The PS4 hit 14.4M sales by November 22, 2014, so if the Switch doesn't hit that by March 10, 2018, then it isn't outselling the PS4

When you see news like that, they usually mean in the US and / or Japan. Worldwide, nothing has topped PS4 in a loooooong time, because Europe and South America are Sony territories these days.

To further elaborate on my post, think of it this way.

The Xbox One sells well in the US.
The Switch sells well in the US, in Japan, and in two or three European countries.
The PS4 sells well in the US, in Asia (excluding Japan, where it fluctuates a lot between ok to well), in ALL of Europe, and in ALL of Central and South America.

A few things of note, from the perspective of someone with a PC/PS4/Switch
