It's the same reason that Smash Bros replays don't work with a new patch. The damage output of heroes aren't correct. So when you hit someone in the air, they wouldn't go as far, or may go further. So you could knock someone(or not knock them far enough) and end up with a bugged out part where the character doesn't die when they should.
