So... Evo Japan just happened and no one gave a fuck.

What went wrong?

timezones

>caring about a tournament that supports smash games
seriously?

It doesn't really feel like the real EVO. Smaller scale and not as much of a spectacle as Murrican EVO. Also not enough streams, not in English at least. Personally I also like it when there's a more international presence even if more Japanese players usually means higher level of play overall.

Doesn't it still have another day or no? I know some games ended like BB. Also it's at an inconvenient time for a lot of Sup Forums to watch. Also Cup Noodles

Just accept your genre is going the way of arcade racers, on rails shooters and flight simulators.

They are more popular than ever though. Look at DBFZ.

>Living under a rock
It's like you completely glossed over DBFZ

Next you're going to tell me arcade racers are doing well thanks to Mario Kart.

>supports smash games
>didn't even feature the best Smash game
Yawn

The retards in Japan didn't have enough side tournament streams even tho there were a shitton of side tournaments.

Some fifteen years ago fighting game fans would scorn it the same way they scorn Smash user. The fact it's considered a fighting game is a sick joke and proof the genre is dying to the point they feel the need to embrance whatever comes their way.

Except DBFZ is a fighting game though. The mere fact you think that gameplay depth suffers just because of simplified notations exposes your lack of knowledge on fighting games as a whole.

DBFZ is literally MvC3. You are wrong.

Fifteen years ago it would be considered as a god send, mainly because all you had was MvC2, SFIII and Tekken.

>Anime game
>Real figting game
Sure buddy

>being a capkuk in the year 2018
lmao

Melee is only relevant in the west, why would they make a tournament in Japan for it?

To generate some interest in the tournament? OP complained that no one cared. Maybe there would be more interest if they invited some Western players for Melee.

Mario Kart is a racing game though I don't see your point.

I'm more worried about AE having literally no impact more than anything else. It was supposed to save the game and it hasn't changed anything.

Capcom had 2 years prior to do that and only did so now. Along with the combined efforts of Bamco and Arc System Works' effort to steal the overall fighting game playerbase in the West, unless Capcom does something drastic, they're going stagnant

Nothing went wrong, it was just a more comfy version of the american one (hell it looks like it took place in a DMV). No big announcements cause this was also a test of the idea. Bad if you expected big announcements and dont like Nissan Noodles, but fine everywhere else.
