I make posters because I have a lot of ideas and not are too lazy to animate, also don't plan to make money with it or anything. But I make posters in a way that it would not work as an animation anyway. Like, add extra effects SFM or even After Effects doesn't have and edit parts of the environment and models to look better in photoshop.
Started on new years 2018 and gathered 20 followers so far. Not sure how long I'll do it.

And dota doesnt count, not because dota sucks, but because the dotasfm2 is more like an experimental prealpha version that will never be completed rather than an actual sfm update.

And you know whats worse? Theres things like ue4 that are free and orders of magnitude more powerful, but nobody is gonna make use of them in favor of this.

If it werent for things like mmd, i would say that the machinima scene is already dead!

True but I have to say that my favorite porn animations still come from SFM. Blender can make things look smoother but Blender has its own specific look to it that I just don't like. Makes it all look like plastic. It fits certain characters like the ones from overbotch though.
Also afaik SelfDrillingSMS uses SFM and he is the best there is. That guy must do nothing else 24/7 than to sit in his room and make porn. He adds minute long dance scenes for no reason that require insane work kek.

True, sfm has been a godsend to pornmakers everywhere and the detail of some models surpasses by far anything mmd has.

My point is, that for sfm to stay alive, needs updates, FAST.

Sfm is not a bad tool, its just that is archaic as hell, and nobody seems to care into make an actually better alternative, and its not like valve is gonna make it actually opensource so people improve on it either. And as the tool keeps being outdated, people will use it less and less. Not to mention, making source format models is limited and user-unfriendly as fuck!

I don't use SFM but I've been using Blender to make vidya porn, I've only made 2 renders but hopefully I can eventually make some money with this stuff

The interest people have in using it can't be lost on Valve but maybe their concern is that people think they support kinky pornmakers if they focus on it now. They just have to release some alibi model kit to pretend they didn't just do it because the demand from porn makers.

How much do people commission fucked up animations for? SFM seems like a nice way to earn some cash.

I'm not very familiar with patreon but there is a way to make it so that you only get money per creation, not per month. Not sure how that works. I guess there is a cooldown in that case, like you can do that when you don't have more than 1 creation per month.
