So is this game actually any good, or is it one of those classics you'll look back on but should never play?

Despite being a port it's clunky in a sense that navigation and fights are not superflashy and deep like in SMTIV, but to me it's really valid nontheless. Lots of bonus content too, but you'll have to earn it.
It's a shame the first Devil Summoner has not yet been translated as well though, we're effectively missing a piece of the story.
It is. Nice story and characters, great fusion system, decent demon negotiations and attitude.
it's okay or maybe I'm just burned out of this games
Bump. I'm curious if I should play this before IV.
Story wise, absolutely not.
It's a spin-off entirely separate from mainline SMT.
I wanna fuck Nemissa
It's my personal favorite SMT game based on it's setting and sense of aesthetics alone. It's very much an oldschool SMT in design though, there's no press-turn here and two rows for your party members. It's not very long though. If you're used to JRPGs in general, you really should have no problem with it. Remember that sexy defines Nemissa.
My Nemissa has fire skills because I didn't know that one choice mattered.
Did I fuck up?
Yes.
Sexy Nemissa is the only right choice.
What sells it to me is the cyberpunk atmosphere and the overall dated tone. It's a product that has aged fantastically if you're a fan of the idea that Hollywood had about computers and the Internet in the '80s and '90, like for example with the movie Hackers.
This. Almighty all the way.
...
I also want to play this game, the cyberpunk aestethic from the 90s looks comfy as fuck. Is it very annoying to deal with random encounters?
Nash, the game's pretty easy. If you build right anyway. Just use your common sense when fusing demons and dump every point into Magic. On Nemissa of course, since MC can't use magic. He can do decent physical damage with good weapons, but it's not really necessary. Nemissa will carry you, and your only job is not to die.
It's a nice game, but it's no masterpiece by any means.
thanks for the protip bro, here have a qt demonfu
It's good, but if you're like most of Sup Forums, you'll struggle with the way demons consume resources if you have them out as you explore dungeons. The key is to only bring them out before a boss fight. There's also a special demon named Zeed, whom you can fuse early on in the game and never consumes resources even if you have him in your party as you explore.
One more thing: your luck stat influences a ton of shit, including your ability to successfully recruit demons, if I recall correctly. Make sure you invest in that.
It's cyberpunk theme carries it hard. But the rest of the stuff about it isn't bad, just okay. Overall worth it IMO.
I love it. It was actually my first SMT after I played persona 3 and I thought it was very enjoyable
The gameplay is sloppy, but decent fun nonetheless
IV is better and more essential
How do christians even play smt? Wouldnt this be some high tier hypocrisy?
It just makes the game more fun, the developers really did their homework. Plus I can always side with God if I want to.
>not becoming Christian after playing SMT
Hmm, i guess so. I thught it might be weird summonig demons as a christian
I doubt I'll ever play something like it again, it's one of my favorite SMTs. It's dated/archaic in some areas, especially the last few dungeons, but if you can look past that it's pretty fun and comfy. One of the most oddly relaxing games I've played.
It's alright. A bit too easy for a SMT game. The aesthetic alone is the biggest sellong point of the game.
>he played on 'normal' difficulty
>he didn't play postgame
