I'm planning on buying a portable, which is the best one Sup Forums? Give pros and cons

3ds since it has the most games. Switch will be way better but in like 5 years

>which is the best
Look at the games list, see which has the best library for you and buy that.
3ds can be hacked easily so free games, plus buying used will probably be cheap as fuck these days

Vita is not even an option, this is between the Switch and the 3DS

The 3DS is a hand cramper, and the games are kind of low budget. Plus the graphics suck.
The Vita is a dead, failed system. Go with the Switch.

Get the switch. It's basically the 3ds + vita + home console rolled into one and will be futureproof with more games coming

Yeah except smaller libary. The 3ds is objectively the wiser choice since he can play games now.

The switch is slowly getting the vita games

>tfw no MH3U on the Switch

My 3DS died last year after playing it for 6 months with a cracked upper screen.

Vita because it’s for actual adult gamers and not a garbage baby toy for nintenbros.

I want to know which is the best overall
>battery life
>games library
>comfyness
>price
I know both the 3ds and ps vita can be hacked
Which one is the best taking in account that those 2 can be hacked?

The Switch has HUNDREDS of games. Not only does it have two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, it also has home console titles like Skyrim and DOOM which are now portable and masses of indie gems and exclusives.

If you want the best get a switch, if you're poor, get a 3DS

why would you want a portable

Buy a 3DS if you haven't experienced the full DS library. All DS games are backwards compatible, and the DS is the best handheld of all time.

Hacked 3ds with flashcart for ds games is goat.
You can play 3ds, ds games, emulate nes/snes/gba etc.

ikr? Why would anyone want walkmen, smart fones and laptops? It's almost like the human race is headed down a path where we want technology to be convenient and flexible to compliment our lifestyles. It'll never catch on.

Hundreds????????

Yup, last time I checked the Switch has over 600 titles available.

Most of that is indie shite but many of those indie games shine on Switch.

>mature games for mature gamers such as myself

An incomplete list, but:

>Switch

Pros:

- Will actually get future support
- Strong library
- Easy TV out for playing on bigger screens
- Hacking community moving very quickly
- Region free

Cons:

- Most expensive games
- Expensive peripherals
- Least portable
- Screen is easiest of 3 to damage
- Smallest current library

>3DS

- Strong, large library
- Cheapest option of lot
- DS playback
- Is almost as easy to hack as PSP, all FW is hackable
- Freeshop
- Native GBA chipset for perfect playback of ROMs
- All variants other than O2DS have pocketable form factor
- Custom themes

Cons:

- Archaic hardware
- Only one / one full-sized circle pad without CPP
- No account system a la Wii
- Region locked if unhacked
- Later-life games chug noticeably if playing on O3DS/O2DS
- Support dying off

>Vita

Pros:

- Region free
- Two analogue sticks
- Henkaku
- PKGI
- Remote Play
- PSP emu be hacked relatively easily to play any PS1/PSP game
- Custom wallpapers
- Great graphics, especially for 1000 series

Cons:

- Form factor doesn't protect screen
- Overpriced proprietary memory cards
- Support deader than dead outside indie games
- Hacking scene moribund, stalled at FW 3.60
- No hardware-based backwards compatibility
- Native library is thin outside of weeb+indie games

Vita support isn't dead you retard
It's getting tons apon tons of japanese games

>battery life
n3DS XL: 6hs
Vita 2K: 5hs
Vita 1K: 4hs
Switch: 3hs

>games library
n3DS XL: SNES, NES, GBA, GBC, DS, 3DS
Vita: SNES, NES, GBA, GBC, PS1, PSP, Vita
Switch: LEL

>comfyness
Vita > n3DS XL > Switch

>price
n3DS XL > Vita > Switch

Switch would be perfect if you could play 3ds games on it tbqh

>Screen is easiest of 3 to damage

You can get a gorilla glass for 10 bucks. It's basically a non issue.
I didn't even use a screen protector for the first 6 months, and not a single scratch

Vita is beyond dead user.

All the games it was getting are going to the ps4 and switch

Whats the worst that can happen to a switch if i leave it on docked charging all day?

>3 multiplats from atlus
In the case the 3DS is alive and well considering it has 4 exclusives coming, also from atlus

Long term battery degradation like any other device when constantly charged. Doing it for a single day won’t end the world. Doing it repeatedly for several years might kill your battery life.

The worst could be battery leakage.

Battery technology as well as charging circuitry isn't the same as it was in the early 2000s. Leaving it "on the charger" (i.e. docked) all day is not detrimental to battery life in any way shape or form.

Nothing, because battery technology has improved in the last few years. I use it in portable around 40% of the time. But my friend hasn't taken his out of the dock in like 5 months. Still working perfectly

3DS if you actually want something that is both fun and actually portable. Vita is long dead. Switch is great, but I wouldn't be caught dead playing it in public and you can't really put it in a pocket quick and easy like a 3DS. Honestly, I just want Nintendo to release a new Game Boy that fits in any pocket. Hell, make an original Game Boy thin as a smartphone, but with physical buttons and a new HD display. It's not fucking rocket science Nintendo. Plus, if it looks like a smartphone it's not a problem to play in public without looking like a sperg.

>Vita
Easily the most comfortable and ergonomic of the three, good battery life, good build quality, good portability, but it has a lackluster library and no first party support. Not bad if you don't have a PS3/PS4 though, and it has PSP and PS1 games.

>3DS
By far the best library of the three and good portability and durability. Can't really go wrong with this.

>Switch
Library is shaping up to be very good, has a good-looking future ahead. Pretty big for a handheld though and it isn't as comfortable for long play sessions.

I'll post recommended charts for both the 3DS & Vita for you, not sure if a Switch one exists yet.

...

Switch. It's new and just getting started with a solid lineup of games and ports already. It's also not region locked like the 3ds is.

Don't know about the Switch since I don't have one but:

3DS:
>Pros
Nintendo's first party games
Some notable exclusives like the MH games
More compact and portable than the Vita
Doesn't have proprietary memory formats like the Vita
Can play DS games
Very easy to hack and fully open to piracy
>Cons
Region locked
Virtually useless if you're not interested in Nintendo's games or casual JRPGs/MH
Horrible, cheap hardware that was overpriced from day one and still is
Not really that better compared to a PSP when it comes to emulation
No sales ever
Vita:
>Pros
Bigger, more varied library than the 3DS
Can play both PSP and PS1 games with no hacks needed
Great hardware with one of the best D-Pad ever made and twin analog sticks instead of a single nub
Some cross buy games shared with PS4
Remote play with PS4, and PC if you hack it.
Good sales on PSN
A lot of franchise are almost entirely available on it or have a huge number of entries available on it
>Cons
No first party games since 2014 if you care about that
Overpriced proprietary memory sticks
Virtually useless if you don't like niche genres/franchises or having games you can play elsewhere on the go since many ports aren't really good or some notable games have been ported to PC/PS4
Remote Play isn't really all that good by today's standards, and it wasn't really that good back then to be frank.
Hacking/Homebrew scene is a joke and you can't even pirate anything from 3.60 onwards

I warmly suggest you to not listen to those who praise the 3DS' library and complain about the Vita's, the 3DS is wildly overrated in general, but see for yourself.
Both consoles benefit a lot from knowing moonrunes, the Vita arguably more than the 3DS, also, when it comes those rare shared games between the two the Vita version is always better, see the differences between 3DS and Vita Terraria or the 999 games.

>all these Switch shills saying the Switch is a better than the Vita and 3DS as a portable device

Its WAY bigger, has less battery life, shittier library and its more expensive.
Only an autistic idiot would unironically say its better than Vita and 3DS as a handheld.

>switch
The only system selling game is odyssey
>vita
Less games then 3ds
>3ds
Massive game library but system is almost dead

Need to update since detective pikachu is getting a localisation

WHIRRRRRRRRRR

Why do you feel the need to play video games on the go?

The games it plays are not shit kiddie games like 3ds. Also look better than Vita.

Which Monster Hunter should I get, 4 Ultimate or Generations?

>The games it plays are not shit kiddie games like 3ds.
>Splatoon 2
>Odyssey
>Not shit kiddie games
4U

>The games it plays are not shit kiddie games like 3ds.

LMAO
Nintendo games are purely kiddie shit man, dont lie to yourself.

Bing bing wahoo, that Mario and Rabbids is aweome.

You pretty much couldn't have picked a worse time to be in the market for a handheld
You'd know if you wanted a Vita already.
3DS has a full library but holding it is ass, the inputs are shit, the screen is awful, it was outdated as hell when it hit in 2010ish and it's even more glaringly so now.
Switch has a lot of promise outside of lacking a fucking DPAD. But a lot of that promise is ages away, likely to be skipping 2018 almost entirely.

You're fucked no matter what you pick OP. Idort is the only winning move in the 8th gen.

Both 3U and 4U are great.

3U has the underwater combat downside. 4U has the vertical combat and mounting downside.

Overall, 4U is better, but 3U would top it if it wasnt for the underwater combat.

Thanks I'll prob get 4U then, haven't played a MH since FU2 on PSP(Vita).
Is there a reason nobody likes to recommend Generations?

Doesnt have G Rank.
Art Styles make the game too easy.
Graphics are overall downgraded (specially backgrounds) to make room for particle effects.
New monsters are cool, but unchallenging.

Its not a bad game, but I´d put it under p3rd, 3U and 4U.

thanks for the info user.

The nintendo fan is one caught in perpetual childhood. those same simple symbols of cartoony adventure with their caricaturized proportions, expressions and movements eagerly anticipated year after year, generation after generation. The unchanging symbols and their fans are punctuated by the irony of an adult clinging to their youth by roleplaying as a character that never seems to grow, and never faces a new challenge save for rescuing peach in a new generation of console and for a different (see-increased) sticker price. As the backlight fades from the gaming tablet, perhaps these young adults will notice-despite the best efforts of denial, projection, and neglect-the face reflected in the black mirror. Patched with sporadic instances of the hair denoting manhood, the visage will elicit the emotion and expression everyone else has had: disgust

>decide to hack my new 3ds cause i haven't played it in months
>can't get the fucking back cover off to access the sd card slot
nintenkiddies... you live like this?

With a screwdriver in my house? Yes.
