whaaaaaaaaaaaa

>ITT we post games we dont personally like therefore are overrated

Huwa?

If it's so overrated, how come I barely ever see people praising it, especially here?

This is by far the most overrated game I have ever played in my entire life.

brainlets

What did user happen to mean by this?

Ori is garbage. The ONLY reason it gets praised anywhere is becuase it’s console exclusive on a dead platform.
>let’s fill the game with trial and error segments
>let’s make the character so fucking small
>also, let’s have the character blend in with the background
GARBO

I must have imagined playing it in pc.

>The ONLY reason it gets praised anywhere is becuase it’s console exclusive
its literally on Steam retarded Sonyfag

This. OP is objectively wrong. Ori is a great game.

Souls series,I've completed Demon Souls and DS1 only, not bad games but are definitely overrated and have garbage community

pyschological projection. games that look that good CAN'T be bad games! they just can't be! the current state of Sup Forumsirgins

devs cant afford paid shills

I said
>console exclusive
you raving faggot.

I'm fairly sure that Microsoft can though, they're the ones in charge of the marketing

What makes it so bad? The platforming and movement mixed with the combat is pretty goood, and the artwork and atmosphere is phenomenal.

I'm sorry you have bad taste, but the game is worth every bit of 15 dollars or w/e the hell it costs now.

upload failed: wind_waker.jpg

Easily the most overrated game in history.
The problem with indieshits or games like demons souls is that its only hipsters and muh fangays who actually lauded them. These games weren't taken seriously at release and still aren't ever listed up there on best lists

But somehow Nintendo managed to bamboozle a generation by making them defensive over cartoony graphics so that they'd ignore the fact that their game is a completely empty overworld, the islands are copy/pasted to ludicrous amounts, every corner of the world has the same enemies with even less variety than BotW and thats saying something, half the dungeons are missing and replaced with retreading content, the enemy variety is low, the boss variety is low, the minibosses are nonexistent entirely, the items are MM/OOT retreads, the combat is garbage, the sailing is garbage, the fetch quests and filler are garbage, the dungeons are linear, the handholding is extreme

I'll be honest, the game wasn't as good as people hyped it up to be. It looks good, but it's a very, very easy game and the only real interesting mechanic is the bash move. The rest of the game is average platforming and shit combat with a story I don't give a shit about.

Bloodborne. The fact that faggots worship it is a testament to dumb corporate worship.
>Lets take out all reasons for customization
>Lets go back to the previous healing system even though we already designed a better one
>Lets go back to warping from the beginning even though we already designed a better system
>Lets completely negate any reason for stats to exist but still keep them anyways
>Lets just make a less complex version of Ninja Gaiden 2 combat
>Lets just use the single most overrated author this side of GRRM to base our story off of
>Lets still require you to warp back through a loading screen to level up because otherwise you would have no reason to go back to our hub because warping from the beginning

Only bad thing about Wind Waker is the fucking triforce hunt.

And it isn't, retard.

Weird, I just replayed this and loved it even more than the first time, since it was the Definitive Edition. Pretty excited for Ori 2, sad there's no news on release date yet.

Ori deserves more praise than it got you massive gaylord.

Overwatch

Don't expect it to come out until 2019 unless we get lucky

so you don't have any problem with any of those other issues?
you don't even notice when the games minibosses are all recycled enemies, the dungeons are backtracked, 4 were cut in development, the world is all uniform and identical throughout and monotonous

Can you imagine what wind waker would have been like if Nintendo actually had the years to develop it that they needed? Where you sail to the far north and the sea becomes icy, filled with glaciers and frozen enemy varieties, where to the south are swirling seas and permanent storms and volcanos, where another area might be permanently fogged over, or filled with gigantic waterfalls leading to a lower sea, or other such variety?

because that's what botw had

also sad it's windows 10 only, I really don't want to have to set up a second os boot for one game, but I might do it.

lol probably a pc fag or a xcuck

Garbage thread

>let’s make the character so fucking small
>also, let’s have the character blend in with the background
Get your eyes checked or alternatively stop playing on cucksoles, retard

I wouldn't be too worried about that, Ori sold more than a million on Steam and like 3/4 of the users are still using Windows 7. More than likely it'll only be exclusive initially and will later get released on Steam, wouldn't be the first time that Microsoft has done that.

Leave Ori alone
It's better than a majority of meme indie games

Lmao spotted the git gud faggot

Is it legal to keep a forest spirit in your house like a small dog

No, Ori is a sapient being that you can't treat like a pet

Exactly what I am talking about. How fucking braindead do you have to be to make excuses for a series devolving its design because it's sponsored by your favorite corporate fuckbuddy?

f that Oni was fun.

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean souls games are overrated.

I want a girlfriend that likes Ori

How do

Way to take my bait, retard.

so that means I can legally fuck it, right?

I mean I think it's underage so probably not?

doesn't matter, I can wait

do you know what exclusive or bait even means.

Ori is good though. It's not just artsy bullshit, it's a solid Metroidvania.
Wrong.
You forgot long runs back to bosses and bad boss fights. BB is good but I don't get the hype on Sup Forums.

The only thing good about Ori is bash. Everything else pretty much sucks.

The story is bad and cliché, the graphics not suited for platforming, the platforming itself is easy as fuck but way too unforgiving, most talents are useless and the backtracking is tedious and unrewarding.

And just because you like them, and they're good games, it doesn't mean they aren't overrated.

Literally all subjective apart from backtracking which is fine. It's typical for the genre, and with new abilities backtracking is usually quick.

FEAR 2 doesn't get standing ovations, but putting it anywhere near the first one, or above the third one is a joke.
>cluttered and crammed arena design
>airsoft-sounding guns with no recoil
>that can't hit the wide side of the barn if shot from the hip on the move
>paper enemies with no hit reactions
>pathetic health and medkit pool
>dumb, obnoxious, loud spooks

2 is worse game than 3 though.

>FEAR 2 doesn't get standing ovations

So you admit it is not overrated yet still talks about it in an overrated thread? Interesting.

>Literally all subjective
No, absolutely not, apart from maybe the platforming difficulty, but compared to other games it's super easy.

im already at 70 percent and still no fucking boss fights doesn't feel like metroidvania without boss fights .

The only thing that the 3rd has over the 2nd is it's a better modern shooter. It's a worst horror by far excluding one level

>easy as fuck but way too unforgiving
Pick one to shitpost about if you want your bait to work, retard
Ori is great. Fuck off with your bullshit

>Ori is great
Nah.

That's exactly what I've said.
It's considered decent when it's the absolute lowest point of the series by a large margin.

Great reply. It's okay to be wrong

Not him, but those two things are not inherently inversely related. For example, imagine the platforming in SMB1 never got more difficult than the first level, but if you die once, you get sent back to the first level. It'd be extremely easy, but quite punishing.

>FEAR 2 worse than F3AR
Yeh nah fark off cunt

>it’s okay to be wrong
Was that so hard? Just be honest with yourself and the rest comes easy. Good on you for admitting it’s shit.

How is Ori unforgiving if you can save at literally any point you wish, provided you have the energy to do so (which is abundant)?

To add an opposite example to this.

Super Meat Boy. Some of the later levels can be super tough, but if you die, you only lose a few seconds of progress.

It was never considered decent, I avoid playing exactly because WOM was terrible.
Even so, decent =/= overrated.

Story is endearing and relatively minimalist, so even if you don't like it it's hardly much of a burden. Bad stories are only problematic when the game starts devoting a large amount of time to it.
What do you mean the graphics aren't suited to platforming?
Why is it only bash that's good?

Oh, I've never played Ori. I was simply explaining that a game can be easy and unforgiving, or conversely, super tough and also forgiving.

>hurr durr I know you are but what am I
Just the level of dipshittery I'd expect from someone who dislikes one of the best indie games of the decade

>How is Ori unforgiving
Insta gib spikes, insta gib lasers, insta gib lava, insta gib bird.

The horror has always been the side attraction, as a shooter it's on the level of Pariah or Chaser. F3AR's coop, meanwhile, is absolute killer, and has virtually no competition within the genre to boot.
The fuck is WOM
Overrated = rated over it's value.
>It was never considered decent
Check this thread

This honestly just sounds like you're shit at the game. Have you never played a platformer with insta kills before?

Spikes/lava aren't insta gib. Get more health
Lasers? They're on a fixed, timed pattern. It should be easy to avoid
Bird? Yeah. It's the villain of the game. It SHOULD be intimidating/scary
Git gud

Video games are overrated. All good games are treated like the second cumming of Christ, consoles have avid fanboy slave people, and most discussion on video game is only around to generate (you)s and is almost never about video games.

Git gud OP you complete scrub, you're not fooling anyone

How exactly am I wrong about Ori not being overrated? I really don't see it get all that much love compared to a lot of other games, especially here. Even when the sequel was announced I only saw a few threads, none of which even came remotely close to reaching the bump limit.

Videogames as a medium is overrated.

That makes sense then.
Though I would recommend playing Ori. OP is probably the only person I've seen who actually dislikes it
Though he may be a Sonyfag who's still butt hurt that Ori beat Bloodborne for the Best Art Direction award

>Story is endearing and relatively minimalist, so even if you don't like it it's hardly much of a burden
It's trying too hard to make you feel sad and it's full of plot holes. Things happen for the story's sake and are never explained and in the end it reverts everything bad for a happy ending.
>What do you mean the graphics aren't suited to platforming?
Foreground covers and background melds with obstacles.
>Why is it only bash that's good?
Because I like the mechanic and it's one that I haven't seen before.

>it's full of plot holes. Things happen for the story's sake and are never explained and in the end it reverts everything bad for a happy ending.

You're making it sound like that you just kind of sleepwalked your way through the story. There's only one really minor plothole that I can think of from the top of my head, and the ending absolutely doesn't just undo everything bad that happened.

The story is pretty much 100% non-obtrusive if you don't like it. I personally liked it, on the level of the opening few minutes of Up, since it gets you invested super quick then immediately hits hard
>foreground covers and background melds with obstacles
The foreground never obscures your vision, except maybe slightly in Misty Woods. Even then, the foreground is used to great effect to make the world pop and give it visual depth
Obstacles almost always have the same appearance regardless of where you are in the game. Red/spikes/lava = death, and given the game's diverse color palette, they're never difficult to see
And it's kinda unfair to compare any other ability in the game to Bash, given that it's incredibly innovative and intuitive and pretty much a brand new concept for platforming.
Even then, the wall jumping and double jumping and flying and dashes are combined to great effect to make excellent platforming. It's just that Bash is the best/most fun, so the decent amount of the rest of the abilities pale in comparison

I love metroidvanias, but for some reason, Ori just never appealed to me.

What about it was unappealing?

>Red/spikes/lava = death, and given the game's diverse color palette, they're never difficult to see

Well to be fair to that guy the game does break this rule a few times, for example the spikes in the ice area don't stand out nearly as much.

I like it, but there's really bad design idea for this game.

>trial and error segments
Its was not that bad, thanks to the save state, but there's some segments where you can use it, which made it quite a pain in the ass. It was not even funny anymore, its was "oh no, I died again, because there's no way I would know a rock would fall down and kill me"

>no boss
Really, this actually pissed me off so much when I finished this game.

In the end, I felt that I just played a walking simulator. Hollow Knight, for instance, is Ori done right.

ITT: everyone young misunderstands the plot of ori

I honestly have no idea. Every time that I've looked at it though, I've thought something along the lines of "That's a pretty game that I'll never play."

I dunno, maybe because I constantly hear about how easy it is too.

Word of mouth.

dictionary.com/browse/overrated

F2 was never overrated. Saying 'it's decent' doesn't make it overrated.

it's not the best, but it's pretty as fuck, it feels great, and the more linear/puzzle focused areas are fun.
a game being overrated doesn't equal absolute shit, you know.

it plays well too, it's just not very interesting, save for a few parts. don't be a shithead, you can make your point without making angry generalizations

Sorry, either mentioned the wrong person or misread your post.
It wasn't trying too hard to make you feel sad. Ori's friend dies along with the land. It's basic character motivation. I know it personally didn't have me feeling much but again, the story was very bare bones so it didn't matter to me. If there were hours of cutscenes and it wasn't making me feel anything I'd have a problem.
>Foreground covers and background melds with obstacles
I don't recall ever once having an issue distinguishing background and actual objects and obstacles.
>Because I like that mechanic
Literally "I like it so it's good", or subjectivity. The other moves are fine, control well and serve their purpose.

Again, everything you've said has been subjective.

It definitely is very pretty
I'll grant that it's relatively easy, but even when it's easy, it's never a slog to play through. The gameplay is incredibly satisfying once you get used to it, wall jumping and bashing off projectiles and just coasting through the game like a god of death and acrobatics
Even at the times where the game slows down a bit (like the lantern-carrying sections of the Lair of the Gumon), it's a visual treat and the music is incredible, so you're never really bored
Just my two cents

Why don't you give an explanation for everyone? And don't direct it at me because nobody will read it aside from me.

I thought it was an archetypical fairy tale about love, selflessness and the cycle of life presented in a minimal manner, or did I misunderstand it?

t. young user

That link agrees with me perfectly, my dude. Decent is too high of a praise for it, putting it above 3 is too high of a praise for it.

>can't post images or new threads
>Sup Forums ends up actually talking about video games

we can still post copypasta to devolve threads

>Between 1/2 and 1/3 of the dungeons were completely cut during development
>Of the remaining dungeons, 2 were just made by recycling material you already played once, and the rest were the worst dungeons in any 3d zelda
>2/3 of the islands in the great sea were copy/paste jobs of repetitive reefs, fairy islands, triangle beam islands or featureless archipelagos
>There were only 4 creatures in the whole great sea and repeated endlessly with no difference between any environment
>Sailing was incredibly monotonous and used to pad gameplay length
>The second half of the game was just filler fetch quests to pad gameplay length
>Combat was so pathetically easy and trivialized you could do it blind folded
>The items were just copy/pasted from OOT/MM, again
>Worst bosses of 3d zeldas until TP/SS came along

I didn't like it, I got it on Xbox One in 2015 and never finished it.

Get fucking good

I always play games with the audio off, so music really doesn't mean anything to me. And honestly, the visuals of a game mean basically nothing to me as a result of playing stuff like Dwarf Fortress and The Binding of Isaac so much. I'm sure the game is good, I just don't care.
