what will next-gen be like?
What will next-gen be like?
Other urls found in this thread:
A Bloodborne port that will finally play at 60fps.
Same shit but prettier just like this gen was
every game releases with a mandatory ''win the game'' mode
need to keep that accesability
shit
MS will do full backwards compatibility with Xbone and 360, OG Xbox might be somewhat back compat.
Sony will Double down on PSNow, the same IPs and pull a PS3.
Sony is going to release their version of the Switch, so will Microsoft.
When Nintendo innovates successfully the others inevitably follow
I love how wacky renders have never fallen out of style.
Why dont we get obscure console mockups anymore? The same images have been floating around forever.
>what will next-gen be like?
4k sub 30fps with an upgrade console 2 years later thats 4k solid 30fps. Nintendo with a stable 1440p console or a stable 1080p handheld in my dreams i seent it
remember this?
MS will transition fully to a services model and if they remain in the console sphere, expect nothing but a streaming box.
Sony will make an Xbox One X.
Nintendo will Nintendominate.
Terrible. The Yakuza franchise probably won't even make it to next gen.
Monster Hunter World and Bloodborne will come to Switch 2
Microsoft is really Anti game streaming tho. Sony is the only one of the big three that has a streaming service.
forgot the power of the cloud TM?
Cloud data =/= Game data.
Just because processes can be handled in cloud computing, doesn't mean that the whole game is, dumbass.
no games, literally ZERO FUCKING GAMES
It takes like 5 years to make a triple A game for 8th gen and they still come out unfinished because they ran out of money. Now let's have even more powerful hardware and as such higher expectations. Where do you think it'll realistically lead? 8th gen is already nearly 5 years old and there's a staggeringly low amount of true 8th gen titles compared to previous generations.
Fact is if you're expecting "next-gen" games in any near future, you'll be severely disappointed. There won't be any in the next ten years even if PS5 was released yesterday. The only thing that will go up from here is resolution and fps.
I don't see Sony releasing a new PS console for at least another two years. They're just going to ride the PS4 wave for now.
Even less big AAA and AA games, plenty of smaller stuff, better graphics (probably 2160p in many games), still 30fps
My guess is 2021
Same thing as ps4 but with more powerful cpu and gpu, etc.
Basically the same thing they always do.
The leaps going forward though, will be shorter and shorter in terms of visuals.
We will hit a wall sooner than you think.
As long as the games are good though, then whatever.
More PC lite consoles made on the cheap with no games while Nintendo actually innovates and creates new ways to play.
I wouldn’t expect it for at least three more years though. The Pro and the One X were very expensive and Microsoft and Sony probably want to get their money’s worth out of those before they move on.
I can see that. I'm sure Sony is hoping for MS to stumble again, but I don't see it happening.
I always see Nintendo systems to be a good companion to either a PS or Xbox console.
true 4k games at 20-28 fps and remasters at 4k 30
Yeah, partial cloud computing is a concet completely opposite of game streaming and microsoft is really "anti game streaming"
We already have a peak at what next-gen might have in store. You'll probably get overly ambitious, "open planet/solar system/galaxy" games like BG&E2, but they'll take half a decade to a decade to produce and will essentially be as deep as a puddle. But they're big and look cool and totally next gen in commercials.
finna based
ape escape 4 is made
Pretty gud since you can't buy graphics cards anymore for a decent price.
>The only thing that will go up from here is resolution and fps.
Which is why every developer is pushing easily scalable engines that could run on anything from a toaster to a supercomputer. Making games from whole cloth with custom engines has gotten too hard and takes too long and everyone is abandoning it. Even Nintendo is abandoning in house engines and jumping on Unreal.
Maybe 1440p
Download only
Online DRM
500GB HDD
1 game will be around 100GB
PSPlus/XboxLive required to do anything online
a "skip combat" button
PlayStation released.
5 years later the PlayStation 2 released.
6 years later the PlayStation 3 released.
7 years later the PlayStation 4 released.
Does this mean that the PlayStation 5 will release in 2021??
8K/30fps
yeah some time around then, probably 2020.
Could be very likely. PS4 is outselling the PS2 right now with no signs of stopping
The Pro basically extended the Ps4's lifespan. PS5 will very likely release either 2020 or 2021. Same goes for the next Xbox.
Even more lifeless.. games primary focus would be on micro transactions, sequels will re use 70% of the assets of the first game (animations, enviroments etc). More p2w, more "remasters", more "experiences". Basically cancer.
Screencap this faggots.
Gaming is dead, get another hobby.
It's a shame that the Pro isn't more competent. With 4K being pushed everywhere now, Sony could have made a better console for their customers.
I fear the that Xbone's always online shit will come back.
8K 20FPS and normies will eat it up
Maybe it'll finally be able to do 1080p60ps
Also, if we don't start hearing hardware "leaks" and rumors on the PS5 within the next few months, I expect a 2020 or later release. If we do start hearing leaks and rumors spill out, it'll be a 2019 release.
They didn't need to. PS4 was selling so well; I think the Pro was just in response to Xbox One X, because the original Xbox could barely keep up with this gen. This gen is just a mess. Nobody can even market their next console in the future with "Most powerful console of all time" because Microsoft used it for their mid-gen refresh machine.
On a side note, It's actually funny how things turned out.
>base PS4 significantly more powerful than base Xbox One
>Xbox One X significantly more powerful than Pro
>Nobody can even market their next console in the future with "Most powerful console of all time" because Microsoft used it for their mid-gen refresh machine.
Please, it's been used before.
I see it as Sony either being too shortsighted regarding 4K, or they just wanted to get it out there for PSVR. Either way, they could have handled the Pro a lot better and curtailed the benefits that the X1X offers.
I don't give a fuck about any console as long as they force me to pay for using internet I already paid for.
They can have 4k with 120fps and whatever I'm not paying for multiplayer access.
lmao no
Devs get more and more lazy to the point where they can't even do that on an Xbox One X
The most import question is - given how many ps4 were sold and that there are some great games for it now, will ps5 be backwards compatible? Will it be only for digital versions of games or for physical as well?
Win the game mode will cost 5-10$
It's not looking good as the suits at Sony despise BC and think that their fans don't want it.
I remember reading a lot about the PSVR in regrads to the Pro so you're probably right about that.
this.
I can see Sony doing something similar to the Switch, but I don't see MS dabbling in gimmicks as long as Phil is there.
No one's copying the Switch simply because you'd have to go all in. Sony does not want to try and support two platforms. Not even Nintendo wants to do that anymore. After the 3DS is discontinued, the Switch is all Nintendo will have. It's just easier this way.
The Pro was halfassed but delivered well enough by being out a whole year before the X and being over $100 cheaper than the X thanks to being out for longer. While the technical difference is considerable, the Pro has a larger userbase to warrant more optimization effort.
I mean nobody will use it in the near future, like with next-gen.
It just won't have the same impact, when you rehash marketing for next-gen consoles that will be about on par with each other and with the Pro and X. Just feels cheap. Microsoft was so obnoxious with their marketing for the X, and it didn't live up to all of it's promises. But they had to do it, because their image was so fucking trash up to that point.
8k (interlaced) 24fps
Would be a brilliant move if sony used AMD’s chips with glued on vega graphics processing. We’d get close to 60fps with decent graphics.
There won't be anothe gen because of mining
A next gen makes no financial sense from the console companies' point of view.
It's up to the devs to privilege performance over graphics
Ps5 will yet again have a amd cpugpu combi and ps5 will therefore be able to play ps4 games.
Pretty much. Funny how Sup Forums never stops to think how mining will affect future contracts Sony MS have with hardware manufacturers.
will never happen
i miss the retarded "future console" designs the mid 2000s brought us
Retards. The APUs used for consoles aren't affected by mining.
There are already games which runs at 60 fps on ps4
4k almost.
30 fps at least most of the time.
It will be hella epic.
I doubt we'll get a next gen now. I'm green conscious, but there's no need for us to keep recycling consoles and games ever year.
Them releasing a PS4 pro in the first place makes me think that it'll for sure be longer than the 7 years between PS3 in 06 and PS4 in 13. It'll probably be 2021 or 2022
Meaningless. They are produced in the same sweatshops. And if mining demand keeps up, consoles won't get lucrative deals on hardware anymore because manufacturers will focus on the more profitable market.
Currently, consoles are still as cheap as they are because of years-long existing contracs, but those will be moot by next gen.
Holly shit you're dumb
That's what they said for the previous gen
4k. no upgrade in gwafix, no upgrade in ai, physics going backwards
Mining was around years back aswell. In fact the 7870 used in the PS4 were used for mining frequently. AMD isn't dumb enough to let some fad get in the way of a contract that would result in 100m+ million units of AMD APUs being manufactured.
not graphically demanding games then
but i think we'll see more performance and graphics options for console games
In addition to charging you $60 a year to use your own internet to play online, you must now pay another $60 a year to use your own electricity to power the console.
Every game will have 2-5 minutes of ads baked directly into their startup, buy the premium start-up pass for only $80 a year to get to skip them.
Games will also play ads every for 30 seconds once every hour of gameplay, buy the Deluxe Gameplay Streamlining pass for only $40 to avoid ad interruptions.
Games themselves will all start up as mostly blank screens, with the only available tab being the in-game store, where you can purchase feature lootboxes for 4.99, which will randomly contain other menu features like "new game", "load game" and "options". (Yes you can get duplicates, no duplicates do not get converted into any kind of currency to spend on other stuff). Stating or loading up a game takes you to another lootbox buying menu where you buy 2.99 gameplay lootboxes which unlock things like characters, items and levels. Can't even play the game until you have at least a full set of each.
Because mining wasn't as big. Look at the gpu prices
>Microsoft was so obnoxious with their marketing
Again...
Mostly affecting Americans. European GPU prices are same as always. Also the higher prices is most always due to retailers themselves inflating the prices. Nvidia and AMD aren't making that much from this. Trust me, they're not going to skip a contract for a PS5/X2 just because miners are crazy about them.
Still a better name than Xbox One
They used to be, but just last week GPU prices in my area went up about 30%.
Came here to say this. Fuck miners.
>+development costs for AAA games
>+ambitions for AAA games
>+false/manipulative marketing for AAA games
>+development times for AAA games
>+risk for AAA games
>+predatory monetization for AAA games
>+games as a service for AAA games
It can't possibly be good.
in terms of games most will be designed as open wold online experiences with some kind of monetization system. prices will also go up. there will be even fewer tripple A games per year than now and even less legit good ones (for non normalfags). in terms of graphics full 4k support at 30fps is expected, visuals won't change much or at all. VR games might became more popular but won't become mainstream choice in next 10 years or at least until nintendo makes it's own VR only console.
Xbox will have incremental upgrades similar to Android and iOS devices. Xbox One will be able to play future titles with lower performance. Newer Xboxes will be able to play all older titles.
PS5 will follow the traditional console generation scheme. Sony using unusual hardware like the Cell is extremely unlikely, it will probably use standard computer parts like the PS4. BC with PS4 highly likely.
Who knows what the hell Nintendo is cooking up. Whatever it is, it won't be just a more powerful Switch.
a 5 year old pc as always
Native 4K HDR for all anyone care.
30fps.
Paid online.
Gimmick of the moment will change from social integration and twitch crap to something like a crypto button.
fpbp
It's Sony's turn to act arrogant and get caught with their pants down
lmao you wish
keep your dream alive, dreaming is still how the strong survive
cancer get a pc
