after that. The magic is gone
Yes, the game will be dead soon anyways, dont waste your time
you'll be frustrated learning all the heroes and the meta and you'll be even more frustrated once you've gitten gud and people around you fuck up.
There will be a golden middle in there but it's short
No, give it a shot. Hardcore fags are mad about 7.00 but the game is still fun.
in b4 a bunch of whiny faggots reply to prove me wrong when all they're doing is showing they're huge babies
play HOTS to scratch the itch :^)
Best advice here
So what game should I play instead?
LoL
Nah, you're fine. Learning curve is pretty brutal but at this point there are loads of good resources for you to get started.
Best tip I can give you though is to find dedicated people to play with, the community is absolutely horrible. And you can't escape the russians/BR's either.
It's not worth getting in to at any point, it's frustrating and rearly rewarding
pic rel
>rearly
cause you're retarded
>sometimes being dicks
>Sometimes
The cast majority of you interactions with people will people being idiots or assholes.
Pretty much this they are angry that game have changed to better and can't adopt to changes since they got burned out with game anyway. But still cries on forums how shitty dota is even tho they haven't played single match in a year or longer.
Didn't they have a big update half a year ago? Isn't it like Dota 2.5 now? Maybe even Dota "3"
Lack of region lock killed this game for me.
Get a feeder on your team and 9 times out of 10 he'll be Peruvian.
If you enjoy the pretense of some of the game's major game-cycles - farm, fight, push, gank, support - you should try to invest more effort to become better.
The main feel you get from any of these activities are pretty stable, even as you rank up and play more complex variations.
If you're going to play solo you should definitely take the stance that your and your opponent's team are made out of 9 random people. You are the sole non-random factor in this equation.
No, DOTA 2 will be around for many more years. People still play counter-strike source (2004) and team fortress 2 (2007).
Have fun
Yes, game is dogshit ever since 6.87.
Too late for what? Its a video game pick it up and play it.
better now than ever honestly, esp with Turbo mode.
but its more a hobbyist game than anything, so if you aren't looking for a new hobby don't bother.
7.0 killed it
How?
If anything, it's always becoming a better time to get into dota; the game has been getting more casual and user friendly as time goes on.
>Lack of region lock killed this game for me.
>Get a feeder on your team and 9 times out of 10 he'll be Peruvian.
kinda: Dota devs themselves consciously use shitters to "fix" games. the main reason they forced phone in ranked was to keep smurfs (who are totally cool if you ask me) from scaring shitters away. more and more people feel this, increasing percentage of games become a gamble, you either win big or lose big. both of which enforce the addiction instinct.
OP, it's not really about the complexity of the game, it's how matchmaking is fundamentally and intentionally fucked.
dubs and I play it
Either play solo or with 4 friends any other combination is cancer inducing. But its never too late if you have functioning brain.
There's soft region lock. People speaking the same language tend to get put on the same team. This isn't 100% tho and if too many perus/Russians are present you get some of them on your team. But I think it's better than before. I only party queue and literally have not got a Peru on my team since they implemented soft region lock
Do not waste your life on this piece of shit game which ruined my life
>stop playing dota
>dota introduces turbo
>addicted again
whyy
You know, this patch is quite similar to the ones they serve at League of Legends.
Look at that old hud. I kind of miss it but the new hud is much nicer.
Fact: Only brainlets complain about talents
Play tide
you ruined it
Do it.
7.07 is probably the easiest Dota has been to get into.
How do you guys expect new players to start having fun right away when they play Dota?
why shouldn't they play league?
why should dota deserve to be the number 1 moba?
Battle Rite
I will never touch this piece of shit game again. Almost 2900 hours. Never again. Fuck this game.
It peaked at 6.78. Everything after has been progressively worse. It's fucked beyond repair now. I'm fairly certain Icefrog no longer even balances the game.
No MOBA is worth your time. Spare yourself the misery.
this. go play fighting games or something fun
One Piece Grand Adventure
It's only worth if you got somebody to play with. Solo dota is pure cancer, the game is best enjoyed in a party or in a competitive 5v5 enviroment. Shame Valve ditched the whole Battlecup thing, it's easily the best dota you can get out of that game.
I seriously miss old dota, It looked darked and comfier, visuales werent as jarring, map was more detailed, and best of all, Balancing wasnt such a fucking shitshow.
The game is more balanced than it has ever been, what are you even smoking? Remember when five years ago there was pretty much only two or three heroes that could go to offlane and get something out of it?
Almost 7k hours in dota.
game was fucking ruined since shrines were added. Reborn alone was already terrible.
nah but you're gonna have to work for it. remember you can easily mute all other players from the scoreboard menu.
youtube.com
wait for artifact
This user
It’s some of the most fun I’ve in a game but it’s really not worth it. Thousands of hours and maybe 4-5 good memories.
I miss it sometimes but then I remember How much of a genuine sinkhole it is.
i am legit excited for artifact and while i kinda get the hate for it i think its misplaced and/or misguided.
hell we don't even know if it will actually be a collectible game. it could be expansion set based like fantasy flights LCG/ECG model, or it could be a straight up traditional game.
either way, valve have never made a pay2win game, and one of the biggest selling points for dota is that you don't have to pay for or unlock any of the heroes, so i kinda doubt they will start doing that shit now.
Unironically this
Dont do it.
There is so much wrong with this picture
>tidehunter level 9 with 2.3k hp without hp items
>level 9 40 mins into the fucking game
>AC aura indicating drow ranger bought a fucking AC
>AC on quickbuy despite already having one on the team
>hovering over ring of health for some reason
I miss these old background pictures for dota.
Exactly the same situation. 5530 hours in dota and quit once they revamped everything and added monkey king. The revulsion to relearning everything was a sort of defense mechanism by my brain, much happier now that I'm not wasting my time with it anymore.
>that feeling when you hit the top and know every single game is winnable unless you go against 5 pros if only you had competent teammates
It’s so obnoxious, watching someone who has grinned for years yet obviously doesn’t belong bumble around with their barely 50% winrate
...
I never got into the game. What did they change?
Are MOBAs the video game equivalent of smoking cigarettes?
yes, most begin socially and in the end everyone wants to quit but can't.
balance changes and new items used to be released very slowly and deliberately. Monkey king patch was a massive game change and the patches have changed more and more ever since. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it took a game that everyone understand inside and out for years and changed it too much too fast. Caused a bit of whiplash in the community.
once they pandered to the chinks and put in wraith king I stopped playing and never looked back. I hear they made the hud better but everything worse.
They didn't have you "relearn" anything aside from what level you get your ult at. They added talents as well that basically give you the choice between more damage or survivability at different intervals in the game.
>have shit early game
>your mid flames and feeds
>lose
>have good early game
>their mid flames and feeds
>win
welcome to normal rank dota
it's still fun to a degree
There’s certainly something about them that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
I’ve spent probably 3-4K hours on hots and lol combined. Compared to 10k+ easily on RS and WoW.
Yet I can’t stabd the thought of anymore lol, or really even hots.
Add a couple hundred hours in awesomenauts and strife, and I don’t even want to play those.
Meanwhile, I’d kill for classic to be here sooner, and if the RS devs ever gain some semblance of competency, I’d play that again too. I still can’t believe they haven’t added a battle royale mode. With a few tweaks, it would fit in perfectly, honestly.
everyone but top 10% are shit at the game. so dont worry nobody will outskill you so if you feel like it go for it.
holy FUCK techies came out three fucking years ago
what the christ is happening
its not just talents, its shrines, shitty map and memeback
Have 6.3k hours, played in 2013 and I have idled hours like some fag's have in this thread
>Dota2 map
>it's the exact fucking same as it was sixteen fucking years ago on Warcraft 3
Great game faggots. Icefag sure provided you with high quality constantly updated fresh content. I'd ask you how much you like it but you clearly have far, far too much dick in your mouths to respond.
Imagine being this butthurt over nothing
if blizzard pulled it’s head out of its ass and gave hots some proper mod tools it would be doing so much better. Completely retarded to lock everything down
It's the most accessible it's ever been.
its been updated pretty consistently throughout the years. in fact, its the single most iterated game map in existence.
I quit dota about a year ago and my life has been much better sense, it's such a time sink and addictive. I was a moron and skipped class and dropped out to play more Dota, happily back in school and enjoying other video games for the first time in a long time. I do not recommend playing Dota
memeback has been around ever since 6.81 or something, and it is not nearly as bad as what it used to be
the only shitty part about the new map is that you can't choke point jungle in half of the camps anymore, which was a retarded strat to begin with.
>the only shitty part about the new map [...] which was a retarded strat
so which side are you on.
memeback killed it
>the fucking SEETHING state of Dota2 faggots
Most iterated map in existence? Nigger moving a tree a half pixel in a direction does not equal iteration. It's the exact same fucking layout as sixteen (16) goddamn years ago when it was a TFT custom map. EXACT.
You have been playing the exact same map for SIXTEEN FUCKING YEARS.
t. Riot employee
>Nigger moving a tree a half pixel in a direction does not equal iteration.
i mean, yeah, it does. never said shit about those updates all being significant. bitch all you want lol
Yes and here's why: the hype is long gone as in so dead and can't be resurrected in any way or form, any one left playing this is just a bitter corrupted old men whom will get a kick by tormenting you both in game and off screen in any way possible.
Think Haemonculus from warhammer 40k, you might think you are joining the fun group and getting up in the rank but you're not.
t.brainlet.
Yes. It's like a thousand hour learning curve with no handholding for new players.
You're also going to play with shit players until you get good, so you won't actually be learning anything apart from how stupid you are.
*loses 200k players*
Nah, it has like 3 more years left in the tank.
>game is only dethroned late last year by one other title (pubg)
>LOL DEAD GAME
okay son. calm down now.
You need to stop posting.
>Game has been steadily losing players
>7.00 is unanimously seen as an abomination
>'I-i-it's not dying guys!'
I havent played in a long time. can someone give me a quick rundown on why 7.00 is so bad? Why are people quitting?
