>geography wise
What does that even mean

Either you minmax the positions or you're a tard and just place them randomly

The map ends up looking retarded if you just putting stuff randomly, it looks dumb if you're just trying to get treasures to, I always envisioned Ivalice having a whole bunch of deserts surrounding Cyril and Sprohm, and then farther north being more forests and mountains.

It's cool to see that i'm not the only one that placed the 3 jagds in the north

...

>desert bordering wetland
>grasslands at the coast, then wetland
>not putting wetlands by the lakes/rivers
>not making the desert all to one side of a mountain range rain shadow

Go nuts

>he doesn't want the genji weapons and armor

what a fucking pleb

...

>not minmaxing for the Cinqueda as early as possible so you can ignore the horrific grind with the broken glory of Steal Ability

Having to wait till Jeraw isn't exactly getting it early, sounds like a pain.

I mean, it's still painful, but it's less painful than having to wait even longer for it.

Wow thanks my little brother Doned would love to see this.

>a mountain on a coastal island
>all the gulags next to each other
>forests adjacent to desert

It's shit.

It's a volcano on an island, that tends to be how island form, and the idea is the the extreme part of Ivalice is lawless, instead of say having it next to a town or something.

without a guide how was one supposed to know what to do with the map anyway

...

It's just random bonus items, it's not supposed to be a big deal, but if your autistic then you realize later on that without knowing in advance what places you'll get it ussually ends up being a mess, but you can still figure out at least that putting stuff next to each other gets you extra stuff.

i fucking loved fft art

it was max comfy

...

Isn't there a "canon" map, using evidence from the game itself as well as other Ivalice titles to justify the placement?

...

...

Yeah I think so. The one that gave the best items.

MARCHE WAS RIGHT

...

man never seen that one before

fucking saved

Why are assassins so fucking overpowered? They have like four different one hit KO moves.

other than min maxed maps, not really, other than like 2 or 3 maps that had canon locations next to other stuff, like Deti going to Sienna leading to Ambervale.

The KO moves weren't what made them overpowered, their high speed and long-ranged Oblivion did.

>someone wants to join the clan!
>great stats
>stupid name

this fucking game

what did you name your clan?
I just kept it Nutsy cause anything else I thought of was worse

cant remember, let me dig out my gba

Not him, but Ragnarok

>optimisation is now "minmaxing"
>angry is now "salty"
>program is now "app"
>emoticon is now "emoji"
>randomness is now "RNG"
>manchild is now "content creator"
Are you just going to give each concept a new word every 10 years?

>mfw Steal Ability

it's min maxing because it's building the map around maximum item gains instead of something like building around your personal aethetic for a map, that's what minmaxing is, and it's an old as fuck term.

Riskbreak, since I'd just finished Vagrant Story..

Dem Sniper Assassins. Invisible, Last Breath, and if that doesn't work, Ultima Bow.

Fuck yeah.

Being able to place locations is kinda stupid, especially when you can visit the empty spots and there's nothing there before you place the location.

Oh it's absolutely stupid, especially with missable items.

>tfw FFTA3 never

Avalanche, I hadn't played FF7 yet but I really wanted to, basically anything is better than Nutsy.

>emoticon is now "emoji"

This one fucks me up because an emoticon is something different from an emoji. Emoticons are the text representations like : ), emojis are where they're actually pictures, like the turd or black twitter clapping or whatever the fuck.

i thought it was the shit, it fulfilled my younger autstic obsessive imaginations. i even started drawing maps and shit.

the missable items was kinda shit, though. i wish that was mission dependent.

You just described optimisation, which is the proper term for it.

It was pretty fun, but I liked A2's map to, and it was a lot bigger, A1 doesn't have much to it besides the one map screen, it was nice having the feeling of being in different areas of the world in A2, one of the few gameplay improvements outside of added classes/weapons I thought was good from A2.

Worst timeline.

I get where you're coming from but minmaxing just sounds more gamey while optimisation sounds too clinical and scientific

I like how A2 tried its best to nerf some of the most easily broken bits from A but then introduced the auctions anyway.

They should just make XVI a tactics based game.

I like Tactics more when it's easily broken, I like having godlike power and having battles over quick.

I started playing this yesterday, does the place you put stuff in the map change something significant?

yes, there's a pattern of placing towns surrounded by mountains, rivers with deserts that unlock hidden items.

or something like that, it's been a while.

yeah, here's a list of the big stuff you get and how to get it.
