Burnout Paradise, Released January 22, 2008

It's officially been 10 years since the last Burnout released. Why did arcade racing die?

Normies prefer meme games like PUBG and Overwatch.

I sure hope we'll get a new Burnout game
>EA
never mind.

I had a lot of fun with Paradise. It was a great game to unwind with.

I played so much of this game.

If it did come back it would just be full of microtransactions. Its better off dead

Probably because of burnout paradise, it was fucking garbage.

500 gt is the best

I've been playing Forza Horizon 3 lately, and it feels a lot like Burnout Paradise.

It's more buttoned-up to be sure, and centers a but more around a maufactured spectacle, then Burnouts brand of do-it-yourself exploding wreckage, but there's still a lot to like.

Car selection is solid and varied, if you like a particular car, it's easy to upgrade to keep it competitive, rather than being locked to a small subset of viability, plus the events can almost all be custom tailored to how you like to play, but they still keep some unique stuff in there like how they do offloading, etc.

It's not as "Arcade" as classic burnout, but it's pretty close, and it lets you play with the driving model until it feels just right for your needs. Oh, and the rewind feature helps fix those really bad geometry clipping fuckups that would totally fucking screw you at the last second in Paradise.

flatout was always better

burnout and its fake physics tends to get fucking annoying

HEY HEY

>Why did arcade racing die?
GTA

YOU YOU

Fucks sake I'm so old, I used to spend hours in this game it was so comfy to just join and kill time fucking about.

Well, we could always get a new Split/Second--
>Disney
Oh.

Who else P12 Diamond here?

Are they still stuck doing mediocre NFS games?

and the latest one has obvious takedown mechanics lifted shamelessly from burnout

that whole team is split up and the actual dev leads have a new studio that made a golf and car crash game. they're not very good.

It's no 3 (or even 2) but it's still one of the best open world racers.

Not sure how much they worked on the latest NFS game, but the Most Wanted reboot was a hell of a lot like Burnout Paradise, though not quite as vibrant or interesting.

What they seem to be spending most of their tine on these days is making the space combat for the new Battlefront games.

Was it the first?
How many others even are there?

Don't worry lads, there's always a possibility they'll release 3 as an OG bc game on the boner.

Best open world map for a racing game.
It gave you the goal, and it was up to you to figure out the victory route.

>the last burnout title they'll ever release was also the fucking worst
it's not fair

Driving games peaked in the PS2 era. It's standard practice to lock cars behind a paywall. Well I'm not paying to buy a virtual car so I'm not buying that game.

>why did shit burnout game killed arcade racers

wow

If you have to ask that. Then you have shit choices in games to begin with faggot.

>Why did Burnout die?
Easy there was no story arc with it. Which made it alot better as a racer game. But there was little to go on with story. Making it seem to not look good as a future development at all. But at least it will not be ruined. Burnout 3 was the sickest tho.

I just miss it when racing games (not arcade in this case) had regular cars that you had to start off with, and you would only get to supercars near the end-ish.

>full of microtransactions. Its better off dead
This and this alone would ruin Burnout from beyond the grave.

There's Midtown Madness.

>Well I'm not paying to buy a virtual car so I'm not buying that game.
Wish we all had this sense when buying a game. Especially a game filled to the brim with micro transactions.

Ah yeah, that's right. I really liked the first one.

The second kind of ran away from the style that made it interesting, and the third was just okay.

Only in the west did it die. Wangan Midnight and Initial D is still alive.

>Burnout Paradise
>good
And you are wondering why it's dead...

>burnout paradise
>hey player, looks like you're doing well
>here's some black chargers with the weight of solid lead to come and smash the shit out of you and highlight how awful the driving actually is in this game

It died because Burnout Paradise was easily the worst Burnout in the series with the worst goddamn soundtrack.

This game literally killed my 360 by bugging out.

HEY HEY
YOU YOU

I DON'T LIKE YOUR SOUNDTRACK

TAKE ME DOWN TO THE paradise city

I'm replaying some old games atm, I'll reinstall Burnout after finishing nfs mw. ty for the suggestion

Burnout Paradise: The Music Video

>30fps racing game
>cars lose speed if you slightly turn the wheel on very long turns
Please don't remind me of that garbage.

DJ ATOMICA HERE

I want simulatorfags to fuck off. They killed the genre.

>ram car into wall
>ricocet back onto tarmac
sure feels like burnout....

There's the Possibility of a new Blur--
>Bizare Creations
Fuck

Concept was good for slit/second. The execution was fucking horrible.

I didn't play the final release much but I remember finding a rooftop area in the demo that allowed infinite drifting. Don't know if thst got fixed in the final version. Good times.

A new Underground is just around the cor-

microtransactions for no reason.

Midnight Club might be making a comeba-
>Rockstar
SHIT

Well they are the ones who spend most money so the market eventually was shaped for them, sad but true, you would be amazed at how ridiculous the periphericals can get for simulator racers, racing wheels are just the beginning.

Arcade racers died before DLC was even the norm.

My friend's big into that shit. Despite having a kid and a small home, he still has a full racing rig setup.

>Why did arcade racing die?

You posted the very game that killed it.

Burnout Paradise didn't have micro transaction.............

Bullshit. Compared to the shit we have now. At least they gave it something more to give players more fun things to do. Than do race A okay great now do Race B.

Now with lootcrates and shit sound tracks.

It jumped on the open world meme bandwagon to get a boost in sales but which also meant losing the majority of its original fanbase and ultimately it couldn't compete with other open world racing games so it died.

Burnout did have microtransactions, BUT it also had a lot of free content.

Goddamit i was thinking of each game in that succession.
Why didn't Blur/ Split Second style games take off? I mean Mario Kart is still going strong. Is it just because of the nintendo coat?

Me. Definitely glad I went through all those challenges.

>more fun things to do

Like what? Driving around aimlessly? Looking for races that you should be able to just select from a menu? Fuck that shit. I HATE the open world. All it does is force me to waste my fucking time for no reason racing around not-racing when I could already be in the race. Not to mention that Paradise doesn't even have proper tracks, just one shitty map and destinations on it. The game is absolute shit and killed the Burnout franchise.

Paradise sucked though, and one of the things killing racing games is the open world meme.

>Burnout
>Shit

W E W L A D

The default camera was terrible
You literally could not see what was in front of the car if you went fast

probably not because of the licensed soundtrack

>having such poor reflexes

Don't need to see shit. Just roll with it.

(You) actually had a problem with the Marked Man missions? Kek.

It would have loot boxes definitely. All your progress including unlocking tracks would be tied to the boxes. You'd get like one free per day and the rest would cost $4.99 or regional equivalent. And you'd need 25000 boxes on average to unlock everything.

Worst soundtrack? Nah, that had to be 3, but it was pretty polarizing. Gotta love going 180 mph to Rusty Cage.

>Why didn't Blur/ Split Second style games take off?
Again concept was good. But after 5 races it is all the same.

Too niche of an audience.

Remember that both Blur and Split Second had sequels, but they were canned when the studios died.

OnRUSH is our last bastion of hope for the Arcade racing series.

Does anyone else remember finding out Heath Ledger died while playing this for the first time?

don't mind me just posting the best arcade racer

Burnout Paradise is getting a remaster. If people buy it we can guarantee EA will pump another out.

Okay calm down jesus calm down. There is always Burnout 1-3/Revenge if you want to take that anger out on something.

>Burnout Paradise is getting a remaster. If people buy it we can guarantee EA will pump another out.
You mean if people commit to the micro transactions they will make another failed abortion of Burnout.

I just bought revenge for the 360 and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Is there any major differences between the 360 and OG xbox versions?

Not even Diddy Kong racing got a sequel. It's just that the audience for Mario kart doesn't really want anything but Mario kart. And it's not as if they NEED anything else, Mario kart is pretty consistently good.

>10 years
Fuck my life

DKR got a sequel that was very far along in development for the Gamecube (Donkey Kong Racing) which was only canned because Rare were bought by MS. Also DKR got a remake on DS with new tracks and characters, which for a racing game is like halfway there to a sequel.

Hell no. Burnout 3 had the best soundtrack in a racing game.

I would say with Revenge vs Takedown. The major differences are race maps and AI controlled players. In Takedown it was a fucking free for all with taking down opponents. In Revenge it seems the AI will do anything to take you down first and foremost during races.

One of the worst maps in an arcade racing game

>Vaporware
Doesn't count unless you want to start counting Blur 2, Split Second 2, etc, as full releases too.
>Enhanced port of a racing game
>On a console that doesn't even have analog control
DKR got shit on just as much as every other arcade racer. Mario Kart is the last man standing, at least 8 is really good.

well i didnt like Paradise. I kinda hate the map.

They both were great but Burnout was consistently good unlike flatout.

Paradise wasn't even Arcade Racing as much as a party game with cars.
I fucking loved it.

100%-d the game and then they released an unlocks shortcut DLC....

>New challenge! All players must take the (Whatever it was called) Ramp at the same time!
>4 hours later
>Challenge Cancelled!

It left a better legacy than star wars. It ended on a good note.

>Arcade racing
>dead
>Meanwhile Initial D 6, 7 and Daytona 3 just came out on PC earlier this month
a.doko.moe/twlluk.jpg

GAAAAAAAY BOOOOONAAAAAAAAAAA

>playing burnout 2 crash mode with friend
>fuck up and just slightly ding one car
>out of nowhere huge pileup wreckage occurs
>win with top score

toppest of laffs

I remember Crash Team Race and Vigillant 8 v2 being pretty popular back in the day.
Dunno what happened

paradise was shit though. the last good game was hot pursuit 2010

i recently modded underground 2 on PC, game looks amazing at 120 fps. paradise will never compare

>paradise will never compare
To some faggot who has to mod a fucking PS2 game to make it look like a modern day game.
