Skullgirls might have worked better had the game released with a roster of 20 or so, but to be honest I just think it was a tragic case of a game that was not meant to be. I have no real evidence behind it, but the most passionate fans I've seen have always been of the art style, not necessarily the game itself. Plus, Lab Zero seems to get fucked over nearly constantly by Sony for whatever reason.

Probably too late because people just don't really like the core of the game.it turned from huge combos to a reset-fest after some updates and people generally don't like neither.
The fact you could also personalize your assists with specific inputs was interesting but it only made the game harder.
In the end skullgirls was for people who are really into fighting games but said people already play other fighters that are more popular and not being part of EVO when injustice launched killed any chance of this game being relevant. Their business decisions were also incredibly shitty and for what i heard in here LabZero doesn't even own the IP.

Fighting games are making a comeback, for some reason. So I do think a well advertised Ultimate Edition with some new characters could make some good buck, people love the artstyle, it just had a bad launch because the game came out without fucking features (seriously what were they thinking) and 2nd Encore came when Fighters were dead.
Some tweaks to the combat system could make it one of the best fighters around too.

This game needed handicap. I have an issue with my friends who I play with in that a few players are vastly better than the others. Handicap would let them play at their best whilst everyone else could stand some chance.
That and the ability to name lobbies and have text chat in the lobby.
Also - when you have more than two people in a lobby (like 4 people) if one person doesn't ready in time then two people are forced to watch the other two people play rather than have two games simultaneously.

Filia isn't that fat in her actual design and her personality is incredibly boring because it just consists of the lame amnesia backstory and the generic "wanting to save everyone" attitude common in shonen. The only good part of her is Samson.

Then they ran into the issue where most of their "fans" liked the lore and characters and art style, but not the gameplay which was the kiss of death for the game. As someone who likes both anime fighters and tag fighters, the game was too difficult for me, I dropped and picked it up maybe 5 times over 3 years and couldn't get past the initial learning phase without frustration. I'd like to see a SG2, but it'll never happen.

Same here. i think i tried to get into the game 10 times or more.
Shit is just way too difficulty. It doesn't help that most people in my region. When i was in japan i really tried to get into the game but i think i lost at least 200 times in a row without learning a single thing. It is just way too much stuff to deal with. I also prefer 1 on 1 battles instead of fighting against teams.
If they make Skullgirls 2, this dress needs to be Parasoul's new costume
Yeah SG just had too many mechanics you HAD to learn and figure out. Low length combos didn't do enough so you had to learn your characters unique nonsense (example: Fillia's airdash cancelling). Not to mention ISP and dizzy were there to fuck up trying to learn. There were so many specific situations to figure out. MikeZ is a MvC2 and GGX fanboy and it fucking shows in skullgirls in all the worst ways to create a completely inaccessible fighting game.
