Fighting games should punish you for only knowing how to do one combo. Decrease the damage by 50 or 75 percent.

I think Smash Bros. does that
>be a great fighting game
>whole thing is ruined because there's an execution barrier to movement
I'm forever trapped because Tekken is the only one I'm remotely halfway decent at but I'll never be top tier because I can't whiff punish like a Korean autist.
>the game should punish you for going for optimal damage every time
Do you have brain problems?
then you are forced to use only 2 combos to fool the system
This is a troll thread, but that's fucking stupid.
Top players are always going to do the most optimal combo every single fucking time. Why should the game punish them for it?
Like I can't even begin to comprehend how you could be retarded enough to have an opinion like OP does. If you keep fucking up the same way, they're going to punish you the same way.
What if execution was easy like DBFZ but linking moves frame perfect reduced combo scaling?
It does, with a list of like the past 5 or 10 moves you did or some shit too
>Like I can't even begin to comprehend how you could be retarded enough to have an opinion like OP does.
Because he keeps losing to the same combo.
When I do lose to a combo spamming cunt, I coulda won if I did the dame thing, but Im not a faggot
>Do what you gotta do to win
>a win is a win
neck yourself
It's kind of funny. Smash really does do some things better than any other fighting game in existence. This mechanic for example is something others should adopt
the combo is the reward for winning neutral
Nigga you'll never be top tier because you don't put in effort not because of something in the game.
>combo spamming cunt
Then what in the flying fuck do you reckon you should do to win? Respect someone else's space and give up on a win?
What the hell do you want aside from getting better?
But you are retarded. Checkmate.
I think he means he'd enjoy fighting games better if people had to do adaptive combos instead of essentially a couple different ways to transition into the same combo.
>please punish players better than me by penalizing them for being able to do something that I can't
fucking lmaofo
I imagine low-level people will always opt to do the same combo they know they can land instead of adapting for what they specifically confirmed off of. Adjusting a combo is slightly higher level than the scrubs OP is fighting and losing to.

Please read this. It applies to you.
But that's Smash.
Are you guys just massively....shit what's a good English for tsundere....being romantically dishonest with it?
Yeah but smash isn't a fighting game.
In Melee it keeps a list of the last 9 moves you hit an opponent with, and the more the move is on the list, the less % it does. In Brawl and Sm4sh, it also affects knockback.
fuck off to MAL immediately holy shit
If you're having to think about implementing a control that runs so counter to logic and facts, the game may just be bad or you may also be bad.
Can't you just cycle three combos then? How does that fix anything?
This, along with DI, wouldn't work nearly as well in a traditional 2D fighter.
So you're punishing bad players and forcing good ones to jump through whatever hoop you use to try to fix the issue.
It's better than most fighting games nowadays desu, not better than the older ones, but better than the current ones.
So do people not know what Same Move Proration is? Or the fact that you normally aren't able to cancel into normals you already used in a string?
What the fuck?
Why doesn't anyone play KOF on steam? It's such a good game compared to SF.
It depends on which Smash game we're talking about. The latest two have had lots of issues baked into them that make them pretty damn bad.
At least you know the right Sup Forums scapegoat sir.
Yea yea...
>but better than the current ones
Which ones
>fighting games should be even more niche
OH NO NO NO NO HA HA HA HA
DOA and KI punish you for using the same combo routes because the other person can break them if you're too predictable.
...
in all the anime fighters with auto-combos the auto does about 80% of the exact same combo input manually.
So what you want was programmed into these games close to a decade ago.
I don't see any downsides to making you use more of your character's moves and strings. Saying it's like making them jump through hoops is stupid. Yeah it's a limiting mechanic, that's the point. It's like complaining about negative penalty in guilty gear, it punishes you for playing lame.
Can you explain the system that would make this happen, please? It's hard to have a debate over something not defined clearly. Maybe I am just uncreative, but I see it as simply memorizing a set of combos to rotate through if it's a limited combo game, or simply just having a game built around combos being EZ PZ like Skullgirls. Either way, it will become background noise to good players but frustrate learning players who don't have much in their toolkit. GG is a bit different since it is a system that any level can work with.
If OP's system is used, then you'll use an alternate bnb that gives you either the same or just less damage, then use the original.
Or if it's programmed poorly, you'll do a simple string into a reset and redo the original for the same damage.
Or if it's done well it just turns into a game of resets. Hell DMC has something like this, the style meter goes up if you perform at least 3 different strings, so you alternate between 3 strings to keep it up, but ultimately the style meter is fucking worthless barring the extremely minute buffs you get in DMC3 that nobody pays attention to
>fighting game
>having to rely on constant resets
Doesn't sound like fun.
How many fighters have you played? I realize there's alot of emphasis on oki but a reset is just as valid.
Hell Marvel is a very combo heavy game but the resets in there are nasty and are basically preferred over oki. Same with skullgirls
>skullgirls
Play Killer Instinct. If you do the same combo over and over again you'll just get broken for it.
And this is why scrubs should stick to their casual games instead of trying to play fighting games.
If he's whining about getting hit with the same combo, he's not going to be smart enough to understand combo breakers.
>skullgirls
But that game isn't fun. Its just shit.
>It doesn't count because I don't like it
uhhh...okay
are you retarded or just acting? seriously faggot, play me at any fighter, I'll fuck your shit up.
You're probably right. Guess he's just fucked forever, then.
They are both garbage, no thanks.
it already does that brainlet
it's called scaling
oh nevermind you said "one combo"
>damage and super or whatever meter generation of specials decreases by some percentage(would depend on the move, you wouldn't want basic zoning tools to decay as fast as like a potentially abusable command grab or whatever) whenever used, restoring by 1% per second
>moves used in strings would have the same penalty, but this wouldn't be applied to moves that hit in neutral, just true combos
I wouldn't even want it to be something noticeable unless you literally were just spamming one thing over and over.
If you are losing to a person who can only do EXACTLY ONE combo with NO different buttons ever used, you have no right to complain. Unless you can't also do a single combo. You CAN do a single measly combo right user?
how is it eric andre always makes for great vidya
Sounds super fun man. Can't wait to play that. Neither can millions of other humans.
