Takes more work than other fighters due to the whole Xrd engine shading philosophy they've got. Unlike stuff like SFV or KoF XIV where they only need to create new clothes or a new model to put on the skeleton, Xrd engine has shaders that touch up each frame to get that anime style look to it. Like said, even if they have all the moves planned out for the character and all the voice lines recorded, the actual development cycle is about the same as creating an actual new character. Granted, Elphelt got some new costume in Rev despite doing NOTHING in the story other than being chained up and listening to the villain monologue every other scene, so maybe someone popular or waifu-baity enough could get one. DBZ doesn't have a lot of waifus though. 21 has two models, but she lacks the tail in her scientist getup, so they'd have to mess with things a lil' to make it work, and even then they'd need to get someone to shade her frames.

Fighterz edition comes with the season pass which includes the eight future DLC characters that are going to be released sometime later. Ultimate edition is that plus a pack of music from the anime and a commentator voice pack for match replays.

Regular Version - Game without anything. You can unlock Majin 21 via Story and SSB Vegeta aswell as SSB Goku either via ingame currency (300k/200k Zeni) or beat the hardest Arcade mode flawlessly

FighterZ Edition - Season Pass for 8 DLC characters that are going to get released throughout the year. You also get codes for SSB Vegeta/Goku for early unlock

Ultimate FighterZ Edition - Same as above but you get the Announcer Pack and Anime Music pack which release later in March

Note that all DLC will be available seperately afterwards though if you want everything the Ultimate FighterZ Edition is the way to go

25 completely unique fighters is way fucking better than 100+ who all play pretty much the same. Yeah it was cool that Tenkaichi 3 got nearly everyone on the roster but it's not nearly as fun when most of them are just the same reskinned moveset with generic beams and energy barrages.
