Lets start with making the main character stand in front of shitty lighting to represent angelic wings and go from there.

That's actually really deep.

that doesn't even look like in-game Jensen

It's representing "reborn", not angel.

Because it's not AJ, it's his clone.

We never asked for this

Icarus you fucking morons. You know the guy with the augmentations that fell to his own hubris? Kinda a running theme throughout the whole franchise.

Damn, didn't know Sup Forums was this fucking stupid but goddamn.

It feels like the last act of the game was cut out. Regardless, I enjoyed the game. Hopefully Eidos doesn't jew us out and will finish the trilogy on a high note.

>What went wrong?

Same thing as Wolfenstein 2 and Dishonored 2

>make first game
>it's well received
>make a sequel years later that's just more of the same because you completely overestimated how much people actually give a shit about those characters and their stories
>only pleases the hardcore 1/4 of the fanbase that just wanted more of the same

the game was a bit too subtle with that

Oh, it's true. But I think there are one scene in the game about this, right? The rest is from promotional videos. I didn't gave a fuck for this game back then.
Also, I am right, t's reborn, the Icarus is the figure, brainlet.

I can only say I didn't play it because it was Jensen again. I don't hate Jensen but I don't care to play another game as him. Deus Ex is not a franchise that has mascots like that. It's not about the main character, it's about the world they reside in. Until Mankind Divided, four games, every single one of them had had a new protagonist. This one should have too.

The story suffers from one of the problems that plague many middle-of-trilogy stories. They intentionally held back on finishing plot threads so they had somewhere to go in the next one. Unfortunately they went way too far with it, and that made the end of the game feel unfinished since nearly all of the interesting parts went unresolved.

Was it really a 5 year dev cycle? It definitely doesn't feel like it.

The story sucked and the factions and conspiracy themes weren't as fleshed out as other DE games.

Map design and graphics were nice though. I love how the indoor areas in the game look individually designed, even if they are all cluttered with similar stuff.

I also never really understood how the energy bar worked and it just seemed to push you to rarely use any augs. But I guess using them constantly would overpower Jensen.

But does Jensen ever "fly too close to the sun"? Jensen himself isn't a very good Icarus analogy, what does he do through hubris that causes him to fail/suffer? If anything Sarif is the Icarus analog.

>be INTERNATIONAL police agent
>spend entire game in only 1 (one) place

Ask me how I know that you didn't played the game.
Or just google it and come back being a smart ass.

Sarif is Daedalus. Jensen is supposed to be foolhardy and naive, like Icarus. At least in Human Revolution he is.

You are right, though. The analogy is weak.

Feels like it should have come out in 2013 as an expansion to HR

Augmented humanity is the Icarus analogy. Jensen is just the vessel of such possibilities

I finished Mankind Divided yesterday. I had fun, but I felt like the end was barely the beginning of act 2. The villains got any exploration, they're just a bunch of faggots in golden masks because that looks cool I guess.
The whole double agent for some hacker faggot and the Interpol was so underdeveloped, and worse of all, the game starts with that, it's not something that happens mid playthru.
None of the new characters is the bit sympathetic, fuck, I was looking forward to the mission with Sarif because he made the game more entertaining than the rest of the cast who should be pushing the series forward, it made me miss Pritchard so much.
The game was ok, I had my fun, but I felt the characters and story were so undercooked, I couldn't believe I was finished with it.

You can admit you didn't play the game without being so stupid about it.

AaaaadaAAAmmm

Icarus didn't do anything wrong, his son Daedalus was a retard and disregarded Icarus' warnings.

Prague was very well designed but splitting it into two seconds with annoying train load screen was an awful idea. No way the game/computers couldn't handle it being one map.

Golem City really needed to be bigger, and offer sidequests. Really huge missed opportunity.

>last act
more like the last 2/3rds of the game

I was disappointed when I heard that there was only one hub, but I actually thought they did a decent job with the Prague hub world.

I felt like the GARM place on the glacier could have been a lot bigger and there could have been some great outdoor environments there too.

You've got those names backwards, my man.

I mean, I would really like this game if the whole thing was in 3rd person but the needless first person view is just fucking clunky
makes it difficult to navigate

The failure to recast original VA is what killed it for me.

I want a game where it's just Adam and Sarif hanging out.

This character gets built up as if she's going to offer a competing faction to TF29 but she literally does nothing. You can work with both her and TF29 without affecting either.

There's also no characterisation of any of the TF29 staff. Aria Argento seems like she's going to be and fairly important side character, but again, nothing happens. Same with Duncan MacReady.

The other factions also have no storylines. Even Invisible War let them have quests and defined purposes. Church of the Machine God in particular could have been fun to explore. Out of all of them, the Dvali crime family probably get the most airtime in the game but there's nothing interesting about them. They could be a group in any game.

This.
You can end the thread now.

Augmented fruitflies son

apparently this guy was also a double agent although that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in game

good thing we are all playing it for free, right bros?
I think I'm going to change the control lay out to standard FPS though. I gave it 2 missions to grow on me and it just sucks, I shouldn't need to claw grip to sprint

American hub city > Europoor hub city

I loved what they did with Detroit in the first game. Prague felt sort of claustrophobic. I did appreciate the vertical levels in MD, but everything else was superior in the first one.

I played it on PS4 with the default control scheme and hated it all the way through

I hated this nigger, fuck you Canada and your nigger pushing SJW bullshit.
>Bioware
>Ubisoft
All Canada made games are SHIT

No, Hugh Darrow is Daedalus. He's the father of augmentation technology, and resents it's creation (because his body rejects augs and he can't easily overcome his disability like other people). Just like how Daedalus invents the wings, and resents it when his son Icarus flies too close to the sun and falls from the sky.

I'd agree more with , that Humanity is the analog of Icarus. But Jensen himself doesn't really fit the mold. His hubris never causes him direct suffering.

You could kinda know that through emails on his computer but they clearly intended to reveal that in the next game

they could have just kept this girl

Like said you can find proof on his personal computer.

And also you can put it together yourself if you choose to call him instead Alex at GARM, Several things happen that the enemy could only have known if either Chikane or Miller told them, not enough time for anyone else to be involved. And Miller get's cleared later so it only really leaves one option for who is betraying you. I thought it was obvious before i ever read the email desu.

Ah Malik. How many no-kill/stealth runs were ruined by that segment in HR...

abandoning the project for some shitty marvel game didn't help either

>mfw cereal box cutscene

Why was Janus such a fuck up and such a faggot?

IIRC they pushed release by more than a year because they were dissatisfied with where it was.

It's telling that even after delaying release for so long, it's not as good and has substantial content cut.

>spyboi goes nuclear for the sake of her platonic love
it's qt imo

>Prague felt sort of claustrophobic
Because it's a Europoor city and was designed around foot traffic. Prague was ok, it just gets old fast as the only major hub. Had they included another city hub (or two), I think people would have liked it.

It was easy as fuck though, Tranq rifle was op and you can oneshot the mechs with emps.

There's something seriously fucked up with how MD was put together. Like they had to chop up the game and rearranged it multiple times.
It's weird that the firing range bit that teaches you how to fire your gun is like 2 hours into the game after you've already completed a bunch of levels shooting real enemies

I imagine there's a long development hell story for this game

>Same thing as Wolfenstein 2
>>only pleases the hardcore 1/4 of the fanbase that just wanted more of the same
that was the opposite reason that wolfenstein 2 was garbage

If you EMP any of the troopers that's the end of a stealth run.

jensen should have given her the metal-d

Do you think Jensen still has his cock? I'm not sure but leaning towards no. I think everything below the waist is augmented ei replaced.

As has been stated in this thread already, the analogy is weak. Daedalus was neither unable to use his inventions or regretted creating them and continued on after the Icarus incident. He even gave his wings as an offering to the gods in thanks. Hugh Darrow may be supposed to be Daedalus but he is not.

I honestly really liked MD, it was a good sequel to HR, with more infiltration routes, bigger arenas, more abilities and a story filled with conspiracies.
The problem was that the game feels half finished, storywise you just do about 50% of what is presented to you, leaving the real Adam plotline and the JC leader remain unknown.
It was the second chapter in a supposed trilogy that will probably never get finished due to poor sales.
Also, it didnt have flygirl or any other notable companions besides the girl from the JC which wasnt all that great and your TF29 boss.

He was augmented at the knees, not at the belt

He only had his legs augmented below the knees

Yes, it's canon. Said in an interview.

He's still got it. He fucks some other women in a novel or comic or something post augmentation. It's canon.

Pretty sure that isn't true at all, i got both achievements on my first play through and i used emp, i also just looked it up and confirmed other people use emp to clear it as well.

Also i thought alerts during that didn't even count because everyone is on alert before you can even do anything.

mankind divided is literally human revolution but improved. the story in both games is garbage so i didn't notice a huge decline. the original is so much better in that regard.

>the original was better
look, I like that game, but it was pretty silly. Absolute dime novella stuff compared to HR.

...

We don't know if he still has it after Alaska.

hes named elias hes a jew obviously

Am I the only one who thinks the whole pro-aug/anti-aug thing is a boring background for the story?

I think it's interesting from the point of view where it's pretty much what would happen if we had augs in this very moment.
I wonder if #chan has a board for Sup Forumsfaggots crying about degenerated augs and sayimg that the aug killer is just doing the best thing for humanity

We do have "augs" right at this very moment and that technology is only going to get more prevalent. To me it's like the debate over genetic screening and gene therapy and shit like that, you are going to have moralists whining over it but the population at large is less concerned about retaining their "humanity" than they are about allowing the blind to see, the crippled to walk, curing those with genetic disease, etc., etc.

We don't have augs right now. We have prosthetics. They're called "augmentations" because they're superior to the human body. The issue in the game was never people who lost the use of part of their body receiving a mechanical replacement to help them regain what they lost but the people who willingly had limbs amputated or implants installed in order to give themselves an advantage.

I think it could have been interesting if you had the option of genuinely going Aug-less during the game (and having that be reflected in the story).

Imagine:
>can choose to be anti-aug purist
>game is 10x more difficult because you're incredibly limited in your means of doing things and going up against people much stronger than you constantly
>have no health, must rely on gadgets and guns (melee isn't an option because enemies are much more physically powerful than you due to augs)
Instead you're just some fully aug-ed up god killing machine, even if you make anti-Aug story decisions. The story implies that anti-Aug people are extremists because players must experience first hand the advantages augs give them.

Uhm, she died

Canonically did not

I don't understand complaints about this games length, it was the same length as HR? Did people just skip all the sidequests and do zero exploration and then complain it wasn't long enough?

That's class crap. The same argument that has been going on for centuries. The unfair advantage that is whined about always trickles down and then they whine about the next one. It's a foolish thing to try to stop technological progress because someone gets it before you do and, as far as I know, every attempt in history to do so has failed. I don't see why augmentation would be any different.

if you have a look at the intro video you can see he still has his pelvis

youtu.be/_lgIZjPx700?t=72

With the last two DE games, the anti-augs have been styled on crazy religious fanatics while the pro-augs have barely touched on the obvious benefits they could bring. There's also no midground.

No issues with it at all. I completed whatever side quests I found. If anything I thought it overstayed it's welcome slightly.

It's all ridiculous, did they at least replace the bones? Because his actual pelvis should crack from doing big-ass jumps.

shit man its the future just roll with it

No goddamn I want to know more about mechanical augments. The lore in these games gives me the biggest boner.

I like how that one dude, the big bad from the first one was literally all augmented and it was implied he had an augmented dong (detachable)

>Am I the only one who thinks the whole pro-aug/anti-aug thing is a boring background for the story?

It is. It's a totally hypothetical debate that's based on pretty much nothing

>I don't understand complaints about this games length, it was the same length as HR

It feels half as long to people because the games narrative basically feels like the story to an expansion pack, except stretched out over 40 hours

I unironically thought that said soyboy at first glance

>Human Revolution
>improving the Hacking augmentation is just described as becoming better at using the aug itself
>Mankind Divided
>improving the Hacking augmentation allows it to take over the medulla oblongata to give you the processing power to hack high level computers, potentially killing you in the process

you know how the early augs have chicken legs for jumping, just imagine the later models improve upon that so you can look human

It's a neo-luddite story

shit villain, shit no ending, shit milk DLC, didn't run on third worlders prebuilt

haha lol!

>it was implied he had an augmented dong

Where the fuck did you get this from? I remember no such implication.

so Sarif is the good guy, right?

>transhumanist
>good

It's not a bad game but I expect better by now.
Why was there so much focus on boring side quests rather than more actual fucking missions?
I'd gladly let them remove most of the boring in-hub sidequests and instead get longer/more epic/more fleshed out main missions with actual choices.
There's no "you can save Paul/Malik" in MD
2 of the game's best missions are DLC
I hate how they just listened to the soyboys who complained about the bosses in HR.
The game is so similar to HR in gameplay and mechanics that it feels too easy to tackle the game's challenge. I'm starting to think the usual DX gameplay loop has a flaw somewhere. When even the most secure bank in the world has a very obvious air duct you can crawl in just above that impressive looking laser system you. Not to mention that going gun blazing is never part of the equation, when IT SHOULD. In fact it's the hardest way to do anything and will reward the least XP anyway.

Well you fight him purely nude, and he clearly has no dong. But there is a port where a dong could go.

Honestly I'm not sure where I got it. But I'm positive I read something somewhere.

I haven't gotten around to playing the new Deus Ex games myself (They're in my backlog), but is it just me, or did Mankind Divided get way less hype on Sup Forums than Human Revolution? I remember 2011 Sup Forums having loads of "I never asked for this" posting, threads discussing augmentations, etc, while it feels like no one on Sup Forums really cared about Mankind Divided when it came out.

>augment your pre order
>they were clearly avoiding any questions about whether there was more than one hub

It was basically the anti hype

>The game is so similar to HR in gameplay and mechanics that it feels too easy to tackle the game's challenge. I'm starting to think the usual DX gameplay loop has a flaw somewhere. When even the most secure bank in the world has a very obvious air duct you can crawl in just above that impressive looking laser system you.
This really, all the levels are designed to have superior stealth approaches and it's always very easy to find them so casuals don't get turned off.

I played it stealth, then I watched my friend play loud and honestly he had more fun than I even though he was underpowered for most of the game.

>>augment your pre order

I forgot about that about that, but now I remember everyone being mad about it.

HR is absolutely comfy and my personal GOTY 2011

I was stoked for MD, but it ended up being a wet fart that I haven't touched since launch. I still feel bad for the friend that bought it for himself and I

There is a very large socket on his crotch but there is no implication it's for a detachable schlong. That sounds like crap coming from people who also think he fucked Megan because TEE HEE KEK

its all just people's head canon, but theres space where it can go
