I picked this up on the PS4 while it was free. Is it just me, or does the way darkness affect your character seem to change in the first one? I remember being in the dark for a few seconds would wreck Daniel's mental health stat, but now that I need to hide from monsters it takes much longer. I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering if I'm misinterpreting information or if it legit changes on purpose.

I find the darkness and insanity mechanics in the first one to be troublesome, because the way the visuals get messed up gives me a headache. Other than that, the game's fine. It's one of those "Play alone in the dark" type games that has some good atmosphere at times. I haven't played the other two yet.

But the pack I got has three separate titles. Or maybe it's an expansion? It has "The Dark Descent", "Justine", and "A Machine for Pigs". I'm only really familiar with the first due to the splash it made several years back.

Justine is an expansion. I found that one pretty enjoyable. Machine wasn't as memorable.

It's not as memorable. It's been so long but I remember that most of the "dangerous" situations weren't actually dangerous. It was all sounds. It's not even something you figure out after the encounter. You'll realize them right then and there.

if you are talking about the the second game or that DLC for the original. They basically scrapped a core gameplay mechanic of the original that kept a balance. That being Darkness your greatest defence, as well as downfall.

Getting rid of that was one of many things that ruined the sequal for me.

What's with all the free games in the last six months? I can understand Ubisoft doing it since no one would use UPlay otherwise (they still don't) but why humble?
