One of the best video game soundtracks of all time.
Stop baiting about Oblivion namefag
It's shit but Shivering Isles was pretty good.
>fighting your evil clone
>has access to all your potions
Yet somehow Skyrim managed to be another step backwards
its okay
What are some good mods to modernize the animations and graphics a little? The 3rd person movement animations were janky for the time.
>3rd person
just play in first
It's funny you should mention fighting your clone, it turns out there's a glitch that let you do that using the Skull of Corruption, letting you make the clone permanent and everything. It's actually really interesting / fun.
...
STOP YOU VIOLATED THE LAW
Auriels Ascension is probably my favorite track out of any video game.
>What is Fire Emblem?
I just did that quest.
>evil clone appears
>it's using a sword even though I'm almost pure mage
>starts spamming conjured creatures when I get the upper hand
Pic unrelated?
I like how all your characters are body snatchers and your player character is an empty husk you can't immerse yourself into in the least.
proof?
Something that always fascinated me most about Oblivion were the tone of the mods
There weren't anything like Morrowind or skyrim. They gave no shit about consistency in style, or faith to the immersion. Yet this is exactly what brought it to have the balls to the walls insanity that ES is about.
Not only that, the style of the mods were like the epitome of early internet. Everything was very Russian and Japanese. Most outfits looked like something from Bleach, outfits were like World of warcraft rips, and textures were either just bright neon eye bleeding blue, matte grey or an anime maid outfit.
Modded Quests and areas felt like Japanese visual novels reimagined.
Acrobats being the most abused skill that let you literally anime jump into the sky and reappear behind your target added to that early anime trope of "teleport behind you" fun.
Every NPC redesign turned everyone into early goth/Emo with a mix of Otaku/Weeb anime protagonist. your character became the hokage, a 9 story jumping lunatic with cloud strife's sword shooting nukes out of his hands with "IMA FIRING MAH LAZOR" playing every time, summoning armies of big titty anime girls with Scene Hair to kill a village full of Ash ketchum and Ichigo.
This is clearly not for the kids who grew up with skyrim or the old elitist adults who still praise morrowing.
The guys who were around on the internet when Shoop da woop and rick roll was THE hottest thing, and everyone wanted to be in anime. Oblivion Modding lived through the golden era of the internet right when Sup Forums was perfectly ripe and pure. I'm not trying to sound like it's an objectively good thing or make it sound like it's the best, I'm just saying it's the most unique among any other modding experience.
It's not even the greatest Elder Scrolls game.
(Morrowind is best, not fucking Skyrimjob, kids.)
>modding at all
fag
Is this reddit copypasta?
No? what the fuck is wrong with you. Are you not used to seeing posts that aren't Tweet sized sentences?
I think your perspective is pretty fucked up but I get what you're saying.
The big thing for Oblivion is that it was a moddable game that had an international community. Because it looked so generic a lot of things fit, so you had a wide variety of people making unique stories with mods.
Man shut the fuck up about reddit
Only after skyrim did people start modding Oblivion like Skyrim. but I remember
Actually Daggerfall is the best one
>Only after skyrim did people start modding Oblivion like Skyrim. but I remember
wat
>Actually Daggerfall is the best one
"No"
Skyrim brought in more people into modding and made it a way more defined hobby, and moved it out of being immediately associated with porn and anime.
I would have to break down the 3 main things that people start with when modding
with Skyrim: 1.Graphics/ visual 2. Scripts and tools (frostfall, new directions for NPC and enemies) 3. Quests.
With Oblivion: 1. Quests and Areas 2. Anime rips (Getting every NPC to look like a touhou, every weapon some reference or at least a default Katana, and everyone's hair long and straight)
3. Sex mods
Now the priority has switched, Now visuals and graphics have been trying to reach Skyrim. All the old designs have been swept away and forgotten, all the marks of the old internet are gone (granted it's been a decade now)
keep making threads, user. you're doing god's work
I dunno man maybe lay off the drugs lol
game looks pretty good nowdays
The game was incredibly comfy to wander around in. People would be nice to you if you weren't an asshole. Even the shittiest player purchasable shack in the Imperial City felt comfy.
brief graphical modlist?
>being a kid just wondering around with your ghetto homies at the waterfront and forever being a low rank thief because you weren't a powergamer
Simple times. I never thought there were people that existed who literally complain about doing everything so fast and never stopping to enjoy the quietness of the game.
>there's no mod to fix the level scaling that doesn't also add a bunch of extraneous bullshit I don't want
>add blur
>"looks good bro"
Some of the best times I had with Oblivion were when I swore off fast travel so everything was much slower paced. I could have done without Oblivion gates on the main roads and having to get off my horse every five feet to kill an imp, though.
Yo exactly, taking your time, going at a pace and enjoying shit.
There was copypasta about this but it's really just a self discipline thing for players to avoid skipping the world so much.
can we make this another lore thread? those are my favorite and there isn't one up

Don't install Oblivion reloaded like the guide says, it sucks balls. Get skyrimized water to fix the shitty water.
www61.zippyshare.com
This is the enb I'm using.
the water will always look like shit without obge
I liked taking in the scenery too but I was a speed freak. My favorite past time involved buffing myself or a horse with fortify speed/athletics before racing through the map. I never fought anything I didn't want to since nothing could catch me.
How could you? I was actually thinking to myself the other day about making a mod getting rid of level scaling that would also leave most of the base game untouched and its incredibly difficult. So much of the games "difficulty" is tied to the horrible level scaling and it would be almost impossible to fix it without overhauling a shitton of components to the game.
I still don't get the complaints about the level scaling, I feel it' literally 4 guys on this entire website and 400 anons just parroting just to have a leg up in debates between skyrim and oblivion
not true
>do efficient leveling
>get all attributes to 100+
>get all relevant skills to 100
>get best unique armor sets and enchanted weapons in game
>still have to R2 spam for days to kill a single enemy
It wouldnt be so bad if enemies didnt get massive fucking health pools late game. They arent challenging its just a time sink of having to swing your sword non stop to take down a single ogre despite having max stats/skills/equipment. It gives no feeling of progression what so ever
