But HEY! That's JUST A THEORY!
you're acquiring a product without paying for it, how is it not stealing?
>image
Typical britcuck shit, no surprise
>post
Then you're deluded, cool.
Is the UK a police state?
Piracy is not theft
It's a different crime
For the same reason that borrowing a game from a friend isn't stealing. I acquired a product without paying for it, surely I'm a thief, right? Wrong.
We have distinct laws to define exactly what the crime is, and I'm not saying piracy isn't illegal, I'm saying it's legally distinct from theft.
Making a copy of something without the copyright owner's permission is called copyright infringement. You probably have any number of saved images from this board on your harddrive, the majority of which are not public domain and were actually created by someone. There is zero difference between those unlawful image copies you have and an unlawful game copy. It's just easier to identify who owns the rights to the game.
what if I have a magic gun that can replicate your car, is that stealing?
Fucking tories love these initiatives that sound good on paper but just waste money and don't achieve shit.
>For the same reason that borrowing a game from a friend isn't stealing. I acquired a product without paying for it, surely I'm a thief, right? Wrong.
If you borrowed the game from a friend without their consent its stealing as it is in the case of piracy.
you wouldnt download a nigger
You seem to have a problem with words. I said borrow implying with consent, as there's no such thing as borrowing without consent.
Please tell me you are trolling.
I can't tell anymore.
>By using fictitious characters such as Justin Beaver
?
It is stealing and they are right to teach them so. I pirate games all the time and don't need any justification for why I do it. It's free shit I don't care.
sure there is, its called stealing
Why are piratefags ao delusional?
Just admit you're stealing and moving the fuck on.
Skidrow lets everyone borrow their games bro, they're cool.
"their games"
Skidrow doesn't own those games. And if you borrow a game another one of your friends can't borrow it at the same time.
it isn't a crime as it requires someone to be wronged
what if they play split screen?
I may as well admit larceny, jay walking and manslaughter are stealing, for all the sense it would make. You can't redefine words to fit your agenda. I will reiterate that copyright infringement is very obviously illegal, but that does not make all crimes theft, unless you're a fucking idiot.
But your not getting the company consent to "borrow".
What about "theft of services", like sneaking into public transportation?
copyright infringement is impossible to control and retarded. Used for nothing other than companies to exlloit people smaller than them. other than that post is right. if I download a picture of the mona lisa, i havent fucking stolen it.
That's 'making off without payment'. An entirely different legal principle. Not theft.
Did you get the company's permission to borrow the game from your friend? No. You didn't. You played the game and they didn't get a dime from you. Under your convoluted logic, you stole the game, because you experienced it without paying. This is where the piracy = theft logic obviously breaks down. Yes, when you pirate a game, you don't have the company's permission, but the permission you're lacking is the permission to COPY it. This is why it's copyright infringement.
Theft of services is real, but usually pirate games can't access online services so it's a moot point
>Artists are no longer allowed to copyright their work
Victimless """"crimes"""" are a fucking shitty retarded concept
Assault, theft, and trespassing are the only things that should be punished
>hey kids, fucking with our profit margins is immoral!
when did God leave our side?
>Theft
Alright, so you're agreeing that it should be punished. kek.
>victimless crime
>theft
>believing copyright laws protect them in this day and age anyways
destroying (((copyright))) laws will only massivly effect the multi media megacorps. Whos death would be of no detriment to humanity.
Not him, but theft of services is stealing work in a very physical way. If I sneak onto a bus and take the last spot from a paying customer who can no longer get on, there is a quantifiable loss of profit for the service owner. The main problem with this shit is that you retards cannot get it through your heads that lost profits from piracy are completely unquantifiable. A pirated copy does in no way garuntee a loss of profit.
It is stealing lol. Just because there is an unlimited supply of something doesn't mean you don't have to pay for it.
The government should not force that down your throats though.
show me a piece of genuinly groundbreaking art that has been effectively protected by copyright laws and Ill give free virtual headpats.
Piracy isn't theft though
Theft is taking something away from someone else
Piracy is making a copy
If you had a universal copier that could copy food and shit, I don't think anyone would try to punish you for using it.
>Deprive creator of right to market his creation as he wishes
>Victimless crime
>
>For the same reason that borrowing a game from a friend isn't stealing. I acquired a product without paying for it, surely I'm a thief, right? Wrong.
The difference is when you borrow a game your friend loses the game and the rights with it go to the next person
surely the laws of economics would dictate that something of infinite abundance holds no value at all?
If someone's selling rice and they have 4 billion pounds and I take a single grain without paying for it, it's theft
Making a copy of an artwork is not theft. It's copyright infringement. Interestingly, the artist could be giving away copies for free and it would STILL BE COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT if I make a copy without his permission.
There's a logical disconnect here and I really can't tell if people are trolling or just downright stupid
Are you kidding nigger? You'd get murdered within days if you had that kind of technology since it makes almost everything valueless.
>Food analogy
The difference is when I borrow the game from my friend, I'm not creating an illegal copy. That's the only difference. And that's why creating an illegal copy is what law is being violated. It's not illegal to create the copy because it's theft, it's illegal because it's copyright infringement
*pick up that can
>its not theft, its this word which basically means theft
Lol
Ok, Im stealing, but Im from México, so fuck it, nobody is going to do anything to me.
> Fraud is a-okay
t. closet corporatist
Theft: Physically removing an item from its owner, without its owner's consent, with the intent to keep the item.
look up the difference between marginal cost and fixed cost.
Now put it, in, the trash can.
>guiz look at my old arachic definition before the time of technology lol
Delusional piratefag
but if the resource is infinitly abundant then the price of the product would be infinitesmal regardless of the companies costs.
and infinite supply decrees zero value. i can download and infinite amount of these games. therefore they hold no value.
>changing the definition of a word to fit your agenda
Dirty Jew.
>definitions of words and vocabulary don't change over time
Caveman detected
>idiots still too stupid to understand that over time things change.
Piracy is it's own thing. It's that fucking simple. It's a crime sure but it's not stealing, it's not theft, it's piracy.
look up the definition of the words cost, price and value
Jesus pirated bread and fish like crazy.
St. Columba stirred up a war because some guy in a fancy suit said he couldn't copy somebody else's work.
The linguistic definition is irrelevant. The legal definition is what matters, and it hasn't changed.
>implying that the natural evolution of language is decided by corporations that are only interested in protecting their personal profits
Massive nose detected.
>Piracy isn't theft fallacy
Kek
Im failing to see your point. heres a (you)
Reminder that "piracy", previously a word used to describe armed, violent robbery and murder at sea, becoming a term for what is simple copyright infringement was a result of an aggressive propaganda campaign by the entertainment media industry. By simply using the term, they already made you a sucker, arguing in their term to portray a crime much more sinister than it is.
And no, it's not stealing. It's copyright infringement.
>it's basically theft
Ok, now we're getting somewhere. In your mind, it probably goes something like this: they're not getting money so it's stealing.
And it's a pretty solid argument. But, the problem is that there are other scenarios where the same thing happens.
1) I borrow the game from my friend, play it, and return it to him. I experience the game and the developer gets no money.
2) I buy the game at a used games store, play it, and sell it again. I and many other people experience the game and the developer gets no money.
3) I rent the game from a game rental place, play it, and return it. I and many other people experience the game and the developer gets no money.
4) I watch the game being played by someone else online. I and many other people experience the game and the developer gets no money.
There is no publisher more guilty than Nintendo of trying to make every single one of these illegal at some point in the last 40 years, and they've failed every time because of this legal distinction. Simply not paying someone IS NOT A CRIME. You and I decide on a regular basis not to buy things at almost every moment of every day. We're not stealing from Kellog's because we walked by a box of Frosted Flakes today without buying it.
Likewise, exercising my rights as a consumer isn't and shouldn't be illegal either, such as reselling something I've bought, or borrowing something that's protected by the first-sale doctrine. It's important that these distinctions exist because otherwise these multi-billion dollar corporations who you mistakenly believe to be your friends would walk all over you.
So when you download a game from the internet, it's important to be clear about what law you're breaking. It has nothing to do with who did or didn't get money from you. It has to do with the fact that you made a copy without permission, which is called copyright infringement
>calls other jews
>when he is too cheap to purchase products so does mental gymnastics to justify taking it without payment
Typical kike
>piracy is stealing
But it is. And no matter how many mental gymnastics you do, it doesn't change this.
You're receiving a service or good, without paying for it. And yes, whether or not you were going to buy it anyway is irrelevant.
>but muh digital isn't real, it's just a "copy"
Doesn't matter at all. "Service or good." Someone put in time and effort on creating the "digital" good you aquired without receiving compensation.
No, it doesn't matter that Neil Gaiman loves piracy either; he's free to let his writings go for free if he feels like it helps his standing in the community.
Last, to the real piratefags who do it without giving two shits about justifying it, youtu.be
Exactly.
You caught me. I'm 1/4 Polish.
>trump's divided slaves of amerikkka
>free
>every time you breathe you acquire oxygen without paying for it
Stop inhaling commie.
every single six year old: "holy shit i can download things for free?"
What you chucklefucks are ignoring is this is teaching 7-Year olds. Try explaining to a 7 year old the legal definition difference between stealing and copyright infringement. Guess what? They're 7. They won't fucking understand.
>Hey kids, I'm Justin Beaver, when you download something off the internet for free, it isn't stealing, stealing is when you take something that isn't yours without paying for it... but that doesn't apply here because you're copying the product, which is totally different you see, so you're copying a product that isn't yours and taking it without paying.. this is copyright infringement, a completely different crime! Glad you understand kids!
No. You say 'It's stealing'. Kids understand what 'Stealing' means because they're taught it by their parents. Teaching kids fucking legal technicalities is fucking stupid. You tell the kids not to do it because it's stealing... as it's easier for them to understand. If they don't do it, that's a good thing. If they don't do it cause you tell them it's stealing is the same as them not doing it because you tell them it's copyright infringement.
What is hard about this, Sup Forums? I'm not going to argue about the shit that people are already doing. I'm explaining to you that teaching SEVEN YEAR OLDS requires EASE OF UNDERSTANDING and 'STEALING' is easier than 'COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT'. Also, OP specifically cut off the rest of the fucking article and didn't link it or archive it.
So if I download a picture of the mona lisa am I stealing from da vinci? Im sure he put lots of time effort into making it I feel like such a dirty pirate.
>I don't want to contribute the labour necessary to making products but I do want the products it makes
>What I committed was not technically a murder, murder is the unlawful killing of someone and I bashed his head in with a baseball bat in international waters and I made no law against killing on our boat, so it was not unlawful and thus not murder.
You can call it whatever you want, it doesn't make it any less of a crime.
I wish my Walmart had a food court. There's a McDonald's there, but McDonald's sucks.. Besides, there's a McDonald's in the same parking lot, so it's quite redundant.
meant for
Nah it's fine because the copyright expired.
See, if someone exists long enough, it's okay to steal it.

Cry all you want but shit like this is why only Corbyn can save the UK now. Conservative gobshites be damned.
burger here, the fucks all that mean?
>You're receiving a service or good
Observing a work of art is neither
Corbyn is a champagne socialist and will fuck the UK up so bad it'll never recover. I'm deadly serious. This is a guy who's fought 5 schisms in his party since coming to power. He got into power because Milliband changed the voting process to allow any registered Labour voter to do it. So as long as you had £50 and registered, you could vote for whomever. So Corbyn won. Because he was the worst choice. This caused several resignations at that point and he's been fighting his party every since. You have no idea how badly he is disliked. May only won because Corbyn is just that unelectable and May fucked up everything. Corbyn had the BBC on his side and all of the major newspapers (read, proper broadsheets). Corbyn still lost. He can say whatever he wants cause he'll never deliver anything. May is shit but she was dealt a shit hand.
Basically it was about a vote about how much shekels we have to give to the EU to leave. So we had a vote to decide how much voting power the MP's would have at a later date on voting on the final deal. As in, EU goes 'Give us £1000BN or no deal', the MP's would be able to go vote on whether to accept that or not. The vote she lost was on how much say the MP's would get on the matter. tl;dr nothing major, it's clickbait in newspaper form.
pirates are the scum of the earth, I hope all those kiddies go to jail

cure for piratefaggotry: only play genuinely free games for a year.
>So Corbyn won. Because he was the worst choice. This caused several resignations at that point and he's been fighting his party every since. You have no idea how badly he is disliked. Holy shit imagine being this much of a blatant liar. Corbyn went up for reelection and won by a fucking landslide you dishonest twat. The BBC was actively shilling for May leading up to the election and continues to do so now. May literally lost what was supposed to be an easy majority on a historic level even with the MSM at her side. And now she's bungled brexit and the Carillion affair so badly it's doubtful the tories will even be next opposition party when they lose.
To add to this.>tl;dr nothing major
She sacked her vice chairman for voting wipe and can't form a stable cabinet to save her life, that's huge. Why are you trying to manipulate the truth.
>mental gymnastics
DaVinci painte them to be observed. See the part about Gaiman.
Plus this.
>more gymnastics
If the artist chooses to share, that's their prerogative.
he Less copyright laws the better it will be for the vast majority.
It'll weed out the passionate from the corporate money grubs.
Truth & Reality is Subjective
how stupid are they, kids are the ones that pirate the most cause they dont have money, they are literaly telling little kids who didnt know they could get free shit online that they can easily download shit on the internet
>tfw downloading a game is the same as pillaging ships on the high seas
i want this agenda pushing to end
So never.
Do your duty and seed gentlemen, don't let your corporate overlords win.
>ITT retarded teenagers still don't know the difference between theft and copyright infringement
>tfw i've torrented (illegally) 4.125 million copies of fallout 4
>tfw the garbage known as bethesda is still in business
>tfw no news articles from them, anywhere, mentioning how they've lost record sales
wtf, i thought torrenting hurt companies??!
I send my kids to school to learn academic skills, the school has no right to try and enforce what they believe good morals to be.
>tfw sold pirated games and music at the school
>tfw teachers were my biggest customer
Actually, that's not how maritime law works.
People have been not just sailing the oceans but conducting incredibly important political and economic activity on them for at least 500 years.
"It's my boat so there's no law" isn't a thing.
they have enough people brainwashed into thinking they make good games that they'll always have a comfy profit.
