Thoughts on Skyrim?
Thoughts on Skyrim?
Boring as fuck, when are they gonna make a tes for brainlets like me who don't want to listen to npc's for 5 minutes every time I enter a village or building?
morrowind is better
They should streamline it a lot more.
Get rid of all the walking and make dungeons closer together.
Most of the meta game is bullshit
Dungeon crawling is fun, but picking up tons of shit or not being able to pick up shit, and then going back and selling it is not fun. Talking to NPCs for 20 minutes is not fun.
And it needs to be more colorful and have more monsters and less wolves
The McDonald's of video games
a good source of imagination fuel
porn mods are pretty good
Love playing it when I'm sick while laying in bed and falling asleep after half an hour.
also this
A truly marvelous game, everyone should buy it, it's Bethesda's Magnum Opus, both Special Edition and VR
It's actually a 6/10 game made for casuals who just want to run around in a free world and be a viking. it's an ambitious concept, but it's so lacking for someone who wants more in depth rpg mechanics and more challenge.
It belongs to the nords.
the fact that it has retained so many players for so many years completely BTFOs autists who hate it
Had my fill of "the Bethesda game" by Oblivion
Not the best, but comfy enough for an escape.
>RP an orc trapper
>Just going around, hunting shit and going into the towns only to sell or stock up.
Autistic, maybe, but keeps me sane
>popular=good
explain how.
It's streamlined for audiences that wouldn't necessarily consider playing an action-rpg otherwise
This.
The main thing that keeps it from being a really good game is the combat isnt really that fun, which sucks since its basically just about combat.
>bethesda's magnum opus
bitch even todd would say that's morrowind
>took away underwater fighting
>has enemies
>underwater
why did they do it lads
It just didn't workâ˘
Todd has said that his favourite is Arena because its the one he hasn't worked on. The remarkable thing about that statement is that he made it like a week or two after Skyrims release, so instead of shilling the latest game he gave an honest answer
Terrible RPG.
Great in a garry'smod sandbox kind of way where they give you one big map to fuck with.
I feel like Todd wanted to make it a great RPG, but he struggled to even get Morrowind's basics in, like magic. Judging from the lack of updates, I imagine the publisher side of Bethesda refuses to let them work on it past a set amount of time to save cash.
old like me
good thing you're not a game designer.
I am surprised with how little DLC Skyrim got, literally just 3. They could have easily milked it with a few more. But Zenimax is cancer, they cancelled the whole TESA idea because Redguard sold poorly, which is a shame because the other two were meant to be Eye of Argonia and Paradise Sugar (the latter was supposed to be Bethesdas attempt to make a JRPG)
I love doing these things too, you are not alone in this, with mods like hunterborn, frostfall, alternative start you can just pick some autistic role and stick to it
Wanna elaborate? If you think I got something wrong, I'm curious to hear your speculation.
popular after 6 years = good, yes
Mods have kept it on life support. Bethesda should be grateful for the fans who kept it alive
it's boring and shallow as fuck
>exploration
totally useless since you're not going to find anything cool that's not rng loot that's scaled to your level
>character building
garbage since you can be whatever you want and don't need to worry about skills or anything. All perks are "you do 20% more damage with this weapon" that's the most laziest shit ever
>writing
they completely shat all over the established lore and the parts that are good (books) were there since Morrowind. All characters are unmemorable and boring.
>quests
radiant fetch quests where you need to retrieve some shitty item from a draugr tomb consists of 90% quests in Skyrim
>combat
shitty button smashing that takes no skill whatsoever
Skyrim is only good as a walking simulator to walk around in, that's it
>Fell for the immersion meme
>spent several hours installing muh immersion mods like frostfall and hunterborn
>create a brutal nord hunter/outcast/scavenger
>play for 2 hours
>shit is boring as fuck sleeping/eating adds nothing to the actual gameplay and skinning beasts quickly becomes repetitive.
>uninstall
Dunno, guess i'm not autistic enough.
This confused me so much. Also think being able to easily fast travel/access mounts ruins a game this small.
>nearly 30 thousand average Steam players for Vanilla and Legendary edition over the last week
>probably way more non-steam
>for a single player game
>life support
sounds boring as fuck desu
It was fun six years ago.
Anyone tried a run where they dont level speech at all? Ive been considering doing that once SE has a decent mod base.
Whenever people use the word immersion when describing an open world survival crafting game, they're wrong. Survival mechanics are the exact opposite of immersion. Only autists who love repeating tasks can zone out doing it.
I can only see survival being immersive in 5 years if you buy that temperature-controlled haptic feedback VR suit.
still playing all these years later. it goes a little slow on replays, but ultimately a fun and huuuge game. I don't even want to know how many hours I've put into this game
Only good for degenerate mods.
well there's no fun arguing with you
And a huge majority of those play modded. You didn't prove me wrong, you know.
>they completely shat all over the established lore
this is how I know that you don't know anything about lore, Skyrim is very truthful to lore, almost everything in it is from PGE1 that was released in 1998
>And a huge majority of those play modded.
You would be fucking surprised how many retarded plebs there are out there
>And a huge majority of those play modded
source on that?
to add to this there is one big retcon in Skyrim and thats the Volikhair vampires, everything else is very truthful. Its just that Morrowbabies have only read Children of the Sky which describes 1st era nords (and by the way most of which is also present in the game) and haven't read Pocket Guide to Empire that was released with Redguard and covered Nord lore as well, and btw the Nord section in it was written by MK
Nah, can't be bothered for that survival stuff.
Alternatively I just place a bunch of Stormcloak and Imperial soldiers in interesting places and watch them kill each other
i'd say 95% of morrowind quests are stupid fetch quests with 5% being the main quest which is the only one with some non copy paste writing. The only difference is that they aren't randomised.
Agree with everything else though.
Even if you have a shit prebuilt PC, most people still try to download mods they think are cool.
Source on these huge numbers of people playing unmodded? No? Shut the fuck up.
>level speech
why would someone purposely do that? It levels automatically when you sell/buy shit. I did a run with XP mod and vanilla levelling disabled so my speech was forever at 15 - no difference at all.
What about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition? Should I get this too?
Well the aim is to avoid selling and buying as much as possible since thats the main way to level speech.
no, how come you didn't get it for free anyway? it will ultimately be better than original, but at the moment original is better
you claimed the huge majority played modded. I'm waiting on a source
Its okay as an occasional play, Needs a good bunch of mods to be fun tho
I have fun with SkyRe Conjurer so i cant complain much.
Skyrim unofficial patch(which is recommended by every mod and said to be required for many) only has 6,492,886 downloads.
Skyrim has definitely sold more than 6.5 million copies, which shows how bad the numbers really are when you consider all the repeated downloads.
I'm waiting for your unmodded player count source too. Guess we will be here a while.
Skyrim Unofficial Patch is an advised mod, but that doesn't mean everybody has downloaded it. That's a bad metric to judge this sort of thing. I doubt most people would even get the game on PC if they didn't want to play with mods, hell, they added mods to Xbox One and Playstation 4 with Remastered, that should prove to you how popular they are.
You're retarded
I would have quit this game a while ago if I didn't enjoy the setting
and didn't enjoy being an amoral edgy Mer spellsword with zero consequences so much.
I can always instantly feel the difference between Bethesda's levels and modded levels, and that's really sad.
A bald assertion isn't an argument. I've already refuted your representation based arguments. Give me something else.
I can respect Todd for that, and I can understand why he would say that. As a creator, it's hard to appreciate your own work.
mediocre, at best.
Great open world and atmosphere, actual gameplay and story is mediocre.
Needs mods to be called a good game
boring, overrated
best sex mods
>Too poor to buy legendary edition on steam.
Is there a mod to have your follower take items back to towns, sell them and then return to you?
There's a mod where your follower will rape you unless you share your loot with them.
It lets me have sappies
Not sexy enough without mods
