OP, you need to sleep in every spot out there, it will mark the territories. However there might be story related shit that prevents you from completing it, check some walkthrough.

Was repede the only one that gets recovery? I was using him until someone else got it but they never did.

That side quest is really weird
Even if you get everywhere, there are some parts of the map that you haven't gotten like beaches and other little areas that are covered by the other nearby area's blue glow
Go into your world map and look at all the fields of it, go through and make sure you camp at every location

I havn't played symphonia in a long time but I might end up picking Raine over Sheena if I do, my tastes as a kid were so basic.

There are really good moments in almost every Tales of game. However not many are really going further like Ludger's evil side in Xillia 2.

I fucking love these games, man. Accidentally skipped a chunk of Symphonia when I played it again on the PS3 and I love that you can actually do that.
Wasn't so happy that I had to grind a bunch of levels to fight that fucking bird though.
Gonna have to hook up the old consoles sometime soon and play through them again. Or maybe actually finish Tales of Hearts R.

I got introduced via Symphonia on the gamecube.

Destiny on PS1, then Tales fell off my radar until Symphonia. I was hooked by Symphonia and played the rest of the series as I could acquire them.

I dunno, I ended up liking all of the characters a lot.

Estelle was fine, and I do have no idea why people don't like her that much. She was Princess that never left the castle she lived in, so going on a journey was something new to her. It's still bothers me who was rulling over her city/country when she wasn't around.

Friend borrowed Tales of Symphonia on GC, I had only played it for maybe 2-3 hours. First fully done Tales of game for me was Vesperia. Later on I went for Symphonia PS2, Abyss, Phantasia, etc. I still prefer style of Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia over latest.

I didnt like characters or anything else about it enough to bother finishing it.

Symphonia for me, series peak for me in Versperia but I've enjoyed every game since.

Pascal might have been my favorite character to play as across all games.

Do you like anime? Do you like real-time combat? If yes, then give it a try. Symphonia is probably the best starting point. If you have a 360, then Vesperia is a good choice, too. 2D Tales like Phantasia and Eternia are still good, too, but I would start with 3D.

You forgot to add Destiny 1 and 2, both are fantastic.

I mean, the job ludger had to do did matter to their world and they probably don't feel good leaving 1 guy to fix it, plus most of the party benefited from going with dealing with their own internal issues. I don't mind estelle wanting to go with yuri, it's her constantly wavering about it was annoying as shit when it kept happening.

I liked Zestiria alright, but it's not better than Berseria.

Zestiria better than Berseria? Arguments? I can easily say Berseria's huge flaw, was using a lot of Zestiria's assets and animations. But they had to make it after the whole Zestiria/Baba backlash.

While the story in Zestiria was worse than Berseria, I found the storytelling better in Zestiria. Berseria had a lot of bullshit backtracking and the maps in general were very boring with little happening.

The combat system was much more enjoyable in Zestiria, quickswitching between the different characters. Much more dynamic. In Berseria it was basically Velvet using the gimmicky beast claw/arm thing all the time, which got boring real quick. Also I preferred the characters in Zestiria (except the MC and his gay friend)

Bamco tries to ignore everything before Symphonia as much as possible. Sometimes you get Destiny stuff and sometimes they remake Phantasia again but that's all.

360 Vesperia. That was a bad one to start with, because the only other one I played after that was Berseria, and it all just seems downhill from Vesperia
