About to start this for the first time, what dlc should I get? Or is vanilla the way to go?

About to start this for the first time, what dlc should I get? Or is vanilla the way to go?

get war of the chosen, so many improvements over vanilla, the smaller DLCs are all garbage

Have you beaten Enemy Unknown?

I recommend reading a short guide on base building before starting

Yes, but only on normal. Did do Ironman

Learned the hard way that melee attacks can miss, for fuck sake

I think the Season Pass DLCs got shit on infinitely to being bad. But what did they expect, Season Pass is a publisher's scam to pre-sell no-effort DLCs before they come out and prove themselves to have not been worth what you paid for them. War of the Chosen was an expansion which meant Firaxis had to actually put in work to get sales.

I liked enemy unknown but couldn't get into this one.

95% chance that you'll enjoy it

>95% chance
>miss

>be you
>experience retarded not-major rangers missing melee
>don't get bladestorm because it's "gay"
>swear off of the blade because it's "stupid"
>missing out on the most OP skillset ever
>inb4 drops a purifier behind you

>give rookie plasma rifle with superior scope/repeater/expanded ammo
>shoot sectopod because why the fuck not
>50% chance
>why the fuck not
>repeater triggers
>nothing personnel kid

Honestly, I'd play one round of vanilla + the first three DLC's, then start modding the shit out of it and getting WotC up in there so you can see the difference.

Get War of the Chosen it's Improve so much over the Base Game.

Do what this user said Vanilla is alright but I can't imagine playing it now that I have WotC. It's really fucking good.

>+ the first three DLC's
fuck no lmao they are trash

I like them

get the small dlcs and skip war of the chosen.
after your first few runs you probably want to try out longwar 2.
war for the chosen isnt really worth it if you like xcom. yeah it has lots of content but it doesnt feel like xcom. it just doesnt fit the game very well. plus many mods are incompatible with it including longwar 2.

>be reaper
>have banish
>have repeater
>*deletes sectopod*
>war for the chosen isnt really worth it if you like xcom. yeah it has lots of content but it doesnt feel like xcom.
>t. retard

Pay no heed to this man.

do the complete opposite of what this retard just said

t. xeno scum

>get resistance bonus that gives advent double agents
>people online say it sucks
>use it
>it gives you fucking lancers

The best part is that chosen events affect friendly advent too so I had bending reed all over the fucking place.

the chosen are retarded. Playing on Legendary and the only chosen that is challenging is the warlock because my guys are easily manipulated brainlets. I have to sacrifice one or two utility slots for flashbangs

> the only chosen that is challenging is the warlock
>what is mindshield

Is only assassin immune to flashbangs? I found it out the hard way, now I carry a frost bomb with me on every mission to lock them down. I assumed every chosen is immune to flashbangs.

THE ALIENS ARE MAKING PROGRESS ON THE AVATAR PROJECT

THE AVATAR PROJECT COMMANDER, LOOK! THE BAR IS GOING UP

>using mindshield at all
>taking up six (6) utility slots instead of two
>needing more than one flashbang to deal with a warlock
I mean if you're a faggot you can put a mindshield on your grenadiers or your specialist but all six?
It's random. I'm not sure how flashbangs would affect mind controlled units if the controller is immune to flashbang though. I sure fucking hope flashbang isn't affected

i recommend deleting this game right away and buy xenonauts instead

>t. ayy lmao

Is War of the Chosen worth it? It costs as much as the whole game at this point.
