The pain has dulled and the wounds have healed, but the scar ever remains on the travesty that was ME3's ending. I remember crying on the couch after I completed the game. For the next few days, the colors were a little more dull and food was a little more bland. I was truly depressed out of my mind over the conclusion of my favorite franchise.

Devs were so cheap instead of paying an artist to draw a concept of what tali looked like under the mask thereby creating original content, they instead took a model photo (without asking) and edited it hoping no one would notice. Forgivable if it was a small independent developer, but come on man Bioware is a huge company with millions of dollars.

I replayed ME2 recently and realized it's an oddly paced, boring game with writing so poor it's downright annoying at times.
You only liked it because you badly wanted it to be great. Let go of that and you'll realize nothing of value was lost.

ME2 is the only game of the three I never came back to, I guess because of its pointlessness and obscene amount of dlc

I'm not, specially after the shitfest that was andromeda. ME3 had a lot of flaws, but overall the trilogy is excellent and, to this day, the only rpg series where the choices from previous games had an influence in later games, even if minimal.

You can see how completely unrealistic people's expectations were when they thought the choices you made in previous games would affect the ending of 3, take the witcher trilogy for example, though Sup Forums seems to love it, the choices you made in those games also meant fuck all in the next games, but people still love it.

And then you have deus ex where every sequel they shit on all your choices and turns out none of the endings are canon, they just mix all of them.

ME3 gets more hate than it deserves.

First two games are top tier imo. Very different from each other tho. You will want to go on to ME3 when you finish ME2, so just do it.
I will warn you tho, lower your expectations immensely and get all the dlc and you may enjoy some of the third game.

What and it would really change your perception of the game if they had done that? They picked a cheap way of doing something for a single picture only a small percentage of players would even see. Seems like a really pathetic thing to complain about compared to actual fuck ups like the Rachni or the ending.

oh don't get me wrong, not counting some gameplay improvements (like the weapon modifications, the fact that you're not out of ammo for half of every level or the enemy variety), ME3 imo is still vastly inferior. the game is packed so full with these cheap, supposedly emotional dramatic moments i suspected it was written by pregnant women for pregnant women.

It's the ending that kills it for me. Spend the entire game prepping for some apparent suicide mission. Go there, mission is resolved in 30 minutes. Blow up the aliens and the reaper guy goes "Curse you Shepherd, I'll get you next time!"

After that I couldn't remotely feel like any stakes remained for me3

I'm not even mad about it anymore, I'm just saddened every time I think about it and what the series could have been. It feels like when you think about your buddies from years ago and then remember that one of them suffered from severe depression and blew his brains out.

Mass Effect leaves me with a dull disappointment now. It was a sign of what was to come with Bioware, EA, and the industry as a whole to some degree, but good games have been released since then, and I've honestly forgotten about most of 3 besides the ending and Tuchanka because it has the most forgettable characters and locations out of all three games.

Now Spore still hurts. Spore was the game I dreamed of as a child and comparing what it could have been to the butchered final state was awful. There will be more RPGs and space operas, but no one is lining up to make a Spore style game.

Biotics are a lot of fun in 2, would definitely recommend you play one in it.

Oh please, you wouldn't even know about it if you didn't come to threads like this one. It accomplished it's purpose in the game just fine. Its a cheap image that is only on the screen for a few seconds only for people who picked one specific character to romance.

It didn't quite work since Andromeda was funny bad while ME3 was just plain awful bad.

I've compiled a list of how many unique save files I have for each respective game.

ME: 7 Saves
ME2: 3 Saves
ME1: 1 Save

When I found out none of my choices that I waited 7 years to accumulate to something meant NOTHING it physically broke me. I have since ME3 not been able to be excited for anything, no movies, no games nothing. Nothing, NOTHING makes me excited. If a fucking all star dev team got unlimited funding to work on a dream project I would just naturally assume it would be disappointing. ME3 was so bad it has had a tangible negative impact which I will carry with me until the day I die. Fuck you Bioware,sincerely.

At the end of 3 I decided not to choose any of the choices because my Shepard would never bend the knee to some bitch ass kid. Should've been a good ending.

Bought ME1 years ago from steam sale, didn't like it at first, but I gave it a second try and it was really fucking good. I even liked the planet side missions where you drive around with your little space car. Sure it was clunky and awkward, but I really did like the idea of driving around in desolate alien planet even though the locations were copy pasted and there were rarely any difference between the planets except maybe the colors. I also liked the superpowers or whatever they were called which made it possible for shepard to do all kinds of cool jedi shit. ME1 reminded me of The Witcher in many ways, kinda rough on the edges, but with heart of gold.

I then bought ME2. I didn't think it was as good as the first one, but it was still really fucking good. I enjoyed soft lighting, really meaty sound effects, and even though the gameplay was somewhat simplified I enjoyed the improved and more accurate controls. I can't remember what it was exactly that was different with gameplay, but I remember you being able to use the shepherd magic powers more freely in ME1, and in ME2 they were kinda on this auto-aim type of system.
Still a great game, and I loved how you could continue the story with all your past choices still haunting you to the next game.

It's not as bad of a game if you go into it expecting it to be severely flawed. A lot of the people, myself included, who are in this thread genuinely fell for the hype on release and are angry about that.
Personally, I can play ME3 and enjoy it for what it is, but your mileage may vary.

ME3 is ME2 with some music from ME1. The ending and writing will likely piss you off, combat is pretty good but no free use of biotics like you said

I didn't follow it too closely. I remember there was a shitstorm because the cover had femshep on it, and then another because people voted for blonde femshep and they made her redheaded anyway

There was the initial shitstorm where there was no Femshep cover then Bioware said they'd do it but they needed an official face - Manshep has the face of a God and Femshep had a random facegen one. So they came up with this swampbeast.
Look at it, what a fucking train wreck of a face. They tried to do so much and phoned it in so bad...didn't even scanned a person, just got an intern to put something together. This was retarded and unnecessary.

I think it's funny that a majority of the fanart for femshep still uses this horrific face.
