Let's have a survey: Every game including remakes should have a optional MU
Y/N?
Those are some nice armpits
>optional
Fine, but it would still feel out of place in remakes. I wouldn't care that much as long as the game ignores them story wise though (in remakes).
I don't particularly care about the waifu epidemic but I can't see how a self-insert character would work in FE10.
No, self inserts are cancer, just like the retards that want them.
No way. If every protagonist had to be an inoffensive self-insert bitch like Corrin , we never would have gotten characters like Ephraim or Hector.
You are now Pelleas
>playing 3-1 on HM
>Boyd gets double critted on the first turn
Fuck, also does it matter if Lethe and Lyre die, or will that be permanent too?
He would be a villager living in Daein who joins the Dawn Brigade.
Corrin is the only MU that was actual protagonist though. The two other games with MUs had a lord separate from them (Marth, Chrom).
Well, although it's true in both of those cases the MU does end up getting a bit too much spotlight at points - Kris by being the only character that can support everyone in a game where most characters only have at best two supports, and Robin because he kind of takes over the plot in the last third of the game.
But what would happen when the point of view changes to the other armies? Would he travel around and just happen to be passing by in the beginning of the Crimea Rebellion and Laguz counter attack? It could end up really goofy plotwise.
But there are several sides to the conflict, how can you have a self-insert that's forced into one side?
If they die they can still be used later.
Imagine having one for FE4.
idk man it was just a joke, I picked the shittiest male character I could think of
As for that, they'd either split it up into multiple MUs that merge in some bullshit plot twist, or simply give them the power to teleport (e.g. Warp Powder).
The MU is DB only. When it switches sides you aren't playable like the other armies.
Yes and romance, although at this point I would prefer it if they just started a sub series focusing on waifus with minimal everything else since that's all that's saving this series
I'd be fine with this if only to make the DB sections less shitty
BUT, they'd still have to fix availability because likely everyone in DB will be underleveled by endgame and the MU has to be able to A-S Support everyone to match the 3DS games' MU standards, which couldn't happen with Nasir, Gareth, or Lehran you get BK to not die if you marry him
Also they'd have to actually write supports for fe10, so definitely not happening
The Dawn brigade sections were the best part.
Once Ike and co arrive the game just becomes a power fantasy where the Mercanaries are just invincible.
This, divide cancer and actual games.
The DB sections are some of the best in the game though, regardless of some cast members. 3-13, once one of the most famous maps in the series, was a DB chapter. Elincia's chapters are snapped in half by Haar and the Greil Mercenaries are just too good.
>we never would have gotten characters like Ephraim
I remember when everyone hated Ephraim and called him a Stu, what happened?
All the well liked lords are just the lords of easy games where they have no chance of dying.
Those people can't actually play FE6 for example on hard mode without complaining about balance.
True, that's why everybody likes Ike, Ephraim, Hector
FE6 is unbalance though. The gap between the good units and bad units is substantially high on HM.
I wanna lick those armpits

Best FE8 girl
Marcus is 100% right
...
no buddy
something something stupider more cute . jpg
You can self insert into any character.
Eirika is not stupid! She is my perfect angel.
t. Ephraim
it sure as hell wouldn't work for FE4 because either
>MC fucking dies
>MC breaks cannon by fucking Deirdre or Ethlyn
>fucktons of controversy spawned by being able to fuck your fallen allies' children
No I'm user. Incest memes are dumb.
>Gives the Renais sacred stone to possessed Lyon
Ephraim's route is way better just because of that cutscene
I think most games FE games should have one
They did say in a interview that MU's are a staple of the series now. so rip anyone who wants them gone
They even wanted to put an MU in SoV
Why do people want to self insert?
>says she's cute
>call him her brother
>WHAT THE FUCK WHY ARE YOU BRINGING INCEST MEMES
Jeez who could it be, no one mentioned incest but you here pal
Best FE girl¨*
>Every remake
No, the only case where I think a playable MU would be appropriate is Blazing Blade, and that's only because the game already had one as a NPC.
yes.
just treat them as regular units instead of shoehorning them.
Feel more involved in the narrative.
Y, but only if they're not Mary Sue self-inserts. Make them as important to the plot as Soren, for example
If they do remake that game they better make that fucker playable.
For me its for waifu reasons
Please tell me this is a joke I couldn't care less about the story in fates and to a lesser extent awakening.
This, I like the idea of a customizable unit, but they don't need to be a special snowflake.
>Not wanting to have a fem MU in FE 4 remake to marry based Arden
Echoes didn't have a shitty self-insert and it was fine.
This, people will self insert into literally anything. The thing is Echoes had canon couples and what would be considered a "self insert" denied a really cute girl
the only snowflake trait that i would tolerate would be having S supports with everyone.
It's not just entirely related to FE. Having your own custom character makes you feel more involved in the story because you're a part of it. Mainly for FE its so you can marry cute girls and finally have some actual RPG elements.
Same reason people play Persona games. Makes them feel important and they get to date 2D grills
Fine, just make the self-insert Illyana and cut Part 2 from the game entirely
B-but Elincia's Gambit is my favorite map in the series.
>have some actual RPG elements.
But you don't actually RP. Kris, Robin, & Chrom all have preset define personalities and responses.
Help motivate me to buy this shit. Starter decks are cheap as hell, but it's fucking TMS.
Fuck no. MUs are pure cancer and make their games worse.
How much is it I want one.
no you don't
I want to grope Lady lel's lels!
1160円 on AmiAmi.com, around ~$10.66. I own all of the other decks, but it's fucking TMS.
No I really dont want that
DBs can powerlevel thorugh subhumans if you know what you're doing
You get all the -Foe skills through them and can hit third tier with one or two units by the siege chapter
They're my favorite since you get to take out the much superior Greil Mercs
do not lewd the maiden of dawn
Good tastes my dude
On the gameplay side of things. Kris, Robin and Kamui can be customize in mutiple ways via how they look, class and reclass options, skills and stat growth modifiers. I would prefer if from now on MU's are blank slates with dialogue options.
>Give an armor knight Peggy Pony growths
>Armor Knight caps for skill and speed are utter ass
>also comes underleveled in a chapter where everything can one round her
Aran is the real armor knight
>i can't see how a self-insert character would work in FE10
you don't
Optional? Maybe. I don't want them to be yet another op piece of shit that makes the story worse and trivializes the game like Kris and Robin though. But if they can get the waifus without fucking the game balance I'd be happy especially if it's not required.
As much as I hate MU, they are going to return.
If anything, I'd like to see a different twist on MU. Say you take a personality test similar to NM and it determines when you join the Lordling's army and such. Newbies will start off as recruits and are forced to take the tutorials, and veterans will join mid/late-game as a promoted unit. The twist for the latter is that gaiden chapters are dedicated to you as you start off on the enemy side. Your avatar will start to realize that his country is changing for the worst after each gaiden chapter until you eventually defect to the main Lord's army.
Alright, lemme bring a compromise in this. Hear me out, this'll sell like hotcakes.
>Bring in another Kris/Robin/Corrin MU or whatever into the Gen 1 storyline, but they can't fuck major characters in the plot
>Arvis happens
>Pull a Morgan but have the role of MC switch to MU's child, MU dies with Sigurd and remains dead for the rest of the story. Have the kid be a childhood friend of Seliph or Julia depending on their gender or some shit.
Millions.
Also you get this unit prior with better bases, an exclusive weapon group for DB, a range option, and a solid class
Neph outclasses him though obviously
No for remakes, but for new original stories I don't mind. I like how Chrom and Robin handled it.
Chrom's the hero wielding the legendary sword and getting the unique scenes when squaring off with the villains, but having an avatar character in play leaves him free to work independent of game mechanics. Like the other Hector-type lords he's a manly, straightforward brawler. You can't really imagine that guy micromanaging his army beyond "here's food, here's a weapon, anybody not wearing our colors dies." So the idea of a more reserved, deliberative bureaucrat tactician-type of character doing everything as a military attache for the main character is really appealing. They already usually exist in other titles, even from the first game. You had Malledus in Shadow Dragon, Oifey and Lewyn in FE4, August in FE5, Merlinus in FE6(and a more understated role in 7), Soren in PoR/RD. All characters running the more mundane aspects of the army and playing tactician and strategist. They don't need to have the super plot-importance of Robin though, indeed it'd be best if they didn't keep rehashing that plot point.
>I can be the Percival
Give me 10 copies.
>MU
YOU ARE KILLING FIRE EMBLEM
YAMEROOOOOOOOO
Hell Ed has similar or flat out better growths and you get him in chapter freaking one
They have a matching def growth without being one of the best classes in the game who excels at evasion and speed
I have yet to be able to make her last more then 3 maps.
She's cute tho. I'd never say she's even close to a good unit but she's cute.
Unironically /thread
Fire emblem switched it's priority from actual combat to literally the sims
That doesn't even make sense. Supports are a small optional part of the game.
The new game could might as well be a fucking VN and retards would still buy it, the series cannot be saved at this point, im just waiting for the next game, if it's abolute trash im ending it all.
But they're the part that sold to waifufaggots.
I won't mind them as long as they aren't fucktarded like that cancer Corrin but odds are they're going to continue making MUs like him or Robin at best even though the latter is far more bearable.
MUs are good when they aren't lords
Echoes was already the cloest to a VN.
Yet probably still easier to use than Fiona who has solid growths and some free skills
>severely underleveled and usable for two or three chapters until Part 3
I honestly forget she exists
And?
Exactly, that's what im saying.
No. It'd work for a game like 7 but not a game like 8.
That ISIS obviously panders to them and by default puts more resources on shit-tier VN-like sequences than on the actual fucking game, retard.
Is that why Fates has good mechanics and Conquest has great gameplay stupid fuck.
>Game is retconned so that Ephraim and Erika get an additional sibling
FE 16 leaks when
Yet they still had to fit the child units even if they make no sense story wise.
How the fuck do you get more feathers?
20k for a 5* takes fucking forever.
I have 190 orbs
I hate optional stuff too.
it didn't hurt it gameplay wise so I don't see the problem
>caring about FE stories
M-maybe she'll be good by 20/20/20? I thought I was polishing a turd by babying Fiona, and she ended up capping everything 4 levels early. Maybe it's the same with Meg?
