Mfw going back to an old mmo and realize it will never be the same

>mfw going back to an old mmo and realize it will never be the same
What's her name?

Runescape.
Be it RS3, OSRS or a private server.

Eve.

>tfw Red Alliance vs BoB shenanigans way way way back

Club Penguin

Mabinogi.

imagine being a squid floating around when all of a sudden a giant sperm whale ate you in one gulp haha

If you jumped into the water with it, would it try to eat you?

No

ragnarok online, lineage 2 and maplestory

Probably not. It's dying

That squid looks bored as fuck.

WoW. Playing it during BC was thrilling, now flying is everywhere so it lost all its appeal.

Maplestory

No, he's too depressed to try.

>the game world moved on without you and no one gives a shit you were kicking around at the start of it all.
>everything is so different it’s almost barely recognizable and all of the knowledge you gained in past is relevant anymore

Literally all of them. A combination of me being older now and internet culture being worse for MMOs basically just makes it a genre I can't enjoy anymore.

Excuse me?? Did you just ASSUME its gender???

Anarchy Online
probably the best early 2000s MMORPG, now just an empty, unmaintained shell of its former self

is that huge gash in its head normal? or did it get fucked up somehow?

...

>Maplestory felt complicated with so much shit when I was a kid at the beginning that I always felt I barely even scratched the surface of all the content it had in it.
>tfw looking at it now

World of Tanks
>Game looks pretty now
>all my friends are dead

>logging on and seeing all your old friends offline

That's how giant squids look like

When it’s avaible I like to be to grab builds of the games I can run on my own and explore the desolate world. It feels eeirly calming

>Dick around highscores
>That newb friend that you showed the ropes got maxed combat and plenty 99s

Lineage 1.

I was like 11~12 years old and me and my dad shared an account and characters.
We were both HOOKED on it.

I made so many friends on that game, I even got into a guild that normally only allowed adults, but I explained the situation and they made an exception for me. Had another friend who kept pressing me for my age and when I finally told him he was like "Don't let this go to your head but you are really mature for your age"

Man, I would go hunting with strangers, and we would be grinding and just talking about anything. It was awesome. They would teach me stuff, or get annoyed when I sucked and accidentally aggrod a bunch of shit while we spam potions and burn through all of our mana.

Mana regen in that game was LEGIT. Like it gave you an excuse to go chill in town and shop, trade, and socalize. You could use meditate or buy an inn key to speed up regen. The magic was AMAZING.

Lineage 2 is NOTHING like the origional game. The original games community was so amazing and the game was so fun doing Castle seiges where you have coordinated ROWS of archers holding a castle wall, and when you own the castle your guild gets to set taxrate on stores and gets secret passage shortcuts and extra storage and perks.

Amazing game for it's time, The walking / screen jittering is a bit tough to get past with modern games, and all the depth of the combat, and the community of people who are fun and sociable is gone. Now people just blast music, smoke weed, and shitpost constantly. I never make any real friends or have any cool interesting conversations online any more.

>good friend is still around
>hey dude glad you're still around
>"who are you?"

Wizard 101

Eve Online
Was only fun when I barely knew what I was doing.
>devs keep pissing away money into side projects while neglecting the game
W H Y

MapleStory, but I'm glad it's dead.

This is the one for me.

It would be extremely painful

Fusionfall

4u

why are humboldt squid such assholes?

WoW, I mean I still semi enjoy it as a time killer but the social aspect is pretty dead for me. I remember playing it back in BC/WotLK I would always make a new friend from a random stranger I ran into while questing and dungeons felt like an entire event you would plan around, now everyone just seems like soulless npcs

Face of mankind.
Completely Player driven poltics and economics. Players mine materials, produce products, and sell on the market.

Factions go to war with eachother over social conflits or battles for resources. Tax the shit out of your enemies and secure territories with valuable resources.
PVP anywhere at any time, player driven police / military rhat enforce the law and control earth, build turrets that shoot people unholstering weapons in "safe" zones.
Those turrets can be blow up during raids by enough people all shooting it til it explodes, it's like a raid boss dropping bodies and you hope you don't get shot by it before it dies.

Zerg TP rushes where you all line up with tickets to space colony, all run in on command. Like warping in 50 armed men with guns to raid and destroy everone.
Friendly fire so you have to coordinte uniforms and try to aim. Firing lines were actually effective to reduce FF.

The game was in perpetual beta and flopped on release and re-re-release. Hell of a ride though.

I wonder what the sperm whales breath smells like haha. Probably squid haha

How is elite dangerous holding up on xbox one?

Are there ANY fun mmos to get into these days with nice communities?

Probably mad they're not giant squid.

No................................

Everquest.

The live version is so drastically different that its basically a new game. I can't even escape when going to private servers because the admins want to play God while they monopolize all the raid zones.

Wonderking.

It just hurts me knowing that i can never log back on

Dark Age of Camelot

>Will never go full-scale RvRing again with battles as big as 200v200v200
>Will never go grinding to the bottom of Darkness Falls with a huge Raid
>Will never spell craft that masterpiece armor/weapon
>Will never retreat back to your guild house to chill with friends
>Will never complete the harder trials of Atlantis
>Will never see your glorious capital city with people everywhere
>Will never look for and find a group to grind out the rest of the way to lvl 50

And the 2 most important

>Will never mini ding again
>Will never get to experience true terror as you tried RvR for the first time at around level 20 (before Battlegrounds we're added)

flyff. fly for fun

OSRS
>scamming kids by trading them common members items and telling them they're super rare
>before the GE and you actually had to work to get your shit, and nobody knew how to get it
>getting the guidebook from those scholastic book fairs at school and endlessly poring over it in class trying to figure out how to get stuff
>that feeling when walking into the members gates for the first time and feeling like you're on another planet

and Maplestory
>first experience with weebshit
>wanting to make every character
>exploring the forest outside the mage village
>exploring the rogue city
>exploring the fighter mountain
>chilling with pirate bros
>seeing people with all kinds of crazy gear and wondering how to get it

I just want to fucking go back man
When did it all go wrong?

champions online

i don't know what would be a worse fate for the superhero MMO lineage, it dying out completely or being left to dance around as a bloated, rotting corpse - i don't even get HOW we don't have a fucking mainstream superhero MMO right now, capeshit has been the trend for like 3 years now running

actually mmos are getting popular again except, not mmorpgs anymore, no those are dead

I miss runescape so god damn much.

I've tried to go back twice and it's not worth it. I'll never feel the thrill of exploring a new world with my friends. I always loved the rush of people to a new area as everyone wanted to get the new sweet loot. One of my favorite memories was when they updated Karamja and everyone flooded in to try and get the new snakeskin armor.

God damn

The progression servers with instanced raids was a smart addition but the leveling speed was just too slow for me and I gave up in the mid-30's.

Not really an MMO but I re-installed TF2 recently to see if there was anything left for me.

There wasn't.

>Find old compressed folder of pictures I thought got lost between hard drives
>Inside is all the World of Warcraft pictures I saved over the years including funny moments with my guild and online friends from 12 years ago
>Only contact I have now is one guy who I have somewhere in my Steam's friend's list that I haven't messaged since 6-7 years ago

The closest there is is DCUO and Daybreak's jewed it all to hell. It's a shame because what little I've played of it has been really fun.

TF2 is trash now. I still can't believe that they actually downgraded the graphics on purpose

>Log on after 3 years of not being on
>Friend is online

It was so much fun to play this.

Ragnarok Online as well

>>scamming kids by trading them common members items and telling them they're super rare
you coudn't trade members-only items with non-members though.

Anarchy Online, my first one.

Just make AO 2 already, Funcom holy shit

>quickly log off because its been so long and it would be awkward

dem memories

was such a great game
Funcom are idots just make AO2 already

>OSRS
>Long ago
>Friend messages me says "find me in 5 minutes and I'll give you 1mil"
>"ok"
>decide to start teleporting, click on my elf crystal to check there first
>Immediately teleport to the space directly next to friend, he's grinding elves
>He never gave me the money

Game was full of cheats and liars

What the hell does Funcom spend the money on? Every game they have is on maintenance mode.

>It's dying
Cite your sources right now.

We're all dying, user.

there were a lot of retarded members
literally just had to walk into lumby to find some

I smile going through my obsessive cataloging of City of Heroes since it made so many years of memories with my friends and internet whoevers.
Then I get sad because you can never go back, unless you like building costumes in Icon

Triumph was best server but you're all free to shit on that hypothesis

>tfw played Nostalrius and the magic was still there
that is until the fuckin chinks came

and they are still in massive debt

seriously, what are they spending money on? do their 30 employees smoke that much weed??

...

I did that with DDO. reinstalled, logged back on.. suddenly I forgot how to play the game. looked how cash shoppy it got. logged off.. uninstalled. Wasted like 45 minutes.
fun memories

Who was that girl in green behind Numba 5? I never did get an answer for that after all these years.

wow what a beautiful animal.
