>“Obsidian did a great job of capitalizing on the timing of Kickstarter and the wave of nostalgia for these type of titles,” goes his hypothesis. “We've seen that most of the titles after Pillars of Eternity, if you look at Wasteland, Torment - they haven't been anywhere near that kind of success. So maybe it's that a lot of nostalgia fed into the initial bubble and that's why. These games have a market, but it's never gonna be that peak [again].”
>Wester shoulders the responsibility for Tyranny’s marketing, which ran with the slogan: 'Sometimes, evil wins.' It was an approach that wisely brought Tyranny’s twist on RPG morality to the fore - but didn’t touch so much on its singular world and cast.
DIVINITY 2 PROVES YOU'RE WRONG!
Wow it's like Obsididrones don't want to admit that Obshittian creates generally unlikable and unsellable games
Everybody knows that Obsidian has been trash since New Vegas. They don't even have J. Sawyer and Chris Avellone is freelance now. The studio had a similar trajectory to Bioware. Known for producing cerebral, narrative heavy games in the past, went through a massive shake up due to ownership or change of management, and now a former shell of it's self that is is prime for hiring students fresh out of art school/college who have absolutely 0 skill. Stop holding Obsidian in a good light. It was over long ago.
>not posting the best of it He's a sonicfag with shit taste in fetishes, some of his spam is him shilling his blog.
Who the fuck is cassie cage and why does he hate her so much anyways?
Jason Davis
>obsidian D-team makes Tranny immediately after Pillars of Eternity >it's shit >LEL FUCKEN OBSIDIDRONES
Tranny was a fucking garbage game, but running around calling an entire studio shit because their d-team made a shit game is fucking retarded. Even by Sup Forums standards. Kill yourself.
Parker Allen
>but running around calling an entire studio shit because their d-team made a shit game is fucking retarded. I agree, however in this case every single Obsidian team is trash, they have never made a good game.
David Allen
how many times are you going to post this thread
Blake Parker
where's the other dozen rpg pastas you post along with this one OP?
Jaxson Jackson
divinity 2 is a great game imo, i also loved alpha as fuck protocoll and kotor 2(even though its a buggy unfinished mess)
Caleb Richardson
forever, see After the mods started cracking down on his spam by banning his op images and OP text he started compressing them to get round md5 filters ironically he uses the same filename schemes for all of his threads so it's even easier to find him now.
And he revealed that he's an incredibly pathetic faggot who begs for people to visit his fetish blog constantly.
Jaxson Gomez
Garbage is a little strong. It wasn't great, but it had some interesting ideas at least.
Jayden Powell
It was interesting concept which disappointingly boiled back down to being the chosen one and saving the world with a shitty artstyle to boot.
Nicholas Reed
Hopefully this means Obsidian will get their acts together soon. Larian Studios are beating their asses raw. OS2 was basically my game of the year. What a fucking adventure that game was.
Jace Cook
PoE sold because it's great and PoE 2 will sell because it'll be great and better than DOS 2. Tyranny was a small experimental side project and it's not that bad either.
Henry Torres
What was wrong with Tyranny? The concept sounded cool but all I ever heard was about how bad it was.
Parker Rivera
Probably the biggest problem is that is promises you can be the big bad's merciless right hand but in the end you inevitably become a rebel.
Gabriel Brooks
The concept is pretty poorly done. You have to side between two factions, one of which is cartoonishly evil and the other which is supposed to be evil but portrayed constantly as honourable and duty-bound. The game pretty blatantly pushes you towards a redemption arc where you save the world.
Christian Evans
This, basically. It doesn't really deliver on what it promises, and the art style kind of blows.
Luke Hill
There's a half-baked route where you strike out on your own, but it's pretty shitty. Would've been better if it had been a Kyros or Tunon loyalist route.
Michael Morris
It's implied you're gonna be a benevolent ruler though since that one Shadow the Edgehog assassin fuck cries about Kyros the whole time while helping you.
Christian Gutierrez
Wow, that's unfortunate. What's the point of making a game where you play as an officer of the evil empire if they don't let you follow it through to the end?
Jayden Robinson
They didn't have the balls to make you a straight up SS officer like they should've, it's as simple as that.
Zachary Bell
Plus the whole setting feels wretched, it's like the devs themselves weren't sold on the concept. Every single choice is about getting bogged down in some petty local dispute, there's not a single moment where you can go >stfu faggots, you'll all do it for Kyros' glory. You're always forced to pick a side when you aren't supposed to have one.
Jaxson Stewart
I haven't seen your shitposts in a while. Do you post new pasta now or have you been away?
Then they shouldn't have marketed it as a fantasy SS officer simulator.
Evan Nelson
I see. kinda dumb of me to think he would stop after all these years
David Myers
I suspect that the old guard simply couldn't rein in the new writers they hired and they just went with whatever they could remember from playing FFVII as kids.
Henry Perry
>B-BUT POE1 SOLD! >Only because of BG2 nostalgia I actually never could get into BG or ID because of retarded visuals and just not comfy feeling of the game (newfags fuck off, i've been playing games longer than most of you live. inb4 grandpa). POE on the contrary, caught my attention long enough to make me finish this game twice.
Gavin Gonzalez
At least this time he revealed what name he goes by because links to his shitty blog are in the mess of his spam. Timedwatcher Too lazy to properly play internet detective now though.
John Baker
When it was in development I remember reading that Tyranny was going to be a short game that can be played multiple times, is that the case? because Im feeling an itch to play an isometric RPG but dont wanna play a long game that I'll probably drop mid way through.
Zachary Lopez
No, about two times max. The three 'evil' options are basically the same shit and there's one 'good guy' option.
Oliver Green
>They don't even have J. Sawyer I just checked and he's working on PoE II.
Ethan Harris
I played Tyranny and I kind of wish I hadn't. It was the most milquetoast mediocre pile of trash I've ever played. Everything was like a pale imitation of better games, but it looked, felt and read like it had been doused in pure tumblr.
The art style looked like it belonged in a F2P mobile game, the storytelling was really atrocious and all over the place. You never got a sense of being evil unless you purposely chose the edgelord reposes. This defeated the whole point of personifying an evil government clerk. The ending was just shameful, the way everything was resolved with a cutscene.
Then again, the entire game uses cutscenes rather than gameplay to explain the setting, which sounds much more fun to play than the shit you actually get. And then there's the overuse of the stronk womyn characters, which no doubt delighted some. But it was pathetic that they chose to make most commanders female, and then give them all the most basic cookie cutter butch bitch personality possible. All of them have massive blocks of text devoted to describing how they spit phlegm at you or flip the bird. Evidently, a well-written woman getting the story spotlight should be wasted on making them act like teenage boys. The female companions especially suffer from this shit in a truly major way.
The biggest offenders though, are the army leaders. One is the angry old white-haired general who represents order and then there's the many-faced psycho trickster who represents chaos. However no matter who you are, the way of order will ALWAYS seem more appropriate because they are set up as the better, more reasonable choice. I'm not sure how I managed to play the game through till the end, but it left me disappointed and annoyed with how nearly everything was handled.
