Prodigious size alone does not dissuade the Darkest Dungeon thread
I like to think PD is older than MaA by the time the game takes place. Dunno why but I've always gotten that vibe. So it's kinda funny that everyone else sees her as this cute sexy little minx.
I mean the comics seem to be fairly close to the present time each time, it's not like GR deems to have aged, or the MaA, or even Shaggy. Hence why when a student is shown, people expected z rather young person.
We already know what she looks like though
Better quality.
Which is my point. She's shown as a student, and all comics are rather recent, hence why she can't be old.
That's stupid.
That may be true, but then again she wouldn't be the only one to have her comic take place a while before the game. Not that I'm arguing in favor of it, it's just the impression I have.
The idea of it really pisses people off.
Why does PD's comic look so rough compared to many of the others?
Either it's an artistic choice to make it look more like sketches and the notes she takes, or it was the very first to be drawn.
>wanna fight the Apprentice Fanatic, the only version Im missing
>barracks is full of lvl 6 heroes
I dont wanna kick people for a bunch of new guys
Thank God for the modding guide Red Hook put up. When I tried editing the sprites, it came out slightly jumbled ingame, but apparently photoshop doesn't save .png files properly or something and I had to download a thing.
Pretty nice. You used the Survivalist mod right? Do you have any experience in modding or can some random fuck without any knowledge like me do it?
Yeah, I'm planning on making a palette set out of the Survivalist skin. I have basic knowledge of photoshop. Messing with skins is the easiest thing, if you're not making new art, literally just edit the images and save them properly. A lot of the surface level stuff is extremely simple to tweak, but creating brand new stuff is harder.
does the switch version come with all the DLC or what
Sound, I'll see what I can do, I'll learn stuff on the go I suppose.
Yes
Tiddy monsters not welcome in my estate.
Begone.
Download a no level restrictions mod for just that quest and disable it afterwards or do the same with a expanded barracks mod
Any other people having this problem of skins going all kinds of fucked whenever combat starts?
Skeleton Helm Crusader and Brigand Highwayman become a mess of pixels every time.
What Crimson Court trinkets are worth doing a Courtyard expedition for?
Can someone give me a quick rundown on the Shieldbreaker? How usefull is it?

anybody buy the switch version? hows it control?
Both MaA and HM's set trinkets, Dazzling Mirror, and Mercurial Salve.
Should I lock in Warrior of Light on Reynauld while I treat his Kleptomania?
How important is strategy in this game? Can you nullify bad rng with good decisions?
Ok guys I'm sort of new and i have read 0 things about the game, why is my inventory full of supplies constantly?
It's clearly the former, the panels are even labeled 'fig. 1,' 'fig. 2,' etc.
>How important is strategy in this game?
Paramount.
>Can you nullify bad rng with good decisions?
Nullify? No. Certain things are sadly completely RNG, such as hunger, but even then you can just pack more food than you need, as a safety net. You can largely play around the RNG.
Like cardboard covered in soy.
Where can I find the rest of these comics?
Because a decent part of the game is based around inventory management. For a successful mission, especially one where you get a lot of TRINKETS AND BAUBLES, you need a bunch of different supplies for different situations. And eventually you reach a point where you've got more things than you can carry, and juggling what you need and what you don't is super important.
nah maybe something like unholy hater/hunter.
10% damage vs. Everything > 15% damage vs. the least common enemy type
literally google
This post is 100% correct. If you just want a ruins specialist, you can get another Crusader for that. Especially if Reynauld already has Warrior of Light.
did something happen?
we shouldn't have threads for old games from 2016 guys!
There are few strategic decisions. The bulk of the game is in its tactics, but that's not daunting either.
Yes, theoretically you can salvage most situations if you prepared accordingly but that requires experience. New players will most likely not be equipped correctly to stop escalating disaster and that can make things seem unfair.
I defeated the Brigand Incursion on the first try but I lost all 4 of my level 6 goys. Can I even call this a victory? sad times.
did they kill her family cuz theyre black
>do first DD quest
>browse my hero gallery
>one of my heroes has the face of one of the flesh demons
>right click them and they're back to normal
Game is trying to REMIND me even when I'm not playing
Might have something to do with it, might not. They brought a lot of people just for that, though. He probably fucked up big time, and his being black in a vaguely European setting just made it worse. It's cool that his daughter grew up to be a wandering mercenary. Well traveled too, based on her heal quote at camp.
Her character's flashback comic seems "older" than the others because of how it's colored at least for me.
>How important is strategy in this game?
Of utmost importance
> Can you nullify bad rng with good decisions?
Nulify? No.
Control, manage and possibly salvage? Yes.
why are my crusaders getting scared of the light?
>started playing 2 days ago
>still getting used to the game
>throw random parties together just to try out heroes
>try weird strats and actively say "fuck it" half the time just to see what happens
>they all survive and get clutch dodges/crits
>finally decide to put together a serious party and actually try
>get three rooms in
>collector
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
A little quality time with Nurse Ratchet will clear that shit right up. To the sanitarium they go.
Collector is a pushover my dude. A good party should take him down in 2 rounds assuming your stuns hit.
Stack speed. Always stack speed
Dazed
It's all head canon until shown otherwise. If you like to imagine old hags, then fine for you.

Noob here, I heard Leper and Flag are bad I’m enjoying the latter, am I being memed? Which classes are straight up terrible?
flag is the farthest from bad, in fact he's the most OP hero in the game.
Leper is a bit of a meme, but not absolute trash
Post your 5 Favorite Trinkets
1. Ancestor's Map
2. Prophet's Eye
3. Ancestor's Pen/Musket Ball
4. Fuseman's Matchstick
5. Ancestor's Candle
Good to hear, he’s definitely pulled my party’s ass out of the fire on multiple occasions and I was afraid he’d get outclassed later in the game.
What Nexus/Workshop classes are worth checking out? I want to freshen up the game with some new(to me)content?
What are some of the $10 words that you have learned from DD? Personally, I learned tenebrous.
Leper, jester, abomination.

Is it abuse to well... abuse the crusader's -stress skill?
not at all, if you have the opportunity to spam that shit, do so.
Just don't take too long in a fight or else shit might get worse
Killing enemies with grave robber's throwing knives is satisfying as hell.
The weak should fear the strong.
I like to use the pig jousters as a way to stall and heal stress/hp since half the time he wastes turns and the backhand isn't extremely bad

Lovely
I think I'm too retarded to play this game. I started about an hour ago but now I feel every mission is a suicide mission. Do you have any beginner advice? Should I just restart on Radiant?
bring as much food you can muster
bring 3 keys
holy water + herbs for ruins
bandages + herbs + 1 extra torch for warrens (for the scrolls)
antidote + extra shovels for weald
herbs + bandages for cove
How many torches should I always bring? Also, should I just stick with the default party at first?
I usually bring 4 in short missions
bump that shit to 8 in medium and bump it further to 16 in long missions (if I want to use light that is)
always shuffle the party and carefully look at abilities and their positioning to see what works
in the early game you want to send dickheads away when their stress is too high, this becomes less of a problem the further you go on in the game though when dosh is not an issue.
don't read the book curios, focus the enemy back line, bring a healer, and figure out which items go into the curios
yeah don't read books unless you feel lucky or can heal stress/ heal quirks
What a nice square map
What exactly are curios? And what do you mean by shuffle?
btw bosses are always the furthest cells from the entrance, so make a bee-line towards them and camp just before entering them for maximum benefits. Hope you leveled Hound's Harry
I just got the game and am about to play it for the first time
Should I play on Darkest or Stygian?
Curios are the items that you interact with inbetween combat. Most curios allow you to put a consumable item in them and guarantee a positive result (e.g. you put herbs in the coral in cove and you get a free negative quirk purged)
Shuffling is just moving your party members around - it's good to figure out the positions that are best for each class
Darkest for a first run
Stygian if you have balls
Darkest it is then
Thanks

whats the best way to unJUST my party right now
