Stealth Games

Can Sup Forums recommend a good stealth game for PC?
I recently finished DX:MD and it was pretty good. I had previously, years ago, beat DX:HR. Was going to go through New Game+ but I decided against it and started playing Thief 4.
I loved the original Thief games when they first game out. Sneaking around, knocking people out, in other games doing backstabs, pickpocketing, its all good fun to me. I beat the first Dishonored when it came out but haven't got my hands on a copy of the 2nd one yet.
So what should I play next? I don't care if the setting is future, modern, medieval, etc. as long as it is a stealthing game.

Styx is good but a little too easy.

hitmang

Splinter cell: chaos theory
Hitman: blood money
and uhm, play the original Thief again..
Styx is pretty good, flawed but good.

>Styx
Looks fun so I'm going to look into that.

I haven't heard anything about this game other than the title. I assume you are a hitman of some sort.

Is it worth it to play the original Splinter Cell first? Like for the story?
I'm not to keen on replaying games.

Velvet Assassin.

>Velvet Assassin
Do you get to change her outfit?

Even though it has nostalgia value to me, I'm going to say no, and if you plan on playing it on pc, you might have a hard time getting it to run..
Chaos theory runs great though.
I've played all the games in the series and never cared for the story, its your generic "terrorist is threatening the world and you have to go and fix their shit"

Aragami is pretty cool

there's a segment in the game where she dresses as a nazi officer.

Prey is fun, although it takes time for things to get going.

Hitman is more about using disguises and blending in with the crowd. You can use stealth as well, but its more of an "assassination sandbox/simulator".
Levels are open ended, and there are many ways to kill your target.

Alright Ill check it out then. I always wanted to play, but back in the day my little bro liked the original Splinter Cell so naturally I had to dislike it and I never played it. Same goes for MGS and the other MGs.

Sounds interesting I'll be sure to check that out.

>Aragami
The graphics look kind of weird but it looks worth checking it out.

>Prey
>Bethesda
Does it have the same controls as all of their other games?

That actually sounds pretty fun. If I played, is it worth playing the old ones first?

Blood money is the best place to start for, check it out.

The first three games are pretty unforgiving and hard to get into for many newcomers, story in the Hitman games are almost non-existent so don't worry about going "huh?" in the middle of the game.

Well, it's an indie game. At least is not pixel-shit

>I decided against it and started playing Thief 4
ya dun goofed.
Thief2x is a rather good Thief fangame.

Heard a lot of good things about the new Hitman game was surprises me, though I haven't played it. The Hitman games in general are incredibly good and unique with their social stealth mechanic. The earlier games play more like puzzle games though. I recommend Blood Money. I must have finished it close to a dozen times now and I always come back to it.

This guy gets it. If you're looking for more after Blood Money then check out Hitman 2 and 3. Though keep in mind they're not as fluid and the gameplay is a lot more rigid.

I would also suggest revisiting the original Thief games with the newdark patches and checking out all the fan missions on offer.

Hitman is a different kind of stealth than most stealth games. You won't spend a lot of time sneaking around and hiding in shadows, it's mostly about disguises and infiltration, looking for security flaws and such. I'd recommend getting Blood Money because it's dirt cheap and still holds up to this day. If you like that style of gameplay, then get the 2016 game as well.

Styx and its sequel may genuinely be the only modern stealth games that are actually stealth through and through as well as having semblance of a budget.

I always saw Hitman as a sort of action puzzle game where you have to problem-solve in real-time with overt tools. Last game was return to that form.

Exactly, and I was really happy to see them going back to that formula after the mess that was Absolution. But BM is still a more finished, polished product. I have over 100 hours in the game and I vertainly had fun with it but after spending that much time playing it the lack of budget has become a lot more apparent, which is a shame because I feel like it could have been the undisputed champion of Hitman games if there was more interest in the series and SE gave IO more time and money.

Styx was alright, starts off great but then starts to drag halfway through, i mean both the games re-uses old levels.
Still it's one of the few games that focuses entirely on stealth, they even forbid you from using combat at hard difficulty.
