Just got a 1440p144hz monitor in. Impressions are as follows 144 really is smooth. The difference between 144 and 60 is noticeable, but not nearly as much as 30 to 60 or even 45 to 60. It's very odd in that it's not flashy and instantly mind blowing, but you can definitely notice it and it's a very good effect. At the same time, it's a bit weird to see because it literally looks like real life motion. It's very natural, and I'm quite certain this could become mainstream if it wasn't so expensive. In slow paced games the difference is just as, if not bigger, than in fast paced games. The slower movement in those is gorgeous at 144. But then, Dota, which was the most impressive difference, probably also got a lot better not just because of the framerate but because of the resolution. At 27 inches, this monitor is huge. It fills 2/3rds of my field of view, and looks fantastic at 1440. Games look great on it.
>tldr 144 is incredible. It's no RGB lighting. It's subtle but in an excellent way. 1440p is a fantastic step up. Between the two, I'd go with 1440. 60 was always enough for me, and I'm sure I wouldn't have minded had I not seen 144 before.

your eyes are retarded

100+ is good enough for me. My monitor is 1440p/165hz but the main difference comes from gsync. Variable refresh tech is as important as a good framerate
Sebastian Davis
Because I'm a poorfag, I live with 60hz, but I'm not complaining. My eyesight's been bad since childhood and my dynamic acuity is fucking shit.

>only 4 1440/144hz IPS gsync options >picks the most overpriced one with the worst bezel design and worst QC
Christopher Richardson
Out of curiosity OP. Have you actually gone into your graphic setting, or monitor settings to change the refresh rate to 144? IIRC they don't have it done by default on most monitors.
Matthew Parker
>with the worst bezel design Image being this fucking autistic about something which doesn't fucking matter for the practical application of the device
David Hughes
The real question is: when will gsync finally die?
John Morris
Its literally what causes its worst light bleed you fucking retard
Carter Rivera
>he didn't get the 165hz
LOL
Xavier Scott
that is the 165Hz one, you just have to OC it
Jeremiah Bennett
>using a refresh rate that isn't a multiple of 24

>tfw my monitor cost less and its better in every way
Alexander Young
I think mine has 165Hz on by default
Cameron Jones
might want to check in your monitor options to be sure, overclocking was turned off by default when I got mine a few months ago
Ian Myers
what's considered "affordable" if I want to get a 120hz monitor?
Leo Rodriguez
VG248 is pretty good, and you can find them used for cheaper, although you could probably get a chinkshit panel for pretty cheap as well
Jose Hill
you can get cheap Korean monitors that overclock. They're actually pretty good quality but the downside is obviously not having a guaranteed refresh rate
Anthony White
Yep, they're a meme. I bought my monitors off CDW since I was looking to bulk order 3 of them. Got decent performance without all the frills and shit that come with "gaming" monitors. Plus it's hard to find monitors with decent stands - most are too tall and too spread out like some LED TV stand. And many don't even have a VESA option. I actively avoid things tagged as "gamer."

What's the point of buying a new gaming monitor if the bitcoin jews have taken all the graphics cards?
Cooper Wilson
because I bought one for less than MSRP before the bitcoin jews got to them
James Lee
>there's still 1080s Our local microcenter literally has no cards
The highest end are like the fucking $20 cards that pretty much exist to give machines a graphical output
