>he picks sword over shield
mind those edges
>he picks sword over shield
mind those edges
>shield
>ever
Only brainlets pick anything over Staff.
>pick sword
>drop shield
Glass cannon is the only way to play, also Expert+slow EXP curve.
this. even with shield you'll get destroyed pretty fast anyway if your not dodging or blocking
COME
GUARDIAN
You can max out your Strength without picking the sword, though. The absolute most powerful way to play is to pick the shield and drop the sword, and max your strength with items.
>Kh2FM level 1 critical mode
Why is this so fucking hard? I thought this was a kid's game
I picked staff because I wanted to be a wizard
>Goofy has a shield
>Donald has a staff
YOU MUST TAKE SWORD
SUBMIT
Why was his normal form so much harder than his final form? People say that dodging his lasers is hard but all you fucking do is fly in circles to avoid them.
Pick up Staff and drop Sword. Also Dawn, all you need by endgame is to be at level 40.
Who cares about maxing stats? The whole point of being a glass cannon is to dish out a ton of damage and take a ton of damage, its more fun that way.
I still hold it to this day that Donald's only apparent AI strings were to just to never do anything you ask and to piss you off in general.
KH1 is the best game
>magicretards
Pick up sword, drop staff, mash X to win
I never liked mages so I didn't consider the staff. I wanted to go sword but the whole destruction thing gave me a negative connotation of it so I chose shield instead.
staff tho.
It's everything you'd ever want.
>The absolute most powerful way to play is to pick the shield and drop the sword, and max your strength with items.
Dude, the extra defense can be gotten with items, the absolute best choice is staff since there is no replacing those two extra MP. Get your facts straight before talking.
Nah, sword all the way.
Objective Best Choices here:
>1. Staff
+2 extra, exclusive MP
>2. Shield
+2 extra item slots
>3. Sword
+1 item slot
There's never a reason to pick a sword, and carrying two extra elixirs is pretty pointless with how much the extra MP empowers your magic.
KH1 1.5 is better, you just have to ignore Leaf Bracer.
So Sup Forums, which Organization XIII member is the best?
Demyx, obviously. Luxord has a cool gimmick, but he's kind of a fag.
wait, what? these choices actually matter in the game? i just always chose staff
IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE
...
Anyone have the min/max chart. This choice was surprisingly in-depth
I don't fucking understand this thread at all. What's all this shit about "dropping"? What's this about item slots? I haven't played KH2 in years.
It's not much of a choice when staff is obviously better, so don't worry about it.
I literally can't comprehend why anyone would want sword. What the fuck is the benefit? Some fucking combo pluses that bosses will just break out of? Some mediocre finisher that you don't even get that much earlier than the other 2 weapons. That's what you choose over MP rage/Second chance/Leaf bracer/MP haste/etc.?
And >needing second chance/MP rage isn't an argument.
In the first one you choose a weapon and then you need to drop onem
Staff is actually the best.
This is about KH1, though.
There's not that much pressure in min maxing when you can fix your stats late game through synthesis.
Only KH1 asks you to choose one weapon and discard another.
KH2 gives you a foam bat for a small stat bonus, and lets you choose another weapon which determines abilities
...
...
It's true, in KH2 you pick two weapons instead. Wasn't the struggle bat like a super minor boost, though?
>recently learned that your stats soft cap at around 80 or something
>spent dozens of hours as a kid grinding attack/defense ups to get to 100
What is shittier game design than this?
Holy shit, really? I had no idea the choice of weapon affected anything more than like a minor stat point change.
That feel when choosing Staff is undeniably the best, but Sword gives you the most fun skills early.
Is magic/MP any good in this game? The most I ever used was casting Cure so I can live long enough to mash the melee button some more
You can't tell me +Staff -Shield isn't the best choice.
>Dude, the extra defense can be gotten with items,
iirc, picking shield gives you an extra item slot. I always thought items were for cucks though
You seriously never noticed that you got the abilities in a different order?
it's good on the under water world, and more magic makes your summons better.
>The whole point of being a glass cannon
>take a ton of damage
>Getting hit in KH
You just abuse invincibility frames
Nope. Are they all the same abilities?
They affect your stat gains and when you learn certain abilities.
For example, if you pick shield you get second chance as early as LV 15 or so, but if you were to pick sword you'd get it at LV 70 or so.
Defensive magic is only really good in KH1. Offensive magic is usually useless against bosses bar exploits like stop/gravity spam. More MP makes aero last longer though, and magic can be really good against hordes. Most people don't make builds around hordes though.
KH2 offensive magic is better against bosses and has good aoe, but you're going to want to save all MP for reflect anyways.
Basically, defensive magic is awesome and shouldn't be underestimated, but melee will always be king against bosses
Its called a 'glass' cannon for a reason user.
>it's better if you ignore all the things that make it worse
This is true of literally any two things you can compare.
It gives you an extra item slot over sword, which it itself gives you an extra one. You get two more item slots than if you got staff.
Oh boy, is the magic good. It's fucking amazing. Thundaga clears rooms like it's nobody's business, Aeroga absolutely destroys everything while leaving you taking pisspoor damage, Blizzaga is an excellent shotgun attack and Firaga is simply a fun shooting spell.
It's amazing and much better than mashing attack.
That's not what a glass cannon means, user. Glass meaning fragile. Dish out damage but if you take any you're fucked.
Yeah, there's no exclusive abilities, but the order is changed.
Yeah, no matte what you will eventually get all abilities, the only lost forever things are some extra stats end game and the order you learn them.
I know Sup Forums likes to act like they love their critical glass cannon runs, but fighting the super bosses without second chance is fucking stupid
>all the things
>one inbalanced skill
Quality argument, user.
>but if you take any you're fucked.
>and take a ton of damage
Same shit different words, user.
you don't know what a glass cannon is
That's wrong desu
Kingdom Hearts 1 : Weapon choice affects what level you obtain new skills and your stat/item slots. For a min/max "optimal" build you would pick Shield and give up the Sword as you can make up for lost stats with items but the extra item slot and MP cannot be obtained any other way.
Kingdom Hearts 2 : Weapon choice at the beginning with Roxas gives you +1 in whatever weapon you choose; strength for sword, defense for shield, magic for staff. Your second weapon choice determines what level you get what abilities.
It's a lot more significant of a choice in KH1
I can't keep arguing because I have to be at work in 20 minutes, but a glass cannon deals a ton of damage and takes a ton of damage, glass cannons don't tank, they are fragile, hence the word "glass" but they deal a ton of dmage, hence the word "cannon".
user.
Finally, someone gets it. Second highest starting attack possible, highest starting ap possible, and no points in that useless fucking defense stat. Who cares if +shield/-sword has the highest starting total? It still reeks because it wastes most of your stats on defense. The game has tons of defensive options, so just use them and you won't get hit anyway. They even let you practice your parries on Wakka in the tutorial level. Also, in this game, the difference between having 2 mp and 3 mp is huge. I love minimalism like that. Fuck those games that fake big numbers to make you feel stronger.
"This chocolate ice cream with shit pieces in it is just as good as this chocolate ice cream without them if you just ignore the shit pieces."
A food and shit analogy. Amazing.
You're argument is good.
>For a min/max "optimal" build you would pick Shield
Why, though, seriously? Why? Explain to me why would you pick shield over staff when minmaxing.
>glass cannon
>and take a ton of damage
>glass cannon
>and take a ton of damage
>glass cannon
>and take a ton of damage
Who else picked shield and dropped staff?
I understand you're probably not a native English speaker. "take a ton of damage" implies they can take it and soak it up, implying tank. Glass cannons can take very little damage.
You also have to ignore all the extra heartless that are required for Synthesis recipes now.
Sniperwilds can fuck off, they're so boring and annoying to deal with. Same with Invisible Soldiers, just spamming stop and whacking them.
He meant as in recieving a lot of damage from attacks, not tanking a lot of damage.
It's because you're saying they take a lot of damage. They don't take a lot of damage, they take a small amount of damage before they die.
I think I understand you, but when you say "they take a ton of damage" it makes it sound like they have lots of HP and defense to withstand a ton of damage.
I'm guessing that's the confusion
>this thread in charge of understanding what that user meant
Holy shit better have 5000 people respond with "UH GLASS DON'T TAKE DAMAGE"
I picked the staff. Eat shit.
The extra bosses, binding limits to triangle, extra skills and Joystick camera along with making Sora transparent when too close are good enough to make up for it, in my opinion.
English is my only language, I am illiterate in anything else.
They take a ton of damage as in 5456 damage instead of 345 damage, big numbers, not small.
But that means that you CAN'T take a lot of damage.
KH1 (base) > KH2FM > BBSFM HD > DDD HD > RE:COM > 358/2 DAYS > RE:CODED
"This chocolate ice cream may have peanut butter cups and waffle cone bits in it but there's a single fucking almond so it's ruined"
I'll take the one with Proud Mode, skippable cutscenes, Xenmas boss fight, rare enemies, half a dozen new combo finishers and Encounter Plus, thanks.
God you're fucking stupid. That doesn't mean what you think it means.
But the thing is my argument is good if you ignore the analogy you thought made it bad.
He worded it poorly, sure, but that's what he meant. The concept of glass cannon is crystal clear, you don't just get it wrong like that.
Haley is such a sweetheart. I look forward to his performance in KH3. I can tell he's been looking forward to it.
It's not ok to be wrong on Sup Forums. Rule fucking one.
actually, on proud mode the objective best is shield then magic since you learn the best defensive abilities early and don't get destroyed by bosses
Are you autistic?
Your argument is "but that one thing is so bad you have to ignore it to make the game be better than the original". It's a shitty argument without the food analogy.
>glass cannon
>crystal clear
CARLOS!
Are you seriously arguing KH1 vanilla is better because it lacks an optional ability you don't have to equip?
Thank you to user who shared this with me already helping
You get I believe 2 extra item slots if you pick shield and with end game best in slot items you can stack MP or STR items to blow past whatever bonuses the sword or staff would have given you. I believe you also get an additional item to use in combat like elixir, etc, for even stronger in combat capabilities.
I might be off on the numbers but the gist is in the long run shield is the objective strongest option, especially in the beginning you get guard and other defensive oriented abilities first.
Magic sounds fun and looks neat for sure, but I could never work around the MP system that gives me like, a handful of casts per battle at most. Can you ever make a build where you regen magic faster than you can spend it, or at least fast enough so that you can use mostly magic all battle?
Nope, just correct.
Keep posting, user. I'm sure it'll be worthwhile.
>KH1 (base)
What's wrong with the other versions?
>Re:CoM instead of CoM
I hope you're not implying you didn't play it.
Shields are for fags and soyboys.
I kinda get what he means. You don't have to equip it, but it's still right there, and it's a good ability, so you'd have to be stupid to not equip it or else you're just handicapping yourself on purpose.
KH1FM is just a shit version of the original game, it changes shit for no reason
Staff everytime
Then equip it. If not having it equipped in FM is handicapping then not having it at all in vanilla is also handicapped comparatively. Unless he thinks it breaks the game and he has no self contol to not abuse it
