I'm american, I don't have time for this shit. Skipped.
The ship is not even lined up, why would you jump
Back then, I jumped right away and missed Shadow.
But nowadays, I'd likely think "why would they even have the option to wait?" and pick wait just to see what would happen.
...
Why is the gba translation so much better
I honestly figured they'd wait on the ship till the last second instead of having to wait at the edge of the map.
If I'm a getaway driver, I wait in the car, not outside the doors of the bank
How were you supposed to know to wait for Shadow on the SNES original anyways, besides seeing out of boredom what happened if the timer ran out?
Didn't they previously show Shadow alone and injured on the Floating Continent? Why WOULDN'T you wait for a party member (with your good gear still on him)?
Actual remake when?
some magazine i donĀ“t know
You only see him near the start and he's fine at that point. For all you know he was going to return with the rest of you somehow given Shadow takes care of himself, but nope.
what if they make a sequel with vargas redeeming himself?
Forget Shadow. How the fuck did people figured you can stop Celes from killing Cid with bad fish?
>jump
>Relm inherits Interceptor
I can't believe this wasn't in the vanilla game.
>heh nothing personel kid
>dies
I think in both translations it says "Gotta wait for Shadow", but only the second time you go to the ledge.
I did it by accident by doing one fish at a time, and going for the hardest one to catch each time.
You get a better scene if he dies anyway.
>I'd likely think "why would they even have the option to wait?"
To go back for the treasure along the path?
You get a similar ending cutscene for every character you fail to recruit in the world of ruin.
Only Celes, Edgar, Setzer and Terra are mandatory.
>millions of ff4 remakes
>meanwhile the city of ff5 and 6
You saw what happened when they made an "HD updrade" of FFVI for tablets.
Modern Square is literally incapable of doing FFVI justice.
Terra isnt mandatory
Sabin is.
This is my greatest videogame failure of all time, I remember that I still waited around a minute and then I was like "yeah no, he sacrificed himself, theres no point in waiting" or something like that. I still regret that choice.
But on the other hand FUCK YOU Shadow, how dare you leave the party after some random battle, like, you didnt even try to extend the time of our contract
>Terra
>Mandatory
Don't you have to fly back her village and beat up a fat dude to make her rejoin?
>"yeah no, he sacrificed himself, theres no point in waiting"
Fucking this, like, i just expected him to stay alive after or something, not that i had to wait for him
Who are you talking about?
They did the lazy route, they could have went for DS style visuals like 3 and 4
I picked Wait when I played it at the young dumb age of 14. I would like to think most kids could understand that there might be something to the Wait choice.
>Sabin is.
No he's not. Just don't go into that town.
Terra flies up the tower to be present for the scene before the fight with Kefka even if you don't recruit her.
Can you still get Relm and Strago if you wait for Shadow? I forget.
Of course
This game is way too long. Can't play a game like this today, nobody would watch it!
You can. Relm will be where Shadow is supposed to be if you did wait for him, so in that cave instead of painting for the rich dude.
>Terra flies up the tower to be present for the scene before the fight with Kefka even if you don't recruit her.
Wait what is that true
>leave the party after some random battle
I believe its got to do with the money you get after every battle. So, its not really random.
>extend contract
Shadow's got bigger fish to fry.
Dont remember much but at least 3 charachters are mandatory to have, seeing as there are 3 different routes in the Tower of Kefka.
Yeah. You have to go pretty far out of your way to get terra back, dude.
And those 3 are Celes (start as her), Edgar (needed to cross the ocean in Figaro Castle), and Setzer (needed for the airship)
According to google, Terra isnt mandatory, she just appears at the end (AFTER kefka's defeat) just to participate in the ending cutscenes.
The mandatory are Edgar, setszer and Celes, since kefka tower splits the party in 3.
user...
...
fuck off that shit doesnt exist
This is the scene I was thinking of, but it turns out she isn't actually added to your part at that time
The PC port is really nice
*delets your saves*
heh... omae wa mou shindeiru
it hurts
No Ted Woolsey.
...
It literally says that on the SNES version too. You have to select Wait multiple times and return to that spot, and eventually it will say "Gotta wait for Shadow..."
I miss Ultros
There's a romhack that does this.
When you visit Duncan in the WoR he'll have Sabin face off against a redeemed Vargas to prove that he's worthy to finish his training and receive Bum/Phantom Rush.
Same, but he makes some appearances, which is quite a lot better than many other characters in the game.
I've chosen to jump each time for a really long time, because I think love and hope are so integral to the ending that I can't accept Shadow's part in it. Him finally throwing away his emotionlessness here and bringing his arc into a resounding end is much more fitting thematically.
Holy fuck balls I am so mad they made FFV and VI like this, I prayed for a remake like they did for I/II/IV on the PSP, instead we got this.
Those ugly sprites are way too distracting and the UI is garbage.
>Setzer
>Gau
>Strago
>Mog
Best team
The path is destroyed behind you as you go, there's nothing to get if you go back.
>actual
i hope you didn't like secret of mana, user
Why did Locke tie a bandana onto a seagull in the first place?
Desperation and whimsy.
It had a broken wing and Locke's savior complex is like his primary character trait.
I never played this game before but it was rather surprised this game actually contained a scene of attempted suicide because of despair.
FFVI got away with a lot of shit
This should be interpreted as a "you're too young to be talking like that missy"
shadow was unironically my favorite character along with sabin when i played this game. Granted it was 1994 and i was 10 at the time but still. Always sad I was never able to save him
>there are people in this thread RIGHT NOW who still don't believe Gogo is Daryl
HOW WERE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW
Oh god dammit
The 2nd is what appears after you select (Wait.) once, in all versions.
gogo is the dog emperor
DONT TEASE THE OCTOPUS, KIDS!
GAME OVER
>I must go, my planet needs me.
>they didn't know about getting the extra Genji Glove at the beginning of the game by having Terra say no to Banon three times
Sabin is mandatory because why the fuck wouldn't you want him in the party?
This.
It's like you guys completely lacked any sense of fun or adventure. I bet none of you ever knew about the bad ends of Dragon Warrior 1 or Golden Sun.
Because Setzer with loaded dice and offering blows him out of the water?
suplex
That was the hint for you to wait
The ending even pretty heavily implies it.
FF6 is good but doesn't get great until the World of Ruin.
Non-linear Open World > linear narrative
...
>Terra
>MC of FFVI
Good one
I agree, but sadly most other people are plebs.
World of Ruin has some of the best story beats, and has all of the best dungeons:
>Daryl's Tomb
>Phoenix Cave
>Owzer's Mansion
>Ancient Castle
>Kefka's Tower
Imiss when FF games or games in general had optional characers and summons and dungeons and shit. Today noone would bohter creating thing some people might never see
>I agree, but sadly most other people are plebs.
What does that have to do with anything. You can fuck up both. 13 went too hard on the linear path, 15 went to hard on the nothing happens empty open world part. But Square doesn't seem to understand that there's a middleground
Or they'd just be DLC.
On the other hand, once you find out about how much shit is skippable in Chrono Cross it's hard to play it without a walkthrough handy
WoR is when FF6 falls apart because the gameplay is so fucking badly done it can't support what it's trying to do. There's nothing enjoyable about immediately becoming OP with no effort and shitting on the entire game.
I love the old Final Fantasy games. FF1,3,4,5,6 are all wonderful, memorable games I still play. I only wish the series didn't tailspin so hard after 9.
This just proves IX and VII are the best games.
cool, I love charts
General Leo and Beatrix were rad as fuck
When I played the game I always had Locke in my party because I though he was the MC, but apparently it was Terra?
I don't get it
I miss Ultros's comedy threads.
I agree. Not all of the games are bad but the franchise has really gone off track. I would say that just 10 and 13 that are bad. Gameplay wise, they both feel so automatic, even more so than previous games in the series. There's also really stupid shit like, for example, there's a side quest where you have to kill every enemy with a certain sword. Ok, I'll start in the snowy mountains since I like snow levels. Hey, congrats, you got a weapon for your mages that makes every spell cost 1mp. It completely trivializes the game but how am I supposed to not use that? I just don't understand why such an absurdly powerful weapon is just given out like that. That said, 10 has some of the fiercest optional content by a large margin so there is that, but the overall game itself is just uninteresting and 10's story was also insultingly predictable. Hilariously, 10 and 13 are the only games to get direct sequels. It's like they somehow knew they were going to be shit and they wanted to rub it in people's faces.
11, 12, 14, and 15 aren't so bad but then there's another problem; 11 and 14 are MMOs and 12 and 15 are really fucking different from the other games in the series. If you want a traditional FF game that's good, well there hasn't been one for quite some time.
I will get you wet:
