Comfy and atmospheric game. Go play it.
Cock fights.
Good game. Then depression because there will never be a sequel.
7/10
there's legit an autist on Sup Forums dedicating his time pretending it's a GTA killer and all
Pork buns.
Incredible game. Enjoy it slowly.
i know that feel
Probably the most fun GTA-like game I've ever played, and that includes GTA games. I loved it.
Sequel never.
A MAN WHO EVER EATS PORK BUNS
Drops hard about 1/3 into the game. But great beginning
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
BINGO
A really good games that attracts a serial shitposting Yakuza fan to it's threads.
Shit game that tried to combine yakuza and GTA and is worse than both.
It's good. 8/10 at the least. Sleeping Dogs is one of those games I played, ragequit early on over something stupid then when I picked it up again I couldn't put it down until I beat the entire thing.
The poor man's (aka pcfriends, xbros) version of Yakuza. The whole time you'll be wishing you were playing Yakuza instead, realize PC will never get those games, then get a PS4 and never look back to western PC games.
If you can't afford a visit to Hong Kong, then this is the next best thing, imo.
Pretty good rain effects for its time
It rains all the fucking time, Like really it rains 50% of the time.
>Being so new that you don't know posting quotable lines from games in all caps is a Sup Forums wide thing
lmao go ahead and kill yourself pretendo
>quotable line
to a genuine autist like you
At least Yakuza had sequels...
if you bought the definitive edition YO UFUCKED UP
Fucking Dogeyes...
Why? I was about to buy the game as well, what's wrong with the definitive edition?
They are very different games. Yakuza is much cheesier, with over the top fighting moves and general japanese weirdness. Sleeping dogs is more like realistic a crime drama.
>Sequels like Yakuza or Asscreed has
>An endorsement
Shit like that is the vidya equivalent of anime's and manga's that ruin until the money stops.
Yakuza is Sega's biggest cash cow and Sony funds a large portion of their development.
there is nothing fucking wrong with it.
I was hoping for something that had more of a martial arts, Bruce Lee movie kind of feel but the Hong Kong of Sleeping dogs looks more like any modern city would look, and martial arts is only one part of combat. I'm not saying it's bad because of this, I should have realized that Hong Kong wouldn't be stuck in the 70's or something, it was just weird to see parts of that city that look like areas of the American city in which I live. Sleeping Dogs is more like a modern crime drama than a martial arts story.

More physics and fog in exchange for worse shading, lighting, textures, effects like the neon signs actually glowing properly, etc.
A slight graphical downgrade, but it makes up for it by not giving you DLC content that ruins the fuck out of progression right away like the original version did.
Yakuza is what would happen if you took out car jacking and weapons and instead put in bamham combat with QTEs and dead risings environmental weapons.
What does Sleeping Dogs standard give you besides a pretty good smart car?
they fucked up the graphics and performance
youtube.com
youtube.com
yeah... takin out all the neon out of HK and adding a shitload of fog at night, NO PROBLEM
the storyline in this game is so fucking bad though, well the writing anyway, like jackie chan movie but without the funny parts, I guess cheesy would be the word to describe it, but again not funny cheesy but awkard scenes and writing type of cheesy
It's more like a John Woo film then a Bruce Lee film and I think this was intentional
Oh it's this fag again.
Fuck off retard. The Sleeping Dogs definitive edition is almost on par with that infamous Silent Hill remake.
Have you been to Hong Kong?
That's not fog. That's smog from all the pollution.
Will it run on my toaster?
neither versio is a graphical masterpiece so who cares about the differences, also bloom doesn't equal better even if it looks more shiny
>
>it's like a jackie chan movie
What the fuck are you guys smoking?
Regardless of your semantics autism it still butchers the aesthetic of a game with very good aesthetic.
Sleeping Dogs had a top tier aesthetic and a lot of other 7th gen games haven't aged nearly as gracefully. Fuck off retard.
Exp that lets you buy all the skills right away. Expensive cars and clothing you shouldn't have access to in the beginning since it clashes with the story.
I bought the standard edition way back when and had none of that besides a souped up smart car.
It's the only version you can buy now.
>Sleeping Dogs had a top tier aesthetic and a lot of other 7th gen games haven't aged nearly as gracefully. Fuck off retard.
oh I recognize you, kill yourself
It's the only game I replay every year. One of my favorites. Fuck, now I want to replay it again.
Just torrent the original for free. The devs went under anyway you're only giving cash to squeenix and possibly the team that fucked the port up.
Maybe you didn't have all the DLC. I pirated it back in the day and had to manually delete all the cheating stuff from the package.
the environmental takedowns are so good, batman arkham knight stole them from this game which stole the batman arkham asylum combat
What a compelling argument you've brought before the thread,
Fuck off, retard.
>pretty solidly put together Arkham-em-up combat
>pork buns
>decent cast
There are some noticeable issues. A lot of side activities are extremely half-baked, like the "dating sidequests" which are basically one mission and then the dialogue talks like it was a whole developed dating sim or side story.
The game's latter half is very obviously rushed with similar issues. There will be dialogue alluding to stuff that you never experienced(e.g. cut missions) but that the game treats like the MC went through it during some of the vaguely defined timeskips. The climax is rushed as all hell too.
All in all, it's another victim of the AAA publisher complex. Square-Enix buys True Crime from Activision, runs it through enough focus testing to turn it into its own thing and what they came up with was pretty great, but they were either too ambitious or too rushed and undersupported to make the game they really wanted. Then they try to make some online pseudo-MMO bullshit and that fell through so the IP is basically dead. Shame, since Rockstar's basically now just doing their online shark card selling simulators now and single player GTA/RDR doesn't invite much optimism.
This isn't stealing if it was borrowed from their game to begin with.
I beat it 100% for the 360 and Xbone. Honestly considering importing a Japanese or German copy to do it again,
did AA/AC have environmental takedowns? I honestly don't remember. I thought it was a new thing in AK
you're that sperg who is genuinely insecure about this game , I said nothing about this game being ugly but said that neither version is a graphical masterpiece you genuine downie
if someone pokes at ANY flaw this game has you will be there and twist what was being said and construct your empty claims around that
There's something I really like about this game, even though it's very derivative. It's a very standard sort of open world game populated with dozens of very similar checklist activities, a very standard combat system, and pretty average driving.
But man, there's something about the game. It's got a weird sort of attitude and style that seems to lightly gloss over a pretty average game. It's hard to put my finger on, but there is something that makes me like this game a lot more than most ho-hum open world games.
>This game isn't great looking
>It's pretty nice looking user
>I FUCKING RECOGNIZE YOU
Ahahahahahaha
>those foggy walks through downtown Hong Kong
You can practically feel the humidity and smell the pollution over the weird food stands that supposedly sell food.
It's a great game though, minus the gunplay. Driving on the left side of the road takes some getting used to, though.
>He didn't like chaining headshots together and clearing entire rooms in one slowmo charge
nigga
again twisting shit because you can't amount to anything, you rely on making shit up
jumping across cover, sliding over it in slo mo and capping dudes heads is one of the best feels in TPS
>I didn't suggest the game was ugly I just said the game didn't look nice and preserving the aesthetic didn't matter as a result
the animation systems in this look like from a PS2 game and the car physics are funky as fuck
>inb4 that autist going muh drifting or whatever he always writes
go ahead and die
Everything but the hand to hand combat is garbage
...
>Postercount remains the same
Lol
you're free to like the visuals however the graphics aren't any state of the art shit and there's huge drop in asset detail as soon as you go to any ally
why should that have been my first post in the thread?
...
Making my way Downtown with my Bitch she's Gonna Make me a Sandwich
Fellow pcbros, standard game or definitive edition?
the cheaper
Definitive is more polished.
Standard no contest
There isn't a single benefit to definitive edition and if you buy it you're giving money to the people who killed United Front and the devs that fucked up the port of their game.
>So many NPCs crammed into streets that walking becomes a problem
>More polished
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Better than flocks of identical twin NPCs in the original.
Surprisingly satisfying combat and shooting
I for one hated the combat, felt like some sort of quicktime thing, as for shooting, can't remember shooting even being a thing in the game
One is cosmetic deep while the other is an issue that bleeds over into gameplay.
Sun on yee motherfucker!
>IT TAKES GUTS TO WEAR THAT!
What did he mean by that?
sperg
They only say it after you buy clothes that required a higher level of whatever their streetcred meter was called to wear.
