I haven't been keeping up with game. What's the deal with 21? Wasn't she just a scientist-esque robot? Why is she a Majin now?

Trunks/Krillin/Frieza

They're my favorite DBZ characters, and I really like how Krillin and Frieza plays. I hope I like trunks, if not I might sub him out for Vegeta or even SSB Vegeta. I really like his rekkas and they look cooler as SSB Vegeta, and the dunk is pretty cool too.

Beerus/Kid Buu/Gotenks

I like the way Beerus and Kid Buu play from the beta. Beerus seems like he'll need some work to be more effective though but at least Kid Buu and Gotenks have great assists to back him up.

Cell because he's just good overall. Kid Buu because dumb damage and mixup potential. Frieza because I needed an anchor and I ended up liking how he played in the beta. Also because team villains.

Trunks/Yamcha/Kid Buu

Subject to change but Trunks and Yamcha look fun to play and I know Kid Buu is fun to play from the beta.

I've been considering Blue Vegeta since he can dunk people.

I usually figure out the anchor of my team, and build around them. I hope 21 would have the making of an anchor but she looked more like a first character, so for now I gave up the idea of making her the centerpiece.

There's a high chance I'll pick either anchor Frieza or anchor Gotenks, and then find the characters that benefit the most from their assists and DHCs.

I'm happy the dunk has a ground bounce, I don't think the final flash would pick em up off the ground if it put them into the ground slide state.

I haven't decided yet, but Ultimate Jobhan will almost certainly be on there as he was way too good, too easy, and too fun in the beta to not have him. 18, Gotenks, Hit, Goku SSB, and 21 are all strong contenders as well, although I worry I won't be able to focus if I play with 21 on my team.

the general idea is that your last characters will have more meter and less assist coverage, whereas your first characters will have no meter and full assist support. You usually take that into account when building your team. There's also how their supers chain together to take into account.

You want a character that doesn't rely heavily on meter on point because you're starting the round with 0 bars. Mid IIRC is usually used as the assist slot, or for DHC combos and such. Anchor is your heaviest hitter, saved for popping level 3 X-factor (or Z-factor in this case) and rely more on meter use because by then you should have more than no meter at all. Of course people don't play entirely based on these roles, and DBFZ especially seems to really encourage constant switching with forward assist mid combo or with DHC's because of how free meter is.

They are not any one thing. Some are robots, a few are sapient androids (8, 16), some are cyborgs (17,18), some are a brain in a jar (19, 20) and a few are purely biological creatures (Cell).
"Android" is vague, but the closest to the original equally vague japanese term of "Artificial Human". Many Japanese to english translations change "jinzoningen" to "android". It's not just limited to Dragon Ball.

Well, I agree that they're all different things, but android is a poor word for that because it's actually not really vague, at least I've never come across any source that defined android as something else than an automaton made to ressemble a human. Artificial human is probably a better fit, but i guess it's a mouthfull and sounds less cool sci-fi-ish.

Android 21/Super Vegeta

Nappa's got good pressure, Gotenks looks like he's got a fun combo system where his specials can combo into other specials, and Android 21 for waifufaggotry. When not being a faggot, Super Vegeta for the S-tier assist.

Reminds me of Cell's bear hug as a combo ender, ending the combo at the same height/position each time. Will probably provide similar combo extension.

Blue Vegeta/Trunks/SS Goku
Blue Vegeta because Vegeta's my boy.
Trunks seems very powerful and most fitting for my Parasoul/Ky experience.
SS Goku because of his powerful assist and with meter, he gets a lot of solo conversion into supers. Was my best character by far in the beta.

As more time passes though, I'm considering switching Trunks out for Android 21. Her ability to steal moves will make her an interesting mid. Initiate a combo with Bluegeta, switch her in to finish the combo into a grab, ending with a tag-in super Kamehameha. Then play out with Goku until I find a chance to either combo into Android 21 again, or simply Kamehameha into super, DHC into Bluegeta and repeat the process.

We'll see tho.

Ever since they nerfed the length of Vegeta's assist, it's not all that great. You can already blow through it with a super dash or a beam, but now the lockdown isn't even as impressive as others either. It's okay, but it's not holy shit this thing is amazing like it seems.
