Nothing except pachinko hell and western anime.
Kino
Well there is that rumor that Adventure Rebirth is getting released on Switch but I hope its a new game.
At least we have the anime.
>western anime
I'm so goddamn livid that Castlevania was dumbed down for normies.
How so? It's for the most part faithful to Dracula's Curse and SotN if we're talking about Alucard.
Grant is missing though, hope he's in the next season.
The next game is probably going to a small budget switch exclusive title like bomberman r.
Fuck you m8 it's great
I haven't seen it yet, I think I'll catch the whole thing when the second season comes out. Do they have any music like Aquarius or Vampire Killer from the games?
I'm guessing the Castlevania anime on netflix will revive the series in some way, at least revive interest anyway. With bomberman R selling well I guess, I wouldn't be surprised if Konami targeted the Switch for a Castlevania game. I'd be totally okay if they played anything like the DS games.
I'm on fucking board if they keep the same level of sprite animation and shit
No unfortunately.
>there's thousands of super metroid hacks
>literally none for SOtN
why must i suffer
Shit that sucks, music is one of the most iconic parts of castlevania. If it's an official adaptation I don't see why they couldn't have included remixes of the old tunes.
All it needs is a bit of retooling for difficulty
Music was one of the small criticisms as well, they may have not had the rights to the music.
Source? Fuck I don’t have a switch...
Why don’t they make a new game for the 3DS like Metroid: Samus Returns.
Because Konami were the only people involved with production who didn't give a fuck
>Trevor is a generic anime hero now
>the first third of so of the series sucks
>Alucard looks like a fag
>like you mentioned, no Grant
Go back.
>Alucard looks like a fag
But user....he always looks like a fag.
Netflix series is coming back this Summer, Adventure Rebirth could be getting ported to the Switch, and Konami is thinking about making a new game exclusively for the Switch. On top of all that Bloodstained is coming out this year.
There is plenty to look forward to and hope for for Castlevania fans right now. The only obstacle is Konami.
Unless you're going to Dobson us and bring up CVIII, is right.
Grant's coming
I'm completely fine with this, Castlevania doesn't need to be some big bloated AAA franchise. I just want to play good games.
>shirtless faggot is the same as a blouse-wearing Chad
That already happened with SotN / IGAvanias.
Everyone involved in the production of their old games, music, characters, story, engines, etc. Got royally fucked up by Konami
No, it will be a completely different game at this point
Oh relax faglord
Konami is a pretty big obstacle
Let's just hope that the thing that Konami said is working on is at least 2D
The show's made in Texas you mong
If it's by the Super Bomberman R team it will probably be a new Classicvania.
If Konami isn't bringing back Castlevania, hopefully Bloodstained is good replacement. I'm kinda pessimistic about its prospects but I'll give it until the end of this month, if they do a good update maybe I'll feel better.
I'm pretty fucking hype for Bloodstained. Definitely feels like the closest thing to a proper CV I've seen since 2009 or so. I got over the 3D a long time ago (though I'd still prefer sprites), and the demo was exactly what I wanted.
Gonna turn this board off when it comes out though because I know fuckers here are going to go max TORTANIC on it regardless of quality. I'm pretty fucking sick of the negativity in this place, it gets worse and worse every year.
This is the throneroom image right
Out of all the multimillion dollar kickstarter games Bloodstained looks the most promising. I believe in IGA.
>Bloodstained
AKA The Poor Man's Castlevania
It's better than what Castlevania is now, which is vaporware.
I think the graphics look kind of underwhelming but from what I've heard they haven't finished the lighting effects yet, so when they do it should hopefully look much better. It'd be nice to see that but I just want consistent updates, the December one was nice but they need to keep to a schedule. That's why I'm giving them the end of this month, if they get something out to the backers before Jan. 31 it means they can at least meet their deadlines properly.
Super Castlevania R announcement at E3. Believe.
Nigga have you even seen any recent gameplay of it? Look fucking atrocious.
Why settle for shit when you can go back and enjoy the actual good games?
That looks just like the DS Castlevanias to me user. I don't know what you expected.
Looks pretty good to me, the jumping is a little off but they can fix that.
Because it's getting harder to play the older games on newer consoles because devs hate porting shit. SotN still isn't on PS4 because those retards built the PS4 to not be backwards compatible.
Miriam's movements are actually 1:1 with Alucard's with SotN. They just look "off" because of the wider screen, so it doesn't look nearly as fast paced.
I mean it looks like a CV game with a different graphical style
and because it's not pixel art
Because I already played them, I've been playing CV since the early 90s m8
Does anyone else like the classic Castlevanias more than the Metroidvanias? Both are great but I prefer playing as the Belmonts.
I hope (((modern consoles))) aren't your only way to play videogames...
So replay them. Invent new challenge runs or speedrun them.
Lot's of people do. Personally I wouldn't want to choose between them. CV1 is a masterpiece of level design and enemy placement but I don't want to give up AoS's soul system or OoE's bosses either
No user but it gets harder to hold onto old things, especially hardware. Also I don't like emulating games, I have a dumb preference to only play them on consoles.
Or I can play the new one coming out
Why has no one made a Castlevania game equal to SOTN? The DS/GBA games were neat but basically amounted to cheat knock offs with 1/10 the quality.
Castlevania is known for its beautifully animated spritework and 2D backgrounds. This gimmicky "2.5D" makes the eyes bleed.
I never understood why we didn't get a Metroidvania where you played as a Belmont that could use multiple weapons. You can have the Vampire Killer whip be a primary weapon, but something similar to Shanoa's glyphs too for sub weapons at the same time would have been great.
Man I can't agree at all. I played SotN after a lot of them, but I prefer pretty much all of them to SotN. Not to say SotN did anything wrong, the others just played with the idea more.
Aria of Sorrow is just as good as SotN imo
They should honestly remake SOTN with new HD cutscenes, music, levels, bosses. All that good stuff.
It sure doesn't look as good but it looks fine m8
I guess in retrospect if you have the vampire killer you don't have to use anything else.
A discount belmont but Jonathan Morris in Portrait of Ruin uses lots of weapons and uses the vampire killer, which he has to earn the right to properly use
The short answer is kojima's lack of being able to stay on a budget hurt a lot of other konami games
It's really not that bad user.
Aria of sorrow dungeon skeleton fight.
Harmony of Dissonance sort of fits if you consider Juste using magically-enhanced subweapons while the whip always remains his main weapon, just with different enhancements.
Order of Ecclesia is the game we need.
HoD was pretty boring, and it got monotonous when you had to collect Dracula's body parts.
Sure
It's got nothing to do with the fact that each IGAvania sold less than its predecessor and Konami wanting to go mobile
Three scenarios are likely, pick one Sup Forums;
>reimagining/remake of Castlevania 3 to cash in on the Netflix series
>Super Castlevania R by the Bomberman R team, probably a game about Simon Belmont, a retelling of the first game
>no new game, just the Netflix series and Bloodstained
If you're hoping Konami will ever make another Metroidvania Castlevania it's not going to happen, unless they outsource it, but it will probably be Wayforward and not great at all.
>tfw you unironically prefer Super Castlevania IV to Symphony of the Night
>tfw you know you are alone
>tfw you know konami will never make another 2D Castlevania platformer
feelsbadman.jpg
I dunno, I think WayForward could do CV justice. Mix Aliens Infestation, Mummy Demastered and Bloodrayne Betrayal and we're most of the way there.
I’ve been trying to play the original classic castlevanias but why are they so difficult reeeeeee
4 is better than sotin but one of the weaker linear cv's.
1, 3, rondo, chronicles are top tier imo
I would prefer option 1 but 3 is unfortunately the most likely one given the current state of Konami.
What about Dracula X?
Agreed, it goes 1 > 4 > 3. Never played Rondo but it looks rad
The music is the worst part about the show, some of it is legitimately terrible. And a lot of the audio mixing seems wonky, with characters talking very quietly.
Hopefully season 2 is a step up because that was a huge disappointment.
What about this is fucking atrocious?
Aria of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia were all more entertaining to me than SotN.
Option 1 and 2 sound good to me.
I'm pretty hype about the possibility of Option 2
I don't really need a new CVIII, CVIII is just about perfect as-is
>Super Castlevania R
I can see this happening, given the success of Bomberman and how much people love Super Castlevania IV.
I wanna see a 3D Castlevania done right.
Have the progression work like Metroid Prime, but include RPG elements from the 2D Metroidvanias.
After playing the Doom mod, I think Castlevania would work very well in first person like Half Life/Metroid Prime.
No, give up. It's fucking Konami man. It's never coming back unless Nintendo buys the IP.
Can lament of innocence get a proper sequel?
How is Simon's Destiny? I haven't played it yet.
What if Platinum Games made a 3D Castlevania game.
Don't worry user
That's what Itsuno has been working instead of DMC5
It’s the only thing I want.
It feels more like a Castlevania game than a Doom mod if I can be totally honest. It captures the spirit of the series very well, it's probably the best 3D Castlevania ever made. The bosses are some stupid bullshit though, especially Death.
Because accessing assets on a cartridge rip is much easier than doing stuff with PS1 games.
I love their games but I question if they could do the exploration stuff well
With supervision from based IGA and the original artists and musicians involved? Count me in.
I'd take anything at this point. Sure.
Careful with that nostalgia bro. I just replayed SOTN and all the DS titles and I have to say, while it's great, it's easily surpassed by Portrait of Ruin and maybe Order of Ecclesia. Half of SotN's bosses are shit, most of its combat options are useless, and the Inverted Castle is mostly boring. Later Igavanias did a lot to refine the formula, even if it required trimming a bit of fat.
They already did a game and it's called Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth
>anything
So you wouldn't mind a third person cinematic action game complete with watered-down rpg elements, QTEs, dlc season pass and pay wall features?
>Half of SotN's bosses are shit, most of its combat options are useless
Take it back. NOW
After Lords of Shadow it can't get any more worse.
