Funny thing, though. Original creator of World of Darkness started it as a way of dealing with coming out of the closet.

i usually play it around halloween, it's very atmospheric and the dialogue and story stuff are interesting but the actual gameplay is pretty clunky especially later in the game. it falls apart pretty badly near the end which is a real shame, one of those undercooked kinda games that got shunted real bad

One of the best RPGs ever made and an interesting portrayal of vampires. This is coming from someone who doesn't enjoy the vampire theme usually - because most of the time it's awfully represented. This is one of the few where it's not.

i would compare it to the original deus ex. a bunch of hubs that you find quests and travel between. i guess the answer is somewhat?

I'm watching some gameplay videos of this and I'm noticing that some clips are in first-person while most are in third-person.

How much control do you have over this? Can you switch back and forth when you want to, or are you forced to play each section from a set perspective?

you can switch to first or third person anytime in or out of combat, though melee is restricted to third person while ranged is for first person only

Don't use plus your first time, some of it is okay but a lot is mediocre. I don't even like basic because it still makes unnecessary and out of place changes. True Patch isn't perfect but it's the best choice for your first time or closest to vanilla.
