This is the most underrated RPG of all time

This is the most underrated RPG of all time.

I stopped in disc 3 because I was bored of the random battles, the combat system was pretty dull once the novelty wore off, and the writing seemed pretty basic. Please convince me to finish it.

I don't have to convince you to do shit. I don't care if you liked it or not.

Yeah it is. Makes me a little sad FF7 gets so much love and attention. Oh well, fuck Sega for screwing up the Saturn and making 5 copies of this game available to players.

How the fuck do you get bored on disc 3. That's when shit hits the fan and gets really interesting. It's when the truth is revealed. You never even have to grind in this game. The game has random battles but you're constantly moving forward. It's not like FF or other RPGs.

what's a good way to play this nowadays? Saturn emulation?

I think depending on the emulator, some people have had problems with the game hanging on disc 2 (out of 4). Otherwise it's supposed to be as good as emulation gets.

I wish sega cared about publishing and making good games again. They have been very mediocre since after 6th gen.

so this thread is already dying

PDS needs a remake along with this whole damn trilogy for the third game.

motoi sakuraba's work really stand out here man I highly recommend a listen to some tracks from sf3

one of the most overrated rpg's actually. pretty sure people pretend to love it because of it's "rarity".

he had nothing to do with panzer dragoon.

It's hard to believe that it didn't start as an rpg series what with the world building and all.

>he had nothing to do with panzer dragoon.
Think he was talking about SF 3, bro.

Is Crimson Dragon any good?

All because the kids got their playstations from mommy and daddy.

They never sought out the better games and now it's too old for this generation to go back to and truly enjoy.

Fantastic game. Fantastic soundtrack.

I like the action Shining Forces like Wisdom much better than the SRPGs

yes, but also PDS as if they have something in common other than both being on the saturn.

The ending kind of makes the game. It's fucking 15 hours long, get off your ass and finish it.

Absolutely not, it's actually extremely overrated. Very short, battles are slow as fuck and very easy, virtually no plot outside of "bad guy wants super weapon so he can conquer the world". Only good thing it has going for it is its art and environments.

I think people just shill it so much to raise the price of it on eBay.

UH NO SWEETIE

>This is the most underrated RPG of all time.
I don't think underrated is the right word. It received fantastic reviews at launch and it's highly praised by most people who have actually played it. Biggest problem is the lack of access to the game. Very limited release in the west, no re-release, and emulation is very hit or miss for the game.

Still kicking myself over passing up a US copy a few years back for $150, luckily I can read moon so I picked up a JP copy for like $20.

>emulation is very hit or miss
SSF emulates it perfectly and has for at least a decade. Doesn't take any fussing with the settings either.

Was just listening to Shining Force 3 music the other day. Now that the whole trilogy has been translated, I really need to play through it.
